Speeds like bruce lee can be achieved simply by training , i dont mean to brag but i think ive become as quick or very close to the speeds that bruce was doing back in the day. But speed can also be a negative , so there should be a balance between speed and power. As for doing kata's at high speeds i think its stupid because you should learn every single movement well before even trying to go faster.

question about pressure points/softer tissues
yingampyang replied to boyo1991's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
There are hundreds of presure points, so i wont list them. But style you are learning wont teach you many, you need to do nin-jitsu so learn many of these presure points. But there is one style that will teach you all of them and that is CDA , but this is hard to find and very expensive. -
I have my own school, and i teach my stundents blocking techniques all the time, and i have them play it out agianst an oppoent and also in a situation. Blocking is very important for martial arts and should be teached in every school

Why I like JKD
yingampyang replied to Malldetective's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
There are many useful styles that dont have history , and kata's like tradional MA's but this does not mean they are not martial arts. Styles like MMA , CDA , and street fighting dont have kata's but are extremly effective styles. -
I have many different black belts , but they all mean nothing to me. martial arts is not about grading and competing with others to say "ive got a higher belt ranking" , its about the knowlege and how well u use it. Ive seen a blue belt beat a black belt 2 dan in 30 seconds. So its all about how good ur knowlege is of the art and how good your are as a person.

I do not try to argue with you , because obvisly you know what ur talking about , But martial arts has been around for thousands of years , and i will follow that before i follow science which has only been around for 100 years. -
Yes i do , i am over there sometimes. I am more of an administrator.

Ahhh, i hear that alot from alot of poeple , but u are wrong im afriad. The mind is what contols you when your awake, and what remebers every step and plays a large part in learning martial arts. It is like the machine. But sprit is like personality , it is what makes you what you are and how you react to what is happing around you. For eg. you have two types of people 1 who is shy and doesn't want to fight, and the other who is crzy and wants to get it on lol , that is there personality abs sprit. Good question. jay -
This is a good topic . No i am not afriad to die , because death is apart of life.

The best way to explan is that pain is an illusiuon , its your mind telling you that something hurts. Now if you can train your mind to not listen to the pain reflex you will see that you wont have much pain anymore. But on the other hand pain is good , necause it helps you learn and grow into a great martial artist.

Different things keeps different people motivated. AS for my self i was always motivated from a young age i just had a love for the martial arts. Also any touraments i had coming up really got me motivated aswell. Its all about yourself and wat will motivate you.

This is all intorduction pain , it will go with time. But then agian there are some of my stundents that suffer from it really badly and are still doing training after 6 months , its all about streching and conditioning your body. Only then will you get the full potenial of your body.(temple)

Your workout plan atm is good , but you need to concentrate on the kicking more , and make sure that you are doing some type of excerise 7 days aweek.
