What kai katas do you know. and do you use an angled Kai or a straight Kai?
-
So these are my two favorite weapons. I can win with both against someone using the other. But I want to know your opinions on the matter. Who do you think would win and why?

If the confrontation cant be avoided....

It is unavoidable when the "assailant" steps towards you, as I have been taught...in a real opinion which is mine in another words, but whatever... If someone is coming at your with a knife its unavoidable, if someone is screaming at you and coming towards you its unavoidable...if someone is talking to you and moving his hands are to much, I would say just to be safe to incapacitate him...but thats just me. Im to quick to look at someone and wonder if they truly mean to hurt me, and usually if I dont know them then I think they would... -
Why let the physical dojo be the only dojo you go to? Everywhere should be your dojo.

Quickest to Blackbelt status?

Are you a dan rank in Tae Kwon do or Brazilian Jiu Jitsu? -
But criminally that was smarter than hijacking a car... $25per, thats pretty good I have to admit myself, but I think that, that would be an unrealistic price, around here the highest they go up is $15. Im not sure if you dealt with any criminals who hijacked a car...but if you have then you would know that they wouldn't hijack a car to get high from the funds of it.
-
But If worse comes to worse I have seen an incident where someone taped thin peaces of neoprene onto the bo but then again you would still not be able to see the Ash...so I would just go with a light sand paper and have some olive or clove oil on hand. and no problem, im your weapons care man, haha.

Yeah, and with most martial arts stores they offer cheap wholesale to teachers and schools. Like I can get a nice 12 oz uniform for a student for ten dollars, cheap when your looking at 50 bux a month from one kid.
-
Hmmmm....Thats one point, but weed is cheaper and in my area their is very little dope only Weed. So it would be pointless to jack a car for dope, and its unheard of for drug related crimes in my area, obviously I do not live in the City anymore. So, I guess it depends on where your location if most of all. But Why would someone hijack a car, why wouldn't they just hot wire a unoccupied one, wouldn't it make sense to draw the least attention possible?

Oh yes improvised weapons are extremely fun, I love using spatulas, haha. No but my real favorite improvised weapon would have to be the tire Iron not the cross one but just the two sided one, I mean...if you hit someone across the skull with one of those...LIGHTS OUT!...haha.

Yah I dont mind soreness either..I started this thread to help my students out...they get sore alot, I tell them without pain dont expect to get black belt level, but they never listen...they are constatly trying to vitamins.

To Keep a school up and running these days in my own experience you have to do alot of advertising and alot of giving away. you see a birthday give them a weapon or a new uniform for their birthday they wont a medal give them a prize, hold tournaments teach weapons its alot to do to keep a school up and running, and I dont think it is any longer possible to live off of teaching martial arts.

You need to remove the lacquer from the bo...no matter how much you dont want to...its gonna have to happen if you want to lose the sweaty hands...but if you oil the bo with linseed oil or olive oil it will keep a glossy look clove oil also works...and it wont be slippery or anything...the oil kinda cures the 'raw' wood.

I have taken Yoshinkan, Yafu and Matayoshi Kobudo. We have done weapons such as the, Jiwa Chisai Kun tonfa (tuifa) Sai Kama Rokushaku Bo goshaku Bo Jo Eku Naginata Tanto Thats the whole list of the weapons that I have done. It is optional...but its also in the monthly package so why not do it? their are testings in our kobudo as well seperate from our Karate

Bas Rutten Street Defense
Traymond replied to Wa-No-Michi's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I'm with tallgeese here. Especially when size and weight factors become a disparity. Knowing and using your environment can give you the advantage that you need to be able to escape an attacker, and his buddies. I found Mr. Rutten very entertaining to listen to, as well. I think he would be a fun guy to get into the gym with. He seems very knowledgable. I agree with the distance by using the chair, but still I doubt I would ever slam someones head into a table....I like that technique by breaking their arm with the knee... ...but if worse came to worse I would probably just hit them in the throat...now thats pretty bad...prolly worse than slamming their head...but...i dont know haha...im not really sure. -

I cannot see myself slamming someones face into a table...or picking up a chair to defend myself... -

Do you not feel that a 1st brown cannot teach a green belt what they need to know?
-
Hmmm I will be careful...I spose we don't want to end up having a church become a confrontational war front...
-
Thank you
