  1. diamonddick i don't a naked person will attack you.. that's sound too weird.. maybe the person could have t-shirt off, but nude, dno't think so..
  2. I want to begin train in Judo to do a crosstraining with BJJ to improve my standing up game. But like you say three60roundhouse what i've seen is that throws in Judo depends on Gi, so if the person hasn't a Gi, instead a t-shirt or none, can't do them?
  3. Define self-defense. One of the more "showy" features about Muay Thai, is that it doesn't take long time to learn it, you can learn it quickly (of course, it varies from person to person, but generally). Muay Thai doesn't teach you how to deffend against a knife attack, or something like that, it's only oriented to "fight".
  4. I think, all these Martial Arts that depends of strength and flexibility (TKD, Muay Thai, etc) when you are in a certain age, you can't practice it (them) with effectivity. They can be very good, impressive, etc while you're young, and have flexibility and all that, but once you get old, you're almost over. That's why i preffer martial arts that doesn't care your phisic condition, age, sex, et. Like BJJ
  5. Yes, it happens like the boxers, you can do it very well while you are young, but when you're old, you can suffer of Parkinson, difficulties to walk, etc.. Of course, it all depends about how intensive your training is.
  6. Welcome my friend, from Venezuela! Hope you bee fine here
  7. Martial Artist: bien, gracias.. vaya, hay varios que hablan español aqui..
  8. SubmissionFighter: que tal amigo? gracias, al menos otro latino aqui
  9. Xtreme Fury: I took Karate when i was like 14 years old, and got my yellow belt, i left it because in my opinion it's very unrealistic, and those katas are bullshit and waste of time. After it, with my cousin, we got into an Aikido school, i was there for about 3 months, and quit And after it, my uncle suggest me that took TKD (he is a TKD black belt), and i took it, made it from about 9 months, and quit. I'm not saying i don't like these, instead, i think for a real fight situation they aren't useful. But like a sport, particulary, i love taekwondo, it's very impressive
  10. El Guerrero Loco: it's not ridiculous, in a street fight situation, nothing is written, anything can happen. Theorically the Muay Thai fighter should beat the street fighter, but what if the street fighter can strike if he has an opportunity the Muay Thai fighter's nose and break it, and KO him? I've seen many people that practice MA that have been defeated by somebody that don't practice anything. As i said before, all depends in the situation, and how good are the fighters
  11. Kensai I'm not telling that the Aikido is bad, i only said that in my opinion i wouldn't take it to learn self-defense. Yes, you are right, i have no taken enought time in Aikido to say it, but what i have seen, is what i said, get it? You are free to choose the MA with you feel better, if you feel fine with Aikido, cool
  12. Kensai: YEs, i'm new and what? that's my opinion, and i think you should respect it, as i respect yours. i've practiced Aikido for 3 months, and that is my opinnion. NHB could be commercial, but is in those events where you see the effectiveness of an art with respect others. I like Aikido, but for self-defense i don't think it be so effective like BJJ for example.
  13. I began to do pushups for my triceps and pectorals, but they also help to improve my resistance?
  14. Yeah, i think it's unrealistic because the techniques come from attacks that in a real fight never would happen. I don't know if when you are advanced they teach you techniques for realistic moves, but what i have seen, it's not. that's my opinion
  15. LOL is what i say, when somebody tells me that karate and TKD works for a real fight. tell me something, why have never a Karate or TKD practicioner, have won in a NHB event? they don't have a chance in a real fight
  16. I'd suggest you if it, if you want an impressive MA, and a cool sport, with a little of knowledge of self-defense. BTW, if you want a really self-defense's system, don't take TKD, in a real fight, it's very limitated the things you can do with it.
  17. Mmmm... i'd say: kick to the knee, and if you have the oportunity kick to the stomatch or face, if you connect it good, you can easily leave out of combat your opponent
  18. i'm agree with ckdstudent i think grappling is so good, because you use it in almost any fight you have, almost 90% of fights end in the ground, and there, almost anybody knows what to do, and if you know grappling, you can dominate your opponent in seconds.
  19. I think it depends.. depends in if the other guy knows how to fight, he knows MA or something.. i know a little about TKD, and sometimes, when i was playing with some friends that don't have any MA experience, i could sorprise them with a high kick but in a real fight, i'd think it two times because throw one. if you are fast, and strong enough so your opponent can't take your leg, you can use it effectively
  20. I like Aikido as an art, it's very cool, but i'd not take it to learn self-defense. it takes too many time for dominate a technique, and all its moves, are very unrealistics. However, i've seen some Aikido's demostration, and it's very impressive
  21. yes and no TKD is also called "Korean Karate", in fact, when TKD came to america, it was know as "Korean Karate" and no as "taekwondo" because nobody knew wtf that mean. Today, TKD is sightly different from Shotokan, and Karate in general. In TKD you work around 70% of kicks, and 30% (maybe less) of hand work, in fact, many people that have seen TKD fights have asked me "they only can kick? no punching?" but they have some things in common, like both have "kata's" (in TKD they are called "figures") and so on...
  22. I'll mix Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. That's my favorite combo There you have stand up and striking style which is very effective, and realistic, and the best ground fighting system if the fight go to the ground (that is almost true). I wouldn't mix any of McDojos styles, like Karate or Taekwondo, because they are very unrealistics, and don't work in a real fight.
  23. Really, if fighting with one person it's difficult, imagine with two... i'd try to avoid that situation, and go away from there.. but if i don't have escape, and i would go to attack to the weakest opponent from both, and then, try deal with the other one, maybe using some "dirty" techniques, like strike the groins or something like that, because, if i am in disadvantage, it's just that i can play a "dirty" game too
  24. i think anybody can't say "yes" or "no" to this question. it all depends about the situation, and many factors. We have to remember, that in a street fight anything goes, since strikes can go everywhere, to a person have a weapon (a gun, knife, etc) it also depends for example, if the street fighter has any knowledge about MA, or how good they are (the street fighter and the muay thai fighter). Supposing, the following scenario, both have the same conditions, no weapons, same weight, etc, and the street fighting doesn't know anything about MA, i'd incline to the Muay Thai. Muay Thai is a very effective style for street fighting, in fact, it's one of my favorites stand up styles.. it's very devastating, they show yo how to combine your hands, with elbows strikes, knees, etc, and this is very dangerous for the other person..
