If yoga counts as stretching, I stretch every day for at least 40 minutes...but more often than not an hour or more.

Does Anyone Have Any Idea What This Means??

Possessed by demons??? -
I'll second that Kickbutt! It's hard to stop smoking, especially when you put a little weight on... and even now when I go out I'm tempted to "be a moron and put poison into my body". Fair enough, smoking is a silly thing to do...but how many people have a bad habit?

Yeah, that's really good info KickChick. Stretching hurts! But it's a good pain. I can do the splits but only because I practice yoga quite frequently, and in my kickboxing class, hardly anybody can do them...apparently it takes 3 years do be supple enough for the splits from starting to stretch for them... They still hurt me though...you see people dropping into splits and they are supple enough not to feel it...

Wow, thanks KickChick, I'm gonna try those in a minute... Inner thighs are so stubborn! I really hope you're not right havoc...no offence or anything. But after I had my son 9 months ago I managed to get my stomach flat again by doing sit-ups (100-300 every day for a fortnight) lol, moobrack, you're right, all we care about is our thighs

I want to do something else...
babysteffee replied to babysteffee's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Yeah, KickChick, I know what you mean...I'd hate to do something brutal. Anyway, I'm much too soft, I'd hate hurting someone...which is probably the whole point I started kickboxing in the first place. I'll have a look out for workshops, thanks KickChick....and everyone else who posted... -
My class (which is kickboxing, not karate) have two sessions...under 13s and then over 13s. The childrens class lasts an hour, and ours lasts an hour and a half. We do spend 5-10 minutes warming up in the actual lesson though... All I can say is I love my class...I can't think of any faults at all... If you can name even just one or two faults then you're in the wrong place...

I always find the front kick easier and quicker to do. The opponent has less chance of blocking/dodging the kick if it's done quickly. The roundhouse kick may be stronger though, but not as fast.

Hi Valn...you seem to know a lot about martial arts

Are you supposed to wait until you're a black belt before you cross-train? -
Jiu-Jitsu Introduction
babysteffee replied to Lars's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
Sorry...didn't see this post when I started a new thread asking what was involved in jiu jitsu...very good information here. Am I right in thinking jiu jitsu is similar to Aikido then? -
I don't think any martial art should be full contact...not intentionally. It's different if you accidentally get a broken nose, but I'm not sure I could intentionally hurt someone I train with and class as a friend.

What happened last night in Taekwondo
babysteffee replied to Jack's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
I agree with Rushman, she was representing the class as a whole and therefore her uniform should have been up to standard. Maybe he could have had a word with her in private though, rather than embarrass her in front of the class...but because she answered back to him, she deserves to do extra exercises. In my class (kickboxing) if you answer back or are cheeky to anyone, or even just not paying attention, you are singled out in the same way, and made to do 50 sit-ups or 20 press-ups or whatever. Also...the fact that she walked out will have embarrassed the instructor because the rest of the class might feel he was being too harsh. -
Is there an exercise that specifically targets the inside of the thighs?
-
yes, almost everything will improve stamina, as long as you carry on for longer than your body wants to.

can someone explain...
babysteffee replied to babysteffee's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
Wow, thanks for the info SubmissionFighter. That's exactly what I'm looking for. They offer jiu jitsu in my area too...a nice bonus. -
I do kickboxing and love it...and it's made me fitter and more confident and all the rest of it, but I want to learn another martial art as well...something different though. Kickboxing (or at least my class) is almost identical to the karate classes I used to go to...so I want to do something different. Hmmm, if that's possible....

Sorry, I know I did say tomorrow...ages ago, but then I completely forgot all about it. I need to use my parent's scanner... Anyway, will be soon, promise
