  4. Here is a youtube link for hindu push ups
  5. Wouldn't it be kinda dumb to be showing off if your under a black belt?...I mean what can you truly be showing off to other people, who do not know the importance of the obi... Even me if I see someone walking around wearing a green belt im pretty sure it would just be something I smirked at....it holds no recognition to my mind unless its black belt, because those are the ones who people actually mentally think of that are capable of showing off...
  6. What foods can I eat that are low sodium and low sugar thats affordable and thats easy to snack on. Im looking for stuff thats high in protein and filling. I need to remove some sodium and ALOT of the sugar in my diet. I dont drink pop, and I dont eat alot of candies, but their are alot of other foods that are salty....and sugary.
  7. Who hear does them, and who hear also does the perfect push up... And can I please know your thoughts on which one is better. I get a better work out with the hindu push ups.
  8. Bolo Yeung and Jean Claude Van Damme in Blood Sport Donnie Yen and Jet Li in Hero Jet Li And Shido Nakamura in Fearless Jet Li and Jean Claude Leuyer in fearless jet Li and Russel Wong in Romeo Must Die
  9. Hmmm in one of the schools I help teach in, we charge a flat rate and you can participate in all the classes. $50.00 And you get access to Iaido, Kobudo, Karate Do, Aerobics and Self defense
  10. Im in a dojo a physical place actually called a dojo 3-5 times a week
  11. If I were you... I would not join a school, if I cannot observe a class beforehand. I would not leave a school just because I dont feel like Myself or the higher ranks are not qualified, I would try my best to MAKE myself qualified. An instructor can only do so much, after that its up to the student to fulfill their dreams in martial arts and their expectations.
  12. I think I only listened to music one or two times while working out, and that was some Tupac and Snoop...some might say that its not exactly the best martial music, but, hey its my style of music. But im not a real fan of listening to music, I kinda lose my "fierce" side when im listening to music.
  13. When I was in pentjak silat, they always told us to never let your hands move past your ribs in an attempt to take a bladed weapon away, wait till the momentum exerts downs then you can guide it away from your easier.
  14. Hmmm, I think it is great that you are trying to do kumite with all of your restrictions. But dont let them be just that, work around them, learn them. After all Kumite symbolizes a real fight, and a real fight is real. If your left side is bad do your best to keep your right forward and work on your foot work sliding in and out of techniques, cross training in capoeria is good for that as welll. Thats about all that I can say, learn the triangle step of capoeria.
  15. I dont see the differance. I dont see why it should matter. The Gi is just a resemblance of tradition Japanese clothing, the obi is just to take the place of the sash, also known as obi. I would never wear it for fear of looking a fool. But I wear it daily as I train at home, or in my dojo, or in my teachers dojo. To wear the uniform is just an act of tradition, it serves no other purpose. Why have rules that state for people to wear the gi at certain times only?
  16. Erin, I also agree with you on that concept about Naihanchi Shodan, which is why its not one of may favorites, well not until I have it mastered..haha. And I do appreciate how Rohai helps with balance.
  17. It is especially since my teacher teaches about 4-6 classes a week. Not including private lessons. Plus the classes that I teach and another black belt teaches.
  18. Favorite Judo Technique Ura Nage I think if this technique can be done correctly...its beautiful and requires alot of strength to do it correctly.
  19. My School that I attend has just renovated their pricing, haha..; One month - 40 two months 70 three month - 100 four month - 115 And daily rate 4 bucks But my teacher is extremely nice, half of his students havent even paid in three month. I take lessons free because I teach Judo, and brasshand style their for free, but I donate alot to the school still.
  20. Ok thats sounds fairly logical, but... I have a low lactic acid expulsion rate, and I dont get sore as often as most people even my peers do. I can work out longer and not feel the pain like most people would. But those with higher Lactic Acid expulsion rates do feel more pain the day or so after working out quite vigorously.
  21. Thanks, do you know what else can be used other than Whey Protein and Potassium?
  22. JUst though I should add this about lung cancer, just because it sounds so freaky. In February 2004 Jim Fung was diagnosed with an already advanced case of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. A rare form of throat cancer, it is 100 times more prevalent in people from South East China and Hong Kong. Yip Man, his Sigung, also died of throat cancer. His overseas training visits to Tsui Seung Tin, daily training regimen and teaching continued during treatment, his condition unbeknownst by his students . He continued up until days before passing away March 18th, 2007, aged 62. A donor to cancer research himself, a memorial fund was established with proceeds going to the Queensland Institute of Medical Research and the Oncology Department of St Vincent's Hospital.
  23. Hmmm I smoke quite often, and I can say that it does not effect my training, but I also work out quite rigorously so that I can hopefully negate the effects of the smoking, hehe...but it started when I was younger, damn peer pressure, but anyways. I eat healthy, and I am under alot of stress, but I do not have any problems with my heart. I eat authentic Asian foods all the time and I have no problems...
  24. Hmmm Iron sifu you seem to be a very intelligent person, a man of not just martial skill I spose, but also a man of intellectual beauty.
