  1. Some places that sell the gi's such as ebogu and shureido (just examples), if the gi's dont fit than they will gladly have you return yours for a smaller size...not sure how their policy goes indefinately but thats just a smaller description of some places.
  2. Good quote from the book...it was a good book. I actually own it. Expensive piece of literature if you ask me. Anyways. Thats one point of view...from the author...how do we know that his own way and the way he speaks of rei is not the wrong point of view...since this is a book, by a japanese man, but I have had the chance to train with many japanese instructors in and out of Japan/okinawa. So I will tend to take my own personal experiences over that of a book written by a man that I have not yet met.
  3. Dont really worry about trying to perfect them, because they have their whole life to try and perfect their style.
  4. 5. I wear mine a bit loose like that. But its not 8 sizes bigger...I have a 34 waist but I wear a size 6 in gi pants.
  6. Tallgeese and Grego, he had no intention of dislocating my shoulder. he wanted to lay me out thats all. He quotes, "In all my years of training, I have only dropped my belt once...when I did that my instructor broke my arm, If I instill the same discipline in you, than I have successfully passed on atleast 50% of my masters teaching to you". With that we went right on to class. He also says that pushups are not a punishment its a conditioning exercise...you can do all the push ups you want but why call it a punishment when it betters your body. If he did hit a minor their could be a possibility for him to get in trouble Bushido Man, This is where the thread about controlling your anger falls in. If I were to retaliate against him, he could have easily laid me out a dozen more times if need be. His primary style is Pressure points and Meridian Points...I would have standed no chance. And plus my black belt is 50% silk and 50% satin right out of japan...that was an expensive belt...I would never throw it any one in risk of not getting it back again...haha Truestar, I admit I was a bit upset with a dislocated shoulder but...he 'kindly' relocated it for me..since I still dont know how to do it to myself...last night he also told me that it should be thought of as a lesson to learn how to relocate it myself...and to be less clumsily..."What good is a warrior who cannot even keep a hold of an obi". Harlan, To consider ones self to always be on the same old footing all the time, is to not know what a life is.
  7. I like that italian sweet creme from coffee mate...
  8. Ok...now to add some more complications...if some one were to drop their center while I was doing Ura nage...how would I rereverse it?
  9. I've never liked horses...so I thought it was kinda funny...since I never got around one before...but....if I did own horses...I guess it would be scary whuh.
  10. I think so, it really looked like him especially during the filming of Showdown in Little Tokyo.
  11. Well by his demeanor I dont think he could really care less who is here with him any more, he is in his 80's and he could croak any minute (his own words). I dont think he plans on strong arming his way around. Do I feel privileged and obligated to get my rear end handed to me by him...no I do not. Do I feel honored he has never requested payment...yes I do. Thats why I do not leave his Dojo. His teaching style is like no others. He does not demand honor its given to him even by bystanders that just come into watch. When your my age...a decade is a long time....im only 19...thats over half my life. He has pretty much made me into who I am. Saying that this man has given me a good grounding...is an understatement. He grinded me down to a fine flour and then rebaked me. Im the only on he ever awarded sandan to...everyone else barely made it to nidan and then quit. he is demanding but he is also old fashioned. I have trained with old sensei such as Iha sensei of Okinawa and Yara sensei of Japan, and they were even harsher...this encounter just caught me off guard thats why i posted about it. but I do thank you for your thoughtlessness and advice. Thank you Wa No Michi
  12. this horse is awesome...
  13. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48kDBlUBzeU This actually did not look so bad when he was in the air...its just the landing part...thats all...
  14. I agree that there is a huge difference between being angry and being fueled by adrenaline. I have seen people get angry during sparring, and their technique goes right out the window.Whereas if you are fueled by adrenaline you can still maintain control. But what about in terms of strength?
  15. Grego, I like to think that my sensei did it to show me humility, and to show me that I should have been conditioning myself. My sensei is so old fashioned for being as old as he is, he still follows bushido. No one is allowed to be seen wearing socks... JohnKeats, I did stop looking at him but I doubt it was because of the belt...it could have been I will keep that in mind though, I wont ask him that though...haha WNM, I am not going to let almost a decade of learning from a man of such caliber because he made an 'example of me', He is the leader of the room, and its good to know at his age he can still hold his own ground. As for his most senior student sparring me to a bloody pulp, haha..I am his most senior student... 50 Inches, It is crazy...but I would choose the TMA over the newer stuff any day.
  16. oooh yes mochas are awesome I tend to prefer white mochas lately tho.
  17. Oh ok, I never thought about that...I doubt I will ever have it done to me...but just in case haha.
  18. Haha YEAH! I guess not. I did not expect that because when another blackbelt did something similar last month he just dismissed him for a week. I was afraid he was going to do the same to me, but instead he just laid me out. We are allowed to walk in wearing street clothes but we have to change into uniform immediately. But we arent allowed to take out uniform off until our teacher bows us out, and he's done that already but...yeah he got me good. I will be holding on alot tighter next time as well.
  19. Depending on the hours for our one hour classes we do Kitae the whole time for the two our classes Kitae, Kobudo Three hours classes Stretched, Kitae. Kobudo and Karate. I cant really give you all a detailed description because we dont always do the same thing.
  20. So...does anyone like coffee, and if they are die hard coffee fans like me whats your favorite specialty coffee. I like the Caramel Machiatto but I also like to spike my coffee sometimes on the weekends with some baileys haha...shhhh! But I love coffee in general and ice coffee whuh I love it..
  21. So, my favorite Judo throw at the moment is Ura Nage. and it seems to be pretty much unstoppable, I win most of my matches doing this technique, does anyone have any idea on how to reverse it, so I can be aware just in case someone tries to reverse it, Can this technique be reversed? I can do it the best in my school, well second best, my teacher is still above me of course. So does anyone have any experience on how to reverse this technique, or is it how I think it is...irreversible?
  22. By the name you should have guessed it has to do with dropping your belt on the ground. Last night I was taking classes (as a black belt) with my teacher Mototomi Sensei. Well, As I was talking to him I began to untie my belt and it slipped and landed on the floor, I immediately looked at my teacher and he gave me a small smile. So I thought the sight was clear, so I bowed to my teacher and bent over to pick the belt up. As soon as the belt was clutched into my hand I felt a sharp pain in my shoulder and I notice im flying through the air. My teacher kicked me so hard he dislocated my shoulder and I was atleast four feet away from him. He calmly walked over to me and helped me up. "never..... ever..... do that again" That was all he said. he bowed to me, I bowed back and he walked off the dojo floor, quietly slipping his Zori on as he left the building..he left me to lock up. Now my big thing is Whats your opinion on dropping your belt on the floor. Disgrace or not? I believe he went hard on me because of my rank, I can almost guarantee he would never do that to a lower kyu rank, which is not a problem for me. I just would like to know your opinions on dropping the belt on the floor. Thanks, TDR
  23. It sounds like something good to do for an out of the dojo testing drill... Like to test awareness in your black belts, I might do this, and have someone just come up and surprise them quickly and just walk off, haha.
  24. Well you have Sanchin and tensho which were created by Chojun Miyagi, those are the 'real' ones. Miyagi Sensei also created Gekisai Dai Ich and Geki Sai Dai Ni. Those are the ones that I know for sure were created by the founder...the others ones im not so sure. I do believe that Sepai and suprarenpei were developed by Miyagi Sensei as well.
