  1. I think it's waste of time, if you want to know how to fight, you have to fight with a person, not with the air.
  2. 3.000 times is only a number. You have to practice a technique over, over, and over so that you can do it natural manner, many times... roll, roll ..

  4. Yes it is, i've never done Muay Thai neither but i would want if i find a school
  5. my style is BJJ, i enjoy roll and that i can defeat opponents larger than me, it's effective out and in the ring
  6. If you want a really grappling art i suggest you take BJJ, Judo, Sambo, etc. But definately NOT WC
  7. I suggest you these: - Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (ground fighting) - Muay Thai (striking) - Kali (weapons)
  8. It depends, it could be helpful in that you can complement each with other, or it can be a disadvantage becasue you could mix the things (with more reason if you're a beginner).
  9. I think grappling is very important as striking is. Althought most fights ends on the ground, they begin standup, so you have to be efficient in both.
  10. It could be very useful in a self-defense situation i think. Kali is great.
  11. My favorites are round house kick, armlocks (from all positions), and triangle choke

  13. I would suggest you learn some grappling, and takedowns defenses if you don't want to go to ground. Look at Chuck Lidell, he do Kenpo and Kickboxing, and has a very good takedown defense, so, of course you can enter in a nhb, but in nowdays, is better to be well rounded that only know stand up or grappling stuff alone.
  14. I have some point of views about Kata's I like Kata's, they look good, but in what i'm not agree with the MA that practice them, is that many loss many time practicing them and don't spar, or get belts only by know all katas :S
  15. Of course man, boxing would be a good choice for self defense.

  17. i see jiu-jitsu fighter, i've read in the internet that it takes about 2-3 years that's why i asked... But, i am afraid that when the test date arrives i won't be to blue belt level, for example if i present the test, and pass it, could i still wear my white belt until i feel confident and confotable with the blue one?
  18. I'm training 3 x week, he said us that our next check is in april/may and the stripe test is about June/July, i could do that, but for the belt exam should i talk with him and tell that i would preffer to take more time or something?

I have 3 months training in BJJ, yesterday we had a "check", my instructor said we have to present two checks so we can present the test (the test is free, checks are not) to get stripes, i began to train in last octuber. I asked my instructor and he said that the next check is in last days of April or begginning May, and the test will be like in June or July (i don't know how many stripes he's gonna give), and that the belt exam will be (aprox) beggining next year (January or February) We train 3 x week. My instructor gave us a program with lessons, i think it is good so because it's organizated, and he said that the objective of checks are to review how we are in specific technique so we can know what is bad and what not. Now, my question is, i know that in bjj you don't get belts by 'time in', instead it's like you advance, but i thought if the belt exam is next year in January or February i will have by then like 1 year and 3 months or something of training, isn't it little time to get blue belt? I've read that it takes (in average) 2-3 years to get promoted, so what do you think about it? Should i tell something to my instructor or it is good like it is? Thank you very much by your opinions.
