  5. Haha. I wonder if they are going to make a work out named the superman...they have a fighting technique called it already...
  6. My opinion is that you should train mind and body, so that your un aware of what it is working, your mind or your body. That way we can always keep and open mind to all things to do with the arts.
  7. Has any one ever bought anything from Kereke.com?
  8. go 45 degrees to the right, transitioning into Neko Ashi Dachi, and then shuto uke with right hand.
  9. What is your philosophy of the one inch punch and it having to deal with Ki or Chi energy?? I believe that you have to have Ki (chi) to have a good one inch punch, thats my opinion, but whats yours?
  10. Speaking of poetry Imagawa Sadayo has alot of poetry dealing with Zen (Particularly Zazen)
  11. For round kicks I tend to go the same way the kicks are going. I love it when people under turn, and then they get landed with a fist to their stomach or their chest. And then I hear "Ippon, Ippon"...haha.
  12. I love tamales from scratch.
  13. It also depends on what style as well. Like in Uechi Ryu a strong emphasis on the basics are ultimately needed to continue through ranks. Such as Sanchin and Sanchin Kitae, it is done almost at every class. Their wait between ranks are longer because of the reason, that you need to keep these basics with you at all times. I think that higher ranks need to show that they have patience, before they can become a senior ranked member. This way it shows that they are not "anticipating" but yet they really are. I for one dont like the time constraints. People who are really serious into martial arts tend to loose patience and then they leave never to be seen again.
  14. qiang, is just the general name for a spear. I'm not sure what time of spear it is, but generally it is a spear. Most Contemporary and modern wushu schools teach the spear and some certain tai chi schools teach it. I believe the Wu family is one of them.
  15. That could be a good reason. but I wonder what they would have called it if their were no spiderman?...
  16. If you take Matayoshi or Yamashita Kobudo you should be learning the sansetsukun right after the chuks
  17. I also teach at my house to some of the kids that cannot afford to come to class. I teach them for free Kobudo ands Shinchuurou Te. That usually goes from 8pm till like 10pm on saturdays.
  18. Haha I dont quite understand why they call them spiderman push ups, they dont really look like a spiderman but oh well. I prefer hindu push ups over those but I still do all of them.
  19. Oh yeah I completely forgot about hapkido, that is true. it has alot of Manipulations similar to Chin na, alot to do with the wrist and finger tips. Wado is good, the basic self defense series of the wado ryu style was extremely efficient.
  20. That should show you pretty well I think,.
  21. Hmmm I love Capoeria...but their is no place to take it up here in michigan. I took some in california, but their is no where to do it up here.
  22. Uechi Ryu and Uechi Ryu influenced Kobudo using the tekko, Chisai Kun BO and the Jiwa are good standing grappling and striking martial arts. Also Shuai and Sanda have small standing grappling. But I would try to move away from some of the grappling and work on your weaker points like the parts you do not like such as throwing. Take some traditional Kodokan Judo or Aikido to learn to throw better.
  23. Can you teach full classes at your shodan? Or can you only assist? Im curious as to how differant styles let their black belts teach.
  24. Talk to your sensei about it. It seems that he is trying to push people mentally in differant ways than just martial arts. Maybe these kids need to know the true harshness of the real world. My shidoshi does that to me all the time. When I was 8 he sent me crying home. I forgave him but everyday he would do it worse, and finally when he gave me my shodan one day he told me that the way he treated me then made me who I am today.
