  1. Both sports that can be used in real fights. One takes less risks than the other.
  2. Yeah don't give any credit to the Kung Fu Sevenstar.
  3. They helped put MA's back on track, they way it used to be when people used it to protect themselves. But it is only one part of real Combat.
  4. Jeffrogers their techniques weren't the problem. They were the problem, they were badly trained. I didn't see any technique from those people at all.
  5. Who's saying that. I don't know what you guys are talking about. There are no techniques designed to kill with one blow. Anyone saying that is full of it.
  6. Sevenstar said: I agree with you, but I don't blame the martial art for that. I blame the person. I don't look at other MA's and just blow them off as *. I look at them and see what might be useful for me to use. MA's in the past have always been about adapting and they should continue that way. This includes all MA's with no exceptions. I'll gladly get in the ring with someone who doubts what I am learning is *, but I will not fight fair. If I change the way I fight to accomodate rules than I probably won't do that well unless I start seriously thinking about training for the ring. I don't think I'm at the age or have the desire to be a ring fighter, it's just not something I'm really interested in doing. So the next time TMA guy disses you challenge him.
  7. Yeah, but I don't think competing makes the MA any better. What it does do is give the school a reputation in the competitive world. I think the important thing here is to train realistically and with resisting opponents. The only thing is that there are certain things you can't practice full speed and they are useful in real situations. It doesn't mean you should get rid of the techniques you can't practice full speed. I feel lucky to have a good teacher who trains us well. Again the training methods of many TMA's need to be looked at and changed for reality.
  8. I think in any MA simplicity is the key. BJJ sounds like fun. Too bad all the schools around me are way too expensive. I'm having a lot of fun with Budo Taijutsu which in many ways in simple as well. There is only one way of moving and from this one way of moving comes endless techniques. It's really brilliant.
  9. Taijutsu just means body movement in Japanese. Budo Taijutsu means Warrior Body Movement. I think before Jujutsu was called Jujutsu it was Taijutsu. But Budo Taijutsu is a Combat MA which contains 6 Jujutsu schools and 3 Ninjutsu schools within it. It's very effective if taught correctly. Most schools affiliated with Hatsumi are pretty good.
  10. I think UFC's have helped many TMA's get with it and train more realistically. I don't know when the training methods turned into dancing, but it did. The sad thing is that many TMA's have lost a lot of respect because of the few BOZO's who got creamed in the early UFC's.
  11. I agree sound training methods are the key to being a good fighter. So if the training methods were exactly the same across every MA, than the Combat MA's would be that most efficient at killing or maiming someone if you had to. Combat MA's were designed for such a purpose. They were not designed for competition, there are other MA's for that. So if we lived in a perfect world and everyone taught and trained hard like most sport MA's we would all be singing a different tune when it comes to Combat MA's. There are people who train very hard in Combat MA's, but they don't compete. These people many times have jobs doing really mean things to people or are hired a secret service and stuff like that. Or they are just serious practitioners who love to do this stuff. I'm not making judgements on other MA's, it's just my opinion.
  12. This is the question. What is a Combative MA? Are we talking about Combat MA's? If we are I'd say Karate, Muy Thai don't really fit in here. Depending on what Kung Fu it may be a Combat MA. I would think that MA's that were specifically designed for Combat whether in the present or past would be the MA considered Combat MA's. For example Krav Maga was actually designed for Combat. San Soo, Jujutsu, Arnis and others.
  13. Ninjutsu has stealth techniques you can learn, but it is much more than stealth. It's a whole system of fighting and tactics. It is essentially Jujutsu with some Ninpo in it. I don't even think there is such thing as pure Ninjutsu.
  14. It totally depends on what kind of person you are and maybe even what you do for a living. I enjoy MA's and have studied quite a few. I've found something that is going to keep me interested for the rest of my life. I enjoy MA's that sharpen the mind as well as the senses. If I want be physically in top shape I go to the gym.
  15. I'm not sick of the Gracies they're great. I'm sick of their practitioners talking smack about every other MA and their delusion that they have found the Holy Grail of Martial Arts. They usually have a total lack of respect for other MA's. Ignorance is bliss I guess.
  16. The Bo is sluggish? Stuey-San maybe you should study another art that will actually teach how to use a Bo. The Bo will destroy a Jo ever time. The Jo is good for closer quarters.
  17. It's not meant to stab and stay there. If it sticks to the person it bleeds less.
  18. What ever it takes to off balance your attacker is what I mean. Whether it is getting into his head and off balancing them there or physically. Sometimes doing dirty techniques freaks people out and they either get angry (off balance) or scared (off balance). Techniques and even words can have an advantageous effect in a fight if you know how this works. It's liking chopping down a tree with precise cuts in the right place. It's an analogy.
  19. I do mean things to them.
