But do you see yourself doing the localized techniques of your instructors..such as the kobudo practitioners some holster the Rokushaku Bo under the arm while some rest the end at the bottom of the rib cage and others holster on the side of their bicep.

So its almost like a family tradition then, thats cool.!.

I keep everything and throw nothing away the same as my instructors, and as their instructors before them. You may not choose to emulate any one any more, but at one point you did...at times certain things die out and with other they never do. By trying to understand everyone's Point of View you can then better understand yours as with all mental conflicts.

It might even give you a bit of praise if you introduce it to your teacher of 'sempai' for a warm up routine...they might be appreciative. When i was a yellow belt I told my teacher we should implement plyometric training..he loved the idea so much he gave me his pair of old shureido sai.

Is it like a canvas heavy bag or a leather heavy bag?
-
Is their any other styles around your university? Cross training can always become beneficial.

Alright, thanks I will try it.

Proforce are the only ones that dont tether on the lapels for me...all the other ones like century and the ones from Karate depot all tether...not sure about Shureido tho but I like proforce.

oooh graphite...I love those...but im not allowed to have them.... My Shihan Sensei when he holds tournaments he 'tests' the Bo on his thigh...if it snaps...its no good...so he snapped a few of mine..I use all Ash for mine now, white wax is good because they are light, but I love how heavy my ash seems to be when your working with it for a long time.

Because my goal is to figure out why their are so many differant martial arts, and why people keep breaking away from their "core" style and changing on thing, they make a totally differant name...such as kissaki kai...all the katas are shotokan...but they delve deeper into Bunkai thats all... By studying more styles you can understand more about the lineage and line of martial arts. I have a couple of black belts, usually I am always traveling and the styles i learn are not every where I go so I continue to train different styles. My Shihan sensei has 9 black belts. 4 shodans, three nidan one sandan and one rokudan. My goal is to emulate him. I think I have 4 dan levels maybe five...but I dont keep full track of them all the styles blend together after a while, so I like to think of myself as a advocate for martial arts...do any martial art you can but always better your self in it...for some its best to stay in one style, for me I like to move around. In three years I am moving to lower michigan for five-six years thats why i am asking about newer martial arts now. Hopefully this answered the question, if not feel free to ask more in detail.

Wow...kudos to you for sure haha. I wouldn't have the patience to deal with that...

Ibuki breathing is usually done in the Yoi position in most katas but in Goju Ryu their sanchin Kata has that heavy deep breathing all the way through...when I first started I would end up choking on my phlegm...sick I know haha. Heres a linik Ibuki is all the loud noises haha

Im still considering the differant styles Kissaki would be easier for me because I have prior training in all their katas...Kissaki has more of a bunkai break down in a modern way. I would like to continue my Uechi Ryu and I would also like to continue my Shito Ryu and Shorin Ryu, but now Enshin Kyokushinkai has been thrown to me so I may take that as well to increase my sparring. I have training in Sanda so Enshin should compliment it well...so im still thinking thats why I want input on differant styles as well as Kissaki...but I dont notice anyone on here who is a member of it.

They use a white wax wood which is extremely flexible, so that it is harder to snap against the blunt force of another qiang.

The way the ranking systems tend to work....
Traymond replied to bushido_man96's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
But how many classes do you have a week and how many hours are they? Perhaps your system wants to see how much they are practicing at home and not just at the dojang. -
And their are also some people like me...that no matter what your style or what your rank has no feeble recognition for any one other than his teacher. My opinion in martial arts is that you can learn everything half right but you will always have your whole life to perfect it...thats my philosophy. I learn all that I can in the time I am their and then I spend my life perfecting it as far as I can. I look at a TaE Kwon Do champion the same as I look at a kyokushinkai champion, they are good, but they can always spend their time to improve their style as well. Five years in one style is enough time to grant someone a ikkyu especially with someone transversed in other arts not just one.

Wow alot of law enforcement people here. Thats good. So did you start taking martial arts before or after your career choice was made? And I would work at the cafe just to drink coffee for free, haha.

I hear these kinds of opinions and philosophies to learning the Martial Arts all the time. But, who is to say what one's goal should be when undertaking MA training? I say it is up to the person undertaking the training. I'm sure that Gichin Funakoshi was a great man. He did many things for Karate. I have read his book The Twenty Guiding Principles of Karate; it is a good read, too. However, just because Funakoshi said it, does not make it so for me. So, I choose what I think are the things that I want to garner from my MA training, and that is what I want to get out of it. I don't need MA training to make me a better person, my upbringing as a child is what focuses me in that approach. Not Martial Arts training. Exactly! I think so to. In your response, you use the word think. The nature of the meaning here makes your viewpoint an opinion. There are a lot of opinions in the world of Martial Arts training, let alone the world in general. So, the opinion of one will not necessarily reflect the opinion, philosophy, or beliefs of the other. The philosophy of the martial artist is based on his or her style and his or her Teacher. They both instill what is inside of the martial artist...indeed this is another opinion...but what your teacher believes in usually gets mimicked by the student...unless the student is to "hard headed" to grasp the concepts of what their teacher is trying to say...they will never truly learn their art 100%

And when you get done working out...make fries...the potassiums good for you. But to bulk up muscle you should eat a portion of carbs before the work out and lots of protein after the work out.
-
for pectoral muscles try "diamond" push ups...you should be able to find a nic description on youtube. For deltoids grab a sack of potatoes and throw them over your shoulder and lift up slowly and let down slowly continue on the other arm as well.
-
That was my next question BD...haha. I only get three channels at the moment, so to say I dont watch Tv would no longer be a lie....
-
As long as they give me a month to get up to par I should be all right then. Thanks... At first...haha...whuh... haha.

So is that part time or full time?

One Inch Punch, and..
Traymond replied to Traymond's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
Now...what if we remove the term magic from the word Qi, and refer to the English translation of ki (qi) which is circulating energy, we take into mind Qigong an internal art based only on Qi effects. When you take away the term magic its no longer a hard to understand figment of someones imagination. Its an art form all in itself. Its a science as well as an art. Something that we have to turn into a certain sense such as if it were a smell or a taste. Because with this we allow it to attach itself to us and to become one with us. Is it alive...no, only alive and present if we believe it to be and truly allow our hearts to open up to it. -

Is it possible that while we are visualizing certain things our brain can have a chemical reaction and send out different chemicals to power our body? I.E. Endorphins, endocannabanoids, etc etc.
