  1. 1/18 covered sweeps from de la riva, butterflys and half guard underhook defenese from top of sidecontrol to taking the back back control hook drills
  2. I understand that a "hug" in certain situations could be deemed inappropriate. That is where common sense needs to kick in.(something that is in short supply in the world btw) Also, when i say hug, i am not talking about a full embrace, im talking about a shoulder bump and a pat on the back, that to me is a hug. I find this perfectly acceptable among training partners as a show of respect for a job well done. We do not teach people that are under the age of 18, and rarely do we participate in what most people would consider a "traditional class". When someone reached a certain rank in our system, they are considered part of our clan, we treat that person as if they were a member of our own family. You say that because hugging as no purpose in training, then it does not belong on the mat. In my humble opinion, training martial arts is not just about learning how to defend onesself or to learn how to fight. Training martial arts has allowed me to build relationships with people who i would have never met otherwise. If one goes through their martial arts journey without building at least some important intrapersonal relationships, i think they have missed the point. Agree to disagree.
  3. 1/18 spent 90 minutes exhausting one of our newer guys.
  4. We have officially hijacked our own thread, we went from discussing the misrepresentation of a book alledgedly about the star wars universe, and turned into a george lucas hate thread with a touch of jim cornette shoot interview.
  5. My final straw with anything related to Mr. George "I love Ewoks" Lucas was the release of the 4th intstallment of the Indiana Jones Saga. The title shall not be named, but im suprised that Lucas didn't change the title to "Dr. Henry Ravenwood Jones's Happy Fun Time Nazi Shoot em up Hour. I literally lost faith in humanity for about two weeks after watching that garbage. Im Jim Cornette, and thats my opinion!!!!
  6. I have only had experience on the mat with with two women. The first one was is a brown belt in my system and was training at our gym when i first started. She was the gyms "moron control". Every time we had a knuckle head come into the gym to learn "UFC" we threw him hin against her. Inevitabely she would demoralize them so badly either their pride would be hurt and they wouldn't come back or they would change their attitude. I was forced to respect her, because if i took her lightly i would be choked out or beaten into oblivion. The second i encountered while training at Extreme Couture in Las Vegas. It was during a Muay Thai class, it was one of the larger classes of the day, probably about 15 people. During sparring rounds we rotated every two minutes, Liverpunch and myself noticed that this woman was chasing all of her sparring partners all over the mat. Turns out she as the Las Vegas 16 year old TKD champion(or something of the like). I assume that these potential mma fighters that were letting a 16 yo girl chase them around the mat had to much "respect" for her to actually hit her or make here defend anything. So when it was liverpunch's turn to spar her, he tripped her on her butt immediatly, she popped up with a huge smile on her face and they proceeded to beat each other up for two minutes. When it was my turn i found myself having to get inside and work from the clinch and use dirty boxing to have success because her kicks were so good. We beat each other up for another two minutes. After class was over she came up to us and thanked us for training with her. We could tell that she wanted someone to push her, so we obliged. One has to use their best judgement in sparring with anyone about contact level. But just because a sparring partner happens to be a woman and you take it "easy" on her, you may be doing her a disservice and robbing her of training experience.
  7. Darn, I was hoping to read this when you were done with it. Sound like this guy believes that most star wars fans enjoy a good trip to the dmv as opposed to learning about the anatomy of a light saber duel. What is the authors name????, you should send him an angry nerd letter.
  8. 1/16 Golf stretches and exerscises as a warmup(don't laugh) clinch pummeling and striking 40 min freeroll 5 round sparring
  9. Saved a friend from getting into a fight with a couple bikers by tripping him to the ground, choking him, and then throwing him into the car... long story. Grappling the occasional out of control drunken friend, so they don't hurt themselves. Every time i go to a restaurant and case out the crowd, exits, possible trouble makers etc.
  10. 1/14 60 minute freeroll( seems to be a trend)
  11. First of all, the second that the second guy jumps the cops, two or three other officers jump in. My question is what were the other officers doing when they were off camera, because they sure weren't securing or checking the perimeter and watching there fellow officers backs. We have students that have only trained grappling for a few months that could have shrimped up and swept that guy. So much trouble, paperwork and potential lawsuits could have been avoided if this officer had even a basic understanding of position. As a potential LEO it disturbs me that a percentage of officers are not serious about there competence on the ground. Not only for their safety but the safety of the citizens they protect. The suspect would have been saved a potential traumatic head injury if this guy just could have executed a basic sweep.
  12. 1/12 Cinco Teros drills escrima footwork drills stick parry drills 3 rounds stick sparring
  13. 1/11 light freeroll for warmup drilled intermediate positions from x-guard, half guard, deep half guard. my head is spinning from to much knowledge being crammed into it.

  15. 1/8 am: Drilled sweeps out of x-guard, shallow half guard, and de la riva. Slowly starting to get the hang of it. 30 minute freeroll pm: Handgun drills including dry fire, tactical reloading drills, drawing and point shooting. Live fire drills, working angles and firing from different positions. put about 100 round through beretta 92fs and about 75 through ar-15.
  16. Thanks for posting this tallgeese, this will not doubt be printed out and given to our younger students as a history lesson. As well as proof that we do not teach "cagefighting" or "UFC".
  17. 1/4 Worked a series of three sweeps from de la riva tornado sweep from shallow half guard 30 min free roll
  18. 1/3 warmup consisting of heavy bag work, shoulders, abs went through a couple different series from a standing transition into x guard.
  19. 1/2 Ugghhh, trying to get back on the wagon after new years Light clinch and trapping sparring worked a few x guard sweeps
  20. Highlight of the video so far, Tallgeese clearing corners with an imaginary rifle that happens to be a crutch.
  21. The first link wouldn't work, youtube has deemed it to far to large and beyond all our comprehension.
  22. Great points, I admonish my girlfriend for stuff like that all the time.
  23. New goal in life is to attain some type of rank in BJJ, Tallgeese you are correct that this is awe inspiring. Some of the best hips i have ever seen. I just shows you what a large world we live in and how good it is possible to get.
  24. Im pretty sure we are the only system in the world that has trailer-gate removal and replacement featured in their belt test. Im pretty sure that i had no more oxygen left in my body at that point and i might as well have been trying to do quantam physics than mess with that gate.
