Intense MA Styles
yingampyang replied to Jayare012's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
If you want something that gives alot of hand techniques you should try western boxing or Wing Chun. Also many types of karate have alot of exceise work and have an equal balance between feet and hands. Either try the ones ive mentioned above or types of kickboxing that would also suite your needs. -
Looking for Advice.
yingampyang replied to Descartes's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
I think that you should start off with the Muay Thai , that would get you into shape in no time. Then after you have doen say 6-8 months of that and your body is more leaner, you should go and take the other 2 clases. As Tai Chi is not much of a MA it is still vital to keepin clear mind. -
Its good to learn as much as you can , fill your mind with information. So i say do wateva school that is around you and then in the future when someone says have you done thing "blah lbah blah" your can say yes! and give advice. And also be able to use it.

I have done countless styles and mixed everything up into 1. I have been training and learning for 23 years and after the first 5 to 6 years it became second nature. Now i can do it in my sleep. Its all about practice the more you do the more it takes ova you and u will act very quickly in a fight situation.

Welcome to the martial arts. The key to flexabilty is streching, strech before and after training and this will help your flexabilty increase. Also there are many types of equipment out there that can help with flexability , you just have to search around.

Judo vs Jiu Jitsu (BJJ)
yingampyang replied to Jermz's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
Okay, ive done both and you are correct when saying that judo focuses on take downs , and ju-jitsu focuses on submissions. I think that you should go for ju-jitsu first and then when you are comfortable with it go and do some judo aswell. This will be a great mix and you will have a strong take down and really gud submission. -
"shotokan Karate a precise history" , is a very interesting book. i recomend you read it.

okay gud point, but lets picture a situation two fighter are at the same level 1 has learnt from a teacher the other from a book , i garante that the one how has learnt from the teacher and has sparring experience will win hands down. you get the information from books and videos , but you willl never get the experience, which in the long run is what will help the most.

It is not a rival of arts , but more so which country it comes from , be it korea , china, or japan.

Im sorry to tell you that martial arts is a handing down process from teacher to student, and can not be learnt from a book

the "Death Touch"
yingampyang replied to Jarad's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
no your right it would not have results 100% of the time. it is a very trickly move to do and needs lots of practice. There has been studies on where to hit and if a human can hit with enough force to kill in one punch , and the results say that a hit direct to the sternum with 500 pounds of force is enough to kill. now most martial artists hit with 700 to 1000 pounds so its no problem. -

true bush. but its depends on his bullies. -
no problem , any other question just ask.

yes that is true , but if he learns to train his mind aswell as his body it shouldn't be a problem. You carn't run a car to the best of its ability without an engine.

What Martial Arts Have You Studied
yingampyang replied to Takusankage Soke's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Well like most people i started training at a young age (3 years old) i am now 26. i use i spent more time on marital arts then on school, it is very interesting for me , and after researching about bruce lee i started JKD and stried to get as much information as i could, and today i am still looking for new things and are getting involved in other styles. How did you get involved in TKD? Hmmm! At 26 you are just a youngan really, and sure, your CV is impressive. Did you do most of this at the same studio? If not you must have been training for about 10 hours a day for your entire life. Training in different styles, is a bit like digging holes in the dessert for water. Some will dig for a foot or so and if they dont find water, will start digging another hole. They will repeat this process until they find what they are looking for, even if it means they dig 100 holes. Others will keep digging downward in the same hole until they find water, even if they dig 100 foot. That was a nice little quote. It all comes down to what you want to spend time on and what you dont. some styles i only took a little time with untill i got wat i want out of it and then i got rid of wat was useless to me. And i did train extremly hard for many years of my younger life , and i am still training 6-8 hours a day. I love the martial arts and the spiritual aspect of it. and i will continue to better my self in the up coming years. -
