  1. oh wow, loads of sites to look at...thanks everyone, even though it wasn't me who asked for the links... I don't know if I dare post the one I know because it has a forum and Patrick might get upset... http://planetjubei.com/mazone/
  2. Very interesting thread this... But I know nothing
  3. I think you should carry on going for as long as you feel you are moving forward and enjoying it.
  4. Aww, thanks rushman...you have great posts too. Thanks for the link Patrick. Sorry, didn't see the 'Rankings' Duh!
  5. Patrick, could you post me the link for the belts again please? I wanna see what colour I get to next. Sorry for such a ridiculous post! <~~~~ my favourite smiley!
  6. lol...it's so disgusting how much fat and carbs are in alcohol...why don't they do diet drinks??? Hmph. Anyway...the secret is dancing. I go out every weekend, drink loads and loads but dance it all off. 97 minutes of jogging to burn off a Bic Mac? Ugh, no thanks. Have a drink for me KickChick. Off to check out the link...
  7. -30C...not sure what scares me more, the temperature you're talking of, the getting any kind of kick. :uhoh:
  8. Good question...I don't think I'm qualified(?) enough to answer though... What is poomse?
  9. The target pads sounds good. Well...only if it doesn't hurt. I don't like pain.
  10. That's why I wanted to do Jiu jitsu as well as kickboxing...because they're total opposites. When I first started with martial arts about 6 years ago I did karate and kickboxing and they were so similar yet different that I got confused... lol, I'm making myself sound strange there...hope you know what I mean.
  11. Many definitions have to change occasionally to keep up with the times. I know nothing about chi...or ki...or gi...but I'm off to learn. Nice debate...I'm doing a degree in philosophy so I found it very interesting.
  12. oh dear...I'd only heard of Brazilian...or was that something else :uhoh:
  13. Fitness is my way of life...or at least, being fit plays a huge part in it...and martial arts is incorporated into that, so maybe. I dunno. Yeah, possibly. I agree with Angus too then
  14. Even if you're not a beginner, video's are a bad idea...I still do things wrong in my class, and the instructor walks around the class and corrects even the black belts. Plus, if you learn something wrong, you don't want to end up breaking your arm, or knuckle or something if you ever do have to use it in a fight, just because you didn't know how to do it right. About the TKD or Shotokan...I am ignorant in both, or either (??) so I don't know...but is it not a good idea to train in two different styles? I'm about to start learning Jiu Jitsu as well as Kickboxing. Or was.
  15. Hi Kurt/figure4man
  16. Hi Slim
  17. It takes about 6-8 years in my kickboxing class to get to black belt. I want to do Jiu Jitsu too because it takes so long to master, so it should be more of a challenge (in theory anyway). Some people spend 3/4 times a week training, whilst others only train once a week, with less effort etc...I don't really think a school should be judged on the time it takes to make black belt alone.
  18. I asked my instructor if we were doing cardio kickboxing and he said we weren't...but we do a lot of "aerobics". I think I can't imagine what cardio kickboxing must be like...it must really tire you out. Sounds good though. I don't think I've ever done any (or much) anaerobic exercise because I have never felt like throwing up afterwards. That sounds good too (well, apart from throwing up) but it's good to push your body like that... Isn't that rather like military training then?
  19. everybody knows they shouldn't do it...that doesn't make it any less addictive though.
  20. have fun....
  21. hi ahmed77
