  1. 3000?! Woman, do you have a life outside the internet? @Patrick - did you get my answers yet?
  2. Sorry about that KSN Doug. I just don't know what I have done to garner such animosity from JerryLove. If I have offended in some way please let me know (JerryLove). I was merely venting my own personal frustration in my posts. It was not aimed at you specifically. If it was, it would have had your name on it.
  3. That's all I did in the early 90's. Every weekend.
  4. First off, I just find it silly to open new threads to rehash old conversations. Second, I'll post on any thread I choose regardless of not wanting to rehash something. I get kinda tired of people from street oriented fighting styles saying others techniques are ineffective and shouldn't be practiced at all. Head kicks have their merit for certain situations. Especially as finishing techniques. High kicks are what make TKD, TKD! (as he launches one final head kick at this dead horse.) Now, I will say no more, because my temper is starting to get the best of me, and I wouldn't want to say anything unkind.
  5. Haven't we had this conversation like a million times before on other threads? Some people like them, some don't. End of story. We who use & practice them, see the benefits. Hopefully we see the downfalls as well. Agree to disagree and quit beating a dead horse people!
  6. I just found out more about my school last night. Seems we do MooDukKwan style. Yippee!! Yippee?! I can't believe I just said that. Anyway, I am still learning a traditional Korean self defense style of TKD! I am so pleased. It just goes to show how much people change the styles on their own. We do things differently at my new dojang over my old dojang but they are both MDK TKD. Also, my old instructor used his "Master" title freely. My instructors now have the "Master" title, but do not use it because they don't want people getting the wrong idea. Mrs. Booth just received her 6th dan this weekend. Way to go! Now she and her husband are equal rank. It's nice to see high level people that actually teach their students themselves. Pilsung!
  7. How about posting "nudity links" or porno pictures. I think that gets the quickest, possibly meanest, response from our community. Other than that, stating a style is totally ineffective works for me.
  8. WOW! Can you say run on sentence? daryldolittle, could you please use some punctuation in your posts? It might get your questions answered more quickly, if we don't have to sift throught the gobbledegook first. Depending on your art form, it will vary. In TKD the legs should be in alignment, with the upper part of the body in alignment with them. The hip should be slightly rolled over to generate power. You should not lean back in the kick. Try to keep your torso upright as much as you can. Leaning back will rob your kick of power. Considering your other post in this forum, I would have your lumps in your hips checked out. If that is okay, stretching can help, and lots of practice. Talk to your instructors about your technique. They are the ones you are paying to teach you. They should want you to do it right.
  9. My school is: White Yellow Yellow(black tip) Orange Green High Green Blue High Blue Brown (3 levels) High Brown (3 levels) Temp Black (6 months) Black (1st Dan)
  10. OKAY! Now they're talking about WOOD? You can't keep doing this to me!!!! The temptation i getting to be too much. Ash is a good hard wood.
  11. Great work Seoul Survivors! And boy am I glad for immunities! Love the smiley KC. Where do you get all of those?
  12. Okay, I finally found out who our school is associated with. It is ITF, through the late Grandmaster Choi. Grandmaster Jung, Woo Jin is the instructor of my instructors. He does however have his own branch of the ITF called the ABA, American Blackbelt Association. He has been for the last decade or more been trying to unite the factions of TKD into one body again. You can research his story at the following link: http://www.jungstkd.com/story.htm I hope everyone finds this interesting.
  13. Checked out the site on your post Big Game. You must haveta be one bad dude to wear a whit belt when you're a 10th dan. Isn't that an oxymoron?
  14. I DO! THANK YOU VERY LITTLE!
  15. You must have used that glass properly if your still breathing.
  16. Punch your hand into a bucket of play sand to help calluses form on your knuckles. That should be enough padding to help with breaking. Use corn huskers lotion as well.
  17. Usually a striped belt is the higher rank.
  18. Let's keep the tone light people, or Patrick or one of the other moderators may pull the plug. I would say it comes down to personal training and commitment. TKD has some obvious shortcomings, BUT(and there is always a but), so does any other art, if the practitioners are truthful about it.
  19. My leg is chambered towards the target. I try to imitate Bill Wallace as much as I can, with limited flexibilty of course. He has one of the best side kicks ever.
  20. Dude, you stumped my brain. I only knew 2 or 3 for sure. The rest were guesses.
  21. Lawrence, KS, half an hour from Kansas City.
  22. A zero for ZeRo. Man that would be harsh!
  23. That is how I learned to do all my basic kicks in MDK TKD when I first started. I think it is the best way to ingrain the technique in your brain. It is very tiring as well. You can tell, somewhat, from the snap of your pantleg what kind of power you are getting as well. Just don't hyperextned you knee. Ouch! Pilsung!
  24. Congrats! Keep your eye on your goal and you will achieve.
