Your Opinion on Tuition & Attendance / Training
Traymond replied to Tiger1962's topic in Instructors and School Owners
Haha. Thanks. -
Wall no. Standard makiwara sure. Go mount some wood to that wall, and go at it.

What I noticed about it, is the more you work out, the less it seems to bother you, does this seem accurate to any of you?
-
So their is nothing that can be taken to reduce the amount of lactid acid that is released, before it is released.?

Hmmm if I were to charge I would just be like 35 bux for eight lessons and they get like a punch card or something, and you can up the price if you wanted to. Punch cards are not that expensive, and all you need is a regular paper hole puncher. I mean you wont have to worry about them punching them, themselves, now would we?...haha -
What belt should you compete at?
Traymond replied to white owl's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
We have a similar system at our school. Most people choose to wear the regular coloured belts. Depending on their skill level, they are sometime allowed to do multiple gradings and skip belt colours as long as they meet the requirements (In our style, each belt sort of represents a new skill e.g. yellow- elbows/knees, purple- takedowns/self defense, green- ground fighting etc). I heard the head instructor tell one new student that he wouldn't make anyone take off their black belt because that would be like saying that you have 'unlearned' everything you already know. Yeah, my schools allow for people to do multiple testing as long as they have the required amount of time and they know what they need to know to pass it. -
But in a lawful situation, it should not be the instructors fault, just because the aspect of the instructor is to test his students anyways, what better way than to pit the student against a higher rank? In alot of styles, Higher ranks spare lower ranks for testing, and vice versa depending on their mental and physical attitude.

So they are both sword martial arts, they both use a weapon thats a bokken, but the Korean term is different. They all wear the bogu, once again the Korean term is different. Kumdo is Way of the sword in Korean Kendo is way of the sword in Japanese. Japan took over korea for quite some time, so my question to those who have taken up Kumdo and know about kendo, are they same or differant, I have done some Kendo before and iaido, but never Kumdo. So if someone could shine some light on the style of Kumdo, please do so it will be greatly appreciated.

Haha, One of my first five animal style lessons, I got hit on the nose and it started to bleed, so my sifu stopped the bleeding, but he also stuck tiger balm up my nose, it cleaned it out so no infection would get into it, but it burned like things I rather not say. It took my 3 hours before my nose felt normal again. He said it was a lesson in mind over matter.

Hmmmm so this is a bit of information for me as well. So even if you have signed a no liability waver saying that the school or any of its affiliates are not liable for any mishaps, or injuries that happen within the hall the instructor could still be held liable if it were a misrepresented sparring match?

Martial Arts movies...good or bad?
Traymond replied to Traymond's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
Hmmm I still think that it discourages newer martial artists, because that is their goal, and then when we have toi break it to them, they usually dont come back afterwards. -
Hmmm I dint know about the potassium thing, so thanks for that, haha.

got any tiger balm or linseed oil?

So im trying to figure out a way for my students to work out without having so much lactid acid escaping from their muscles, do you know of any supplements that can help them with this?

How do you train more without getting sore?
Traymond replied to samoht's topic in Health and Fitness
When I first started off I could only work out three days a week, now I work out seven days a week for three hours a day doing martial arts and weight lifting and ab work. -
Did your dad teach you how to fight?
Traymond replied to bushido_man96's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
My parents are against fighting, as am I, I took up martial arts for fun, now I take it for fun still, but how ever if I had to fight, I know for sure that I would be able to defend my self efficiently, by effieciently I mean that I would make my opponent want to stop fighting, because they can only use so much physical power to defeat me, after a while he will be physically wore out, and I would be able to do what ever I want to him, that is if it were only one person. If there were more, then I would have to rely on the emphasis of hitting your opponent one time, like in the throat, neck, nose, temple, solar plexus to remove my opponents from my path. -
rank test how do you figure what to charge?
Traymond replied to jaedeshi's topic in Instructors and School Owners
I charge nothing, but i decide when they test. -
Some forms of Tae Kwon Do speak in Japanese, due to the influence of Japan when it took over Korea. If you havent noticed that "Do" in Japanese martial arts and in Korean martial arts refer to "The Way". And it may have been a Nihongo Jin teaching it. But it does seem that she was trying to empty her cup for the new classes.

What belt should you compete at?
Traymond replied to white owl's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
We should all respect people for their rank, but they should also respect the hall that they are visiting by not trying to show off as well, and this does just that. it shows their rank and the rank we give them. -
Red Belt.
Traymond replied to NewEnglands_KyoSa's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
I like the movie. It was realistic, and it was down to earth. What I did not like about the movie, is that they had the concept of Honor completely wrong, when they portrayed the cop. The cop did not have to kill himself to uphold his teacher honor and the honor of the dojo. He never dishonored either one, but yet he felt he did, even if he felt he did their was no need to kill himself, and he did not even do it in a ritualistic way, so even if he did it for the honor, did he even regain anything back?, he left his wife without money where is the honor in that, he even caused his Sensei and the dojo more problems. -
Is martial arts movies truly good for martial arts businesses? Now a days you see Jet li and other martial artists flying through the air and kicking 8 feet in the air, is it beneficial or bad for the people who open up martial arts schools? I mean im sure its good for the beginning, with all the people wanting to learn how to fly and etc, but most of them eventually leave. I started off with about 45 students altogether, but they all leave because I cannot teach them how to levitate or fly or break 15 bricks in a row. Now I have around twenty. What are your opinions?
