  1. Karate's Kata if done dynamically with strengthen your punching/kicking power...also in some styles of Kickboxing , such as Muay Thai they have a form of Kata and so does Sanda (Chinese Grappling/boxing)
  2. Has any one ever attempted to break a baseball bat with their forearm using a twisting/snapping motion? I am training to do it now, because my goal is to be able to break one on my 25th birthday, I have about 6 years left to practice it, I have been practicing it for the past three months and I notice alot more strength in my blocks because of the calcium deposits on my forearm now, (The welts are all gone and the callouses are thicker). I notice how Kiyohide Shinjo and his son break them, and I was wondering if any of the American goju ryu, Kyokyushin, and Uechi practicioners do any hard core breaking as such?
  3. I extremely understand what you mean especially since that most styles do end up being a Mcdojo, but I think that is something you can move past. Dont teach something that your not a black belt in, even if that is sketchy dont teach something that you think looks bad in your eyes. I know lots of martial arts styles and I have a couple of black belts over shodan level, but I will never teach something I dont think looks good in my own form, such as akamine no jiwa. No matter what I dont think it looks right, I have been told by teachers such as Eisu Gushi (The main man for this form) that is looks ok, but I dont want to teach something that my students can come up and ask "Why does that look so sloppY"?. I created a style called Shinchuurou Te, I do have a black belt in that style of course, but its not my only black belt either. It is basically a mixture of all the traditional martial arts I have taken. Bagua Five animal Fukien White Crane Shotokan Uechi/Goju Ryu Judo Muay Thai. My style's emphasis is on Kata and Kumite, nothing else really I do teach spiritual and philosophical aspects to those that are extremely hungry for the budo knowledge. But I agree that mose MMA schools are overrated especially since the debut of the Never Back Down movie...whuh. But im done now...
  4. Ps1 is about the only one I agree here with, other than Bushido Man, as he usually takes a side of neutrality stating that their are various points of view. But overall I think its just a sign of showing that everyone must and everyone needs to improve themselves and continue to stride to succeed in martial arts as well in everything you do. I mean if you can break one block, is it not better than none?...BUt always strive for the next one, dont think of it as a dissapointment, think of it as something you need to look forward to do later on in life.
  5. Hmmm its true that Isshinryu has only eight katas that are core, there are also other katas such as enpi, seipai that are added into the curriculum as bridging katas...are you sure your a practicioner of Isshinryu...my cousin has been practicing isshinryu four 6 years and he is only a second brown... Their are also two styles of kobudo that are mingled within such as matayoshi and yamashita.
  6. I am no expert, But I believe that anger is only a stimulant for your adrenaline, you tend to feel less pain and you can be come more agressive, but their should be a line between right in between anger altogether. If you go to far you could get twenty to life...
  7. I imagine that since it's hara breathing, by making it audible it causes you to concentrate more on proper breathing. So then it would be safe to say that the concept of hara breathing came after Pangainoon Kung fu was brought over to okinawa by Kanbun Bushi?
  8. If you like Annanko then you will love Annanko no Sai and Annanko no kama.
  9. I know that after the meiji restoration they began to implement some chain mail like material to line the inside of the 'men', and the chains that linked the kote were metal as well as the ashi. But it was mostly bamboo throughout.
  10. Ima have to look into netflix...family video has nothing but oldies...haha.
  11. Did it say prior to the meiji restoration?...Just wondering?
  12. I use the free hand out ones from the orthodontist that i go to...they are the best because they are free, I cannot see myself going in and trying to buy one when I can get them for free...so what if their rough...haha
  13. I still dont see how some one can be angry, but yet they can control it...either they're angry or their not...how can you learn to control an emotion that is so hard to control...if its even possible...I have never been angry in my life...aggravated yes, I can control that but I have never considered myself to be angry.
  14. The last samurai, Jarhead, and Bringing down the house
  15. Patrick should hold a KF Convention...
  16. Chong Li also said "Good, bricks not hit you back".. I think its a good show and good for demonstration, but thats about it. It shows how conditioned you are, and how well you can power through stuff. Its a good demonstration of your power. But... Learn what your breaking...dont break boards and try to break roofing tiles... I do plan on my 25th birthday to break a baseball bat with a twisting forearm.
  17. True, but whats the underlying concept that they received breathing techniques such as Ibuki from Goju Ryu?. Goju and Uechi are about the same and the breathing is completely different, and Pangainoon Kung Fu their is no hoarse breathing.
  18. Yeah, to bad I couldn't have been born back then

Kamsa Hamnida Thank you in Korean
  20. Yes I think another word for it is your diaphram
  21. In my opinion it sounds like you have weak calves and quads. You need to do the seated leg press but make sure only the ball of your feet and your toes are on the 'plate', and push, this works your calves. Chambering your leg into a front kick position works your calves, and work on your core.
  22. uh its something in the stomach underneath the naval. Its used for inner karate as said by many older okinawan martial artists.

Me=Eye So Kime means to energy/eye or to focus energy into a given point perhaps. Some would liken it to the "snap" or "tension point" at the end of a technique. "Focus" in a nutshell and not quite the same as Kiai but equally part of the same process. WNM Oh I learned something new.... I thought that Kime was just like an emotional expression of your inner strength...haha whuh. Thanks for the explanation, im less ignorant now.
  25. Yeah, it might have something to do with the tandem as well....
