  1. SandanPJ in https://www.bjj.oirg you have an analysis by Roy Harris describing what you're asking for
  2. That's a contradiction, like you say in real life there is no rules and "starts" and "stops" don't happen, well, if they there weren't "starts" and "stops", kimo had have a broken arm..
  3. I was wondering how people say that their style is prepared for "multiple attackers", when they can't deal either with one attacker. I think there isn't any style that can't garantee you that you'll be prepared for mulltiple attackers, that is * IMHO.
  4. You could get some instructionals and a partner that wants to roll and practice with you, you could learn something.. it's better than nothing. I also suggest you, if you can take some private lessons when your work let you, it would be good too.. Good luck
  5. Both are really good, try to practice both, so you know how to use your hands and a little of grappling
  6. BJJ has a huge advantage when it comes to groundfighting (IMHO), with a wrestler you'll be most likely to play from your back (using guard), since most probably they'll takedown (because that is what they are best), but once on the ground they don't know much about submissions, so you could start playing there (since that's what BJJ focuses more).. In how many time you could be good at it, it depends of many factors like how many times do you train, if you have a background in grappling (Wrestling, Judo, TJJ, etc) it will be more easily to you to be confortable on the ground, and your own learning capacity.
  7. I thought you were saying that a non-grappler had defeated a BJJ guy in the ground, that'w why i asked you the name of those persons. What you say is tru,e it has happened many times, althought takedowns aren't the most "strong" part of BJJ (its Wrestling), there are people who have done GnP to some BJJer and have defeated them, i'm clear with that and i accept it. But if you see the statics, and the average, it's favor to BJJers. you understand my point?
  8. Warp Spider sorry but i couldn't understand what you told about me (my english isn't excellent). Man i'm not saying that BJJ is infalible, and that nobody can defeat it, none art is, but what it's true, is that it is VERY VERY effective in real situations and have been proved along the time, with facts and not with theory like others MA. I was wondering about your comment, could you tell me who's the person (that didn't have any grappling experience) that defeated a grappler? (most specific a BJJer)
  9. In KaZaA you can download some WC vs Muay Thai combats, and there wc guys get defeated.. Search and watch them for yourself.
  10. It makes me laugh how many people says that their styles can deal with "mutiple attackers" and that BJJ doesn't, when in a ring they can't deal with neither one guy...
  11. Rickson by armbar 1:06 1R ... lol, talking seiously, i'd go with Bruce
  12. You can't compare BJJ ground game with TJJ, BJJ ground work is much extensive. I'm not saying that The Gracies invented ground work, so please stop puting words in my mouth. ok? If TJJ ground game is SO good like you say, why i haven't seen in a grappling tournament a winner that practice TJJ?. It is clear that your you TJJ is "the ultimate art" the most complete, then why you ask? I would love to see a TJJ vs a striker to Muay Thai to see how good "striking" is in TJJ, and in ground with a BJJ, and in takedowns with a wrestler... And for naswering your aquestion, who needs a good striker when TJJ is the best? Answer: A seriously fighter that want to learn the best from the most effective disciplines
  13. In TJJ you don't learn to strike as you do if you practice MT or Boxing, it's whole different, and also you don't learn as good ground skills as in BJJ.
  14. I think it's good for self defense, but you should practice some throws without the GI so you be more realistic,,, (at least you live in a cold place where people wear jackets most of the time)
  15. First, you would NEVER want to be in a mutople attackers situation, the best option is to leave there. What you say is tru,e in tht situation most probably you're not going yo look for a takedown so you be grappling on the ground because his buddies could kick you, etc, etc. BUT, most times you DON'T CHOOSE it, you go there, and there if you don't know how to be the safest possible, you will get hurt VERY bad.
  16. from top: mount and armbar from bottom: guard and triangle or armbar.
  17. Then, don't get into BJJ, it has no striking
  18. IMHO, it does NOT. You have to be crazy to begin throw kicks in the street, too dangerous... i'd only do it if i have a very but very very GOOD chance... However, Muay Thai low kicks are very good for the streets. (When i practiced TKD, my instructor said this to me).
