Whoa! I can do <enter style here>!
FangPwnsAll7 replied to DoctorQui's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I broke my very first board yesterday in class. It felt great, because I'd never thought I'd do it. Oh, and I did Hyung Sam Bu (form 3) without any mistakes in the first day I learned it. I know that feeling. When I first walked in that dojo, I saw people doing form 1, and I was thinking to myself "Are you kidding? I can't do that!" Now, I'm already on form 3 and I'm very confident about form 4. -
I got excitement at my orange belt.

I go to train everyday. If someone asks me to be somewhere or do something, I just tell them that I have karate. I never let anything get in the way of my training. Karate is a way of life.

Just had the training session from HELL!!!!!

I train outside of class a lot. xD My training sessions are usually bad, but I get through it. -
Thanks! I will.

Getting a new embroided belt tomorrow!
FangPwnsAll7 replied to darksoul's topic in Equipment and Gear
I'm not a black belt, but I'd like to say congratulations on getting your new upgrade. Wow, that's one expensive belt, hope it does well for you. -
Wow, cool. I wish everyone knew martial arts...well the non criminal people at least.

Hey guys. I've been to my very first karate tournament. I never thought I'd do so well in it because I'm only a yellow belt, but I pulled it off somehow. I managed to get 1 medal in sparring. I'm excited that I got to participate in my first tournament. It was in Chicago. The plane ride didn't take long to get there. Anyway I posted to say that I had a lot of fun at this tournament and I am looking forward to participating in the local one this October. Were you nervous/excited on your first karate tournament? TANG SOO!

Not bad at all, it's the basic kata for most styles but I always appreciate that form (Kihon Kata as we call it!). Your side kicks are good too, they look quite powerful. Keep it up! Thanks I might post more forms soon.

The colored lapel around your Do Bok!

I like the black gis a lot, but we don't get them. I'm satisfied with our lapels. -
IT should work now. I put it as unlisted.

a few question
FangPwnsAll7 replied to darkfighterg6g's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
It takes 4 years, at least, to get a black belt. I am not sure how much help I can be on the TKD questions, since I don't take it. However, I know that Tae Kwon Do has powerful kicks like the flying side kick and some others. I would never join any ATA schools, as they are McDojos. If you are looking to take TKD, I would recommend choosing any other school. -
Hello! Welcome to KF! Good luck on your trip to karate camp. I'm sure you'll do alright.

Just had the training session from HELL!!!!!
FangPwnsAll7 replied to DoctorQui's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I've had training sessions like that before. I've made mistakes and lose focus on the rest of the form. I forget about it the next day, though. -
I do not do this style, but good luck on finding someone who does.

I use sandbags them for a part of my training. I find them useful to build up power and to make you stronger.

Western Weapon Styles: The Longsword

Nice! This is a helpful guide you have set up here. It would be great to see more videos on there! -
In our dojo, the children can hold pads for anyone. One of the students one time was holding a pad for our instructor so that he could demonstrate a backwards back kick. However, when doing it as a class, you usually get paired up with someone close to your height and age. I found that okay, only to come back a few days later with a hole in the wall at the dojo.

Well, my instructor has said it was good because when you don't bounce or move around, then it is very easy for your opponent to tell when you are going to strike. However, when you are bouncing, it's hard to tell when you're going to attack because you do it more quickly, I should say. When you attack, you get a certain position. If you're moving, then your opponent can never tell what you're going to do.

I would too. I mean, some of my friends go there, but I'm a person who would stay away from it. It's definitely a McDojo.

I have a feeling I'm currently going to a McDojo. The belt tests are overcharged and are held every 2 to 3 months. I do take all of the belt tests though, because my parents want me to be 'awesome' or something... Well, I think my instructor teaches for the students. He said some something to me a few classes ago that was along the lines of "Back, when I was your age (14, I'm guessing, since that's my age), I got in a fight in school." He also said that he got cut from the face. Then his parents told him to take TSD, and he loved it ever since. And that's why my instructor teaches. I actually don't think it matters if you go to a McDojo or not, as long as the instructor has some experience with the form they are teaching.
