  1. Welcome aboard!!
  2. Welcome aboard Simon!!
  3. Thanks for the advise Truestar, and Rateh. I have been trying to find some more fun drills for them, but hate rewarding them with games when they don't put forth the effort in class. Maybe I'll try to do some fun drills at the begining of class or in between some of our normal drills.
  4. I have tried fat burners as well. One that worked rather well was called Hot Stuffxxx the stuff was amazing it really got you amped up and sweating before you set foot in the gym. Of course this was way before the ban on ephedrine. I have tried some others as well and would not recommend them, period, instead save your money watch your caloric intake and keep working hard.
  5. The ages are from 9-12 and from white belt to youth black. The newest has been training for a few months and the oldest one for about 4 yrs. We have tried to be energetic, and even play "games" with them and this still doesn't seem to work. I know that you will always have a the "10%" that you just cant get through to but it seems like when they see that one student start slacking they all follow suit .
  6. In our kids class we have a few children who just don't seem to be into it. Before class they are full of energy, but as soon as class starts they act drained. This drives myself and the other senseis nuts. My question is this. Does anybody else have this problem and if so how do you motivate these kids???
  7. 20 for kyu tests and 50 for dan
  8. We must also remember that the cage and rules set up for MMA were created by the Gracies to showcase and accommodate their style over others.
  9. For lats do Pull ups, experiment with different grips ( wide, shoulder width, neutral,) For tris try dips and push ups, as with pullups try different hand possitions (wide, shoulder width, diamond(with thumbs and forefingers touching)). Hope these help.
  10. This absolutely drives me nuts. People thinking that "MMA" is the ultimate fighting art. As I see it, it's a sport with rules, and not a practical self defense system for the street. I do enjoy watching it but I see it more as a sport than an art.

  14. Can't wait YO JOE!!!!
  15. Wrist curls and reverse wrist curls are great, you could also use a wrist roller. another good and cheap devise is a tennis ball for gripping.
  16. I actually do both but I prefer running I just seem to get more out of it. Plus it gives me time to myself so I can think whereas biking I have to worry more about traffic.
  17. I think if he is openly gay then he should be the one to tell your instructor not you. If by chance your instructor has a problem with it then maybe it would be time to find another school.
  18. Welcome from a fellow Shotokan stylist!!
  19. I agree the fights were not all that exciting for what it was built up to be. Lesnar definitely showed a real lack of class after his destruction of Mir.
  20. How does everyone feel about having patches on your gi's ? Our senseis ranking instructor, who happens to be from a different school, wants the students at our school to have his schools patches on our gis. I for one don't like wearing any patches on my gi. Just curious as to how everybody else feels.
