Thuggish said: Just because this is what you've seen doesn't automatically make it the most effective. It's just that most untrained people will do this in a fight. Usually with an untrained person a counter to this is very easy and that person is going to be in a world of hurt. I've seen boxers in street fights knock dudes out with one or two hits. I've seen wrestlers pick up and literally throw a peson to the ground. I've seen a karate guy kick someone once in the stomach and the person went down and couldn't breath. It all depends on the fight. All this stuff works depending on who you fight. But the most common and effective takedown with the least amount of risk is putting your leg in back and tripping them backwards. If you do it right you should still be standing as he goes down and then the STOMPING begins.

You are right Cross. Haha right cross, that's funny! Anyway you are right about the right side of the face being open, but this is a good way to know what target your opponent will most likely go for. So basically when he opens up to strike you, you'll know where to move.

Front kick yes, roundhouse to the head no.

I don't think a mixture of both is necessary. I just think more realistic training methods are the key. You don't have to compete in tournaments to be well trained.

pro wrestlers are going too dominate mma!

Well they have good conditioning and all the steriods they do will certainly come in handy. They also have excellent ukemi, which that's pretty much what pro-wrestling is. I'm sure they will do well enough to win a few fights, but they will not be the champs. -
Dancers can kick high as well.

Stomp kicks and stomping in general are the most brutal.

I think any kick that puts you in precarious position is not the best choice for a fight. The highest kick in a real situation should be about a little above the waist. If you want to kick someone in the head, bring the head down then kick it.

Life is short. Why not? I don't know about you, but I've been given one life and I am going to live it to the fullest. I think most religious people are more concerned with what their fellow Christians will think of them more so than what God will think. God knows you better than you do, so why worry what people think? That's if you are religious, which I'm not. I tend not to agree with popular opinion on any subject and that includes the bible.

Insecurity and incompetence usually leads to such behavior. Don't feel bad, it was really a compliment. -
What the?

It's basically MMA's with a name. Hmm sounds good to me. I know a guy who studied that Art and I'm glad he's my friend.

I think Bruce Lee was great and very intelligent person, but I think he would have only been good at his weight and would have been eaten alive by grapplers. -

We bow to each other both before and after class, out of respect for each other. We are thanking each other for the lessons. You can learn something from anyone. I like a level of respect in class. -
Someone told me that in the old days Kajukenbo was mostly used by the Hawaiian gangsters.

Well SevenStar a cross step isn't really a stance, it's a transition and an avoidance. It wouldn't be my first choice. Just a question, Have you ever tried jumping out of the way? You seem to have much more experience with groundfighters than I do.

Good to hear. I think it's very important to train for real situations. I think BJJ is an awesome groundfighting art, but it is limited. That is why so many NHB competitors cross train. So what I'm saying is that if you want to train for real situations there are some really effective MA's out there and hopefully their training methods are sound. That seems to be the problem with some of the Combat schools out there. They get lazy and just teach techniques and they don't go full contact at all. If you are going to be prepared for a real fight you'd better know how it feels to get hit. The Sport MA's have more effective training methods than most TMA's and that is the factor to consider not the techniques. -

TJS thanks for those great examples, but I'm afraid that Venezolano has his mind set. What a pity that someone has such a limited view of what fighting means. Venezolano if you only believe what you've seen then you need to live a bit longer, because you haven't seen anything yet. -

Look bottom line is if you want to learn a MA that trains for multiple attackers, don't take BJJ. BJJ does not train for this at all. It can't, it's designed for groundfighthing. It is not a Combat MA, it is a sport MA that is very effective in it's specific context. I mean no derespect to any MA, but that is essentially the truth of the matter. So don't try to fit a MA into a scenario and say it won't work, but none do. There are MA's that train for that and it works enough. If that is too hard to believe, then don't believe it. Just because you don't believe something doesn't mean it doesn't work. -
Amen brother, you tell em.

Judo, Jujutsu, Aikijutsu, Chinese Wrestling, Greco Roman, Hapkido, Aikido, Shoot Fighting, Etc... -
No if that's what I meant I would have just came out and said so. What I meant is that it is a MA that takes time for certain things to make sense, and once you understand that you can pretty much look at any MA and figure them out. An other thing, if I was the only able to learn this stuff I would be the only one studying it. Sorry if it came out the wrong way.
