i don't understand, you wtf? ? so what? your focus is wrong, you can't say that you're going to compare BJJ and Karate in a Karate competition, a NHB is a different context, but in karate competitions grappling is not allowed, so what is supposed to do a Bjjer?, it's like i say you that you compare them in a BJJ competition, what is the karateka going to do if he can't strike? Now, if you say for example, Judo vs BJJ, it's another thing since they are similars, or Karate vs Boxing for example, or kickboxing... do you think you could fight you vs more opponnents with your wing chun? lol -

What you say is absurd. explain me how is a BJJer going to win in a karate competition if they don't allow grappling? it's absurd. NHB fights are different, karatekas can striles all they want, and you can grapple. And of course it is a fair judge to see what's more effective, you don't have almost rules, you can do almost everything, what better than this? -

thats because karate guys do not even train right or come from another form of karate like shotokan. that's because IT SUCKS, it loses time doing useless katas and stuff like that that is never going to be useful in a real situation. look at Gracie in action 1 for example, Gracies fight with brazilian's selection of karate and they beat them all, look at UFC where Royce takes Minoki Ichihara (a Japan champion of Karate), etc, etc.. Gracies has made much more in NHB world thatn any karate guy, so again, STFU -

For you can defeat multiples opponents, or they have to be very dumbass, kids, weak, etc aor you have to be very very strong and good... it makes me laugh how some people says they can handle a multipples attackers situation while they can't handle good a 1 on 1 person combat. -

really? what are their names? steven seagal? bruce lee? what's the movies name? were the attackers kids? -
It's sorry people think things that happens in a movie are what happens in a real fight..

If you want to train for multiples attackers buy a gun, or get into running, none MA is going to save your * in a multiple attackers situation. You can say whatever you want, and talk all the * you want, and that you could handle 4254 fighters with your kung fu, or taijutsu, or whatever you practice, that's B.S. have you ever been attacked for more than one person at the same time? You don't know nothing about BJJ. BJJ is not a combat MA, it was designed so people could defend theirselves in Brazil's street that are dangerous, i don't see that a "sport", is it for you?. And the last thing, i believe in what i can see and what have been proved, not what a people can say without facts. -

BJJ has best groundwork, so my first option would be this. of course there are other grappling arts, you have Judo for example, etc I agree with this statement you made, but there are many grappling arts that will work well in this situation. -

cross that's ok, i agree with you, first thing i want to do in a multiple attackers situation is run, or leave of that situation fastest possible. And if i have no chance, of course, i would try to keep on my feet, but many times those guys are going to grab you, and take you down, so if you know how to grapple, you can have a possibilitie of escape. -

Dude i see it, i haven't in any moment said that i don't, it's only that i laugh when other people say that with their styles they can handle multiple attackers, that's B.S -

i can see the scenario you say, and you're right, but think about this for a while, what if those two attackers hug you? or take you down? if you don't know how to "grapple" you couldn't leave very weel from that situation i think.. and another thing, you say that if you're a striker you can switch to one person to another and in the worse case, you can run, that's right, but that if i'm a grappler while i'm "grappling" i could not do that? Well, it depends on your definition of grappling. grappling isn not only ground work, you can do throws from stand up and it's still grappling. Judo is grappling, and Judo doesn't focuses in ground work. do you get my point? -
I read your whole post, only that i tool the parts that i thought were a little relevant (it was a hard work). And yes, you're right, i don't agree with what you said. say that it's the same thing that no one punched or kicked before martial art exist is a different stuff, those are things by natural, when you see someone who doesn't have any knowledge of any MA fighting, he throws punches and kicks right? but how many of them do you see using spider guard for example? anyway, that's not the point, the point is, from where then, althrough you came spider guard if not from the Gracies?

I list them because i practiced them when i was younger, before i knew that bjj existed. and you can strike two or more persons at the same time? do you think you can handle multiples attackers situation? BJJ was created to self-defense, so people could defend them-selves in Brazil's streets, which are very dangerous and street fights were very common, so it's absurd to say that bjj is too focuses on the ring -

Dude, I don't care what you think about me, i don't have much experience in real fighting, but have some, but you are an ignorant when you said that if someone attacked you with a knife you could handle it. In none moment i said i was as good as a Gracie, i wish someday i be as good as they are, but now i am a beginner, but i know what my capabilities are, and i know i could handle promedium people who doesn't know anything about ground fighting (like you) on the ground. I base my opinions in what i've seen, in combats in NHB fights that i've seen (and not in UFC exactly). You don't know anything about BJJ, you demostrate it when you say BJJ is only 1 on 1 wrestling and you don't know how it's structurated. So, keep going on the topic of the thread. -

lol, i can't believe you think that * of budo-taijutsu really works. I'm not saying that you need to be strong to do TJJ, so don't put words on my mouth. I'm not a BJJ washed, i only see what is useful, and all your kung fu * doesn't work. Of course that i know what i am talking about, i see that the Gracie does works, and it has been proved against many styles including your "deadly, and excellent system to beat 4564 opponents". I laught when i see those "self-defense" against swords, and that *, nowdays who the * is going to attack you with those things? For you, your art is very effective, i would love to fight with you to see. Instead, you say disarm an opponent, fight with somebody against a knife, would you really do this? fight with somebody with a weapon? -

LMAO!!! You know * about BJJ, go and read before talking stupid things. Didn't the Gracies learn from Maeda? don't? then from who? you? LOL They understanded the techniques, only that some techniques needed a big strong guy to excecute them, and since Helio is a weak man, he adapted them. What you say is absurd, why? because if they didn't tkae the techniques from TJJ either didn't understand or couldn't make work like you say, then from where did Gracies learn? TJJ still train with swords, and all those weapons that used in Japan's war, it's OBSOLETE, acept it. it makes me LAUGH OUT LOUD, that you say that BJJ is only 1 on 1 wrestling, for your information BJJ is divided in 3 parts: 1.- Sport Jiu-Jitsu 2.- Vale tudo 3.- Self-defense You can go to Gracies web site and then see what programs they have for self-defense, RAPE-defense, they train US Marines, so don't be a moron, and STFU and learn before talking things that you don't know nothing about it. -
I'm not 100% sure, but i have a great confidency on myself i could do it.

Yes Seven Star is right. You can be well rounded but you always will have a prefference, to strike or to grapple.. for example look at Vanderlei Silva, he recently got his BJJ black belt, althought many of us haven't seen him on working on the ground since las Pride GP, but he prefers to strike, he fells more confortable there...
