Oooooh nice...I didn't even notice it until I seen this thread...

He is, indeed, And we have been doing quite a bit of Kitae (More so Sanchin Kitae), but I will only be training with him until the end of April, then I wont be doing nothing with him for quite some time (This coming November), he is the one that advised me to use a rubber mallet (Its what he used), and pine makiwara conditioning (wrap the makiwara with oiled rope).

It looked like he was dancing around 1:06....haha -
For any age, the treadmill and the elliptical will help with agility training.

Im gonna try and break a 2 x 1 this summer sometime probably in july doing the same technique, then I will go up to a 2X2. and maybe a 2X4 before the bat.
-
Im very aware that breaking is just some what a parlor trick, thats why I chose the baseball bat, because it shows true strength not fake strength, its a momentum strength. And if you can use a momentous blow from your forearm, it would be beneficial.

It depends on where you are trying to teach at. If your in a small town, then its not going to work. If you are doing it in a big city, it may work, then it depends on your teaching skills, and your price. But I would not consider it as a occupation if your still young....like me...haha. I just teach if for free at the moment, when I move to california I might end up teaching it on the side for a few dollars here and there.

The way you make the kiai sound matters not. But it can become annoying if its not something serious...for instance I teach a girl that kiais "Suzuki", "Mistubishi" and "Toyota"...I prefer Kiai's Such as "EEEEEEEE", "Iai", "yah", "Ha", Yo", and "Kya". In Kendo, (The style I was in), the only kiai was where you were striking at, "men", "do", "ashi", "Kote", Skee". -
Well since this seems to still be going on, i think I have changed my views a bit. If you want to wear it, and your worried about 'punks' dont wear it, if you want to wear it and you dont care, then why not. If your paying tuition to a school to learn martial arts, in this economy they are not going to ban you from the school if you wear it when your not suppose to.

Hmmm maybe a rubber mallet was the wrong word choice to use. Its not a real hammer in sense of pounding nails...its a softer rubber mallet...I dont benefit much from kote Kitae any more since their is no one that wants to do it with me anymore. So the only kitae practice I have is with inanimate objects such as a door, ring sizer, and rubber mallet in example, but if you guys have any other ideas on stuff that I can hit please let me know.

The katas of the Eiku are extremely beautiful.
-
I have a rubber mallet that im striking my forearms with, and im using my shins to condition them with on someone elses hip/quadricep.
-
Hmmm the history of the pinans have been around longer thats why they 'think' they are older, I use to think the same as you, until it was shoved into my face...I still dont always believe it...but in my opinion, the heians and Bassai are more respected in Japan other than Piinan and Passai since its more of an okinawan dialect, and if your style is widely japanese based that could be why it was directed in that way, as such it was in my case before.
-
The tuifa/tonfa is good, extremely intimidating. Non traditionally my favorite would have to be...scissors...im serious
-
Well im training right now for it, so I plan to be extremely well conditioned in the forearms. So I hopefully do not break my arm...but either way I will tape it and post it here if and (hopefully so) this site is still booming in six years. because It would be cool, haha.

At any rate, if they felt that it offered some protection from blades, I don't think they were too worried about being punched through it. Have you ever done kitae against a bamboo "men". It shatters especially if you hit it with a sword. Let alone a full force punch. But its hard to really say what was what back then. -
My Favorite is the Sai because its one of the weapons thats the hard for the Xma people to be able to make them "showy". And its one of the hardest to figure out as well, its I think is the only weapon thats still fought over whether it started off as a weapon or was it a cultivation tool?. And its heavy enough where you dont need to use alot of strength just momentum. BUt it can also give you one heck of a work out.

Hmmm Three wars...I think so...Because sanchin is three conflicts, perhaps Pangainoon is a derivation of White Crane...Whoa....haha.
-
I think thats what took mine so long, is because I always use to mess with it to make it change colors...haha....I'll have to remember to not do that so much next time.
-
It took about a month for it to go away with me....but I dont remember that fancy name being used...I was just told that my bruise at the quadricep was extremely deep.

Your site looks good, things are a bit pricey but the free shipping basically makes up for that, especially if you have to order more than one Bo. And you only need $50.00 to be able to qualify for it, so thats a pretty good deal, I will probably order some stuff from you in the future.
