I think effectiveness in any art reallies solely on the individual and the trainers. Without either one willing to have improvement then none of the styles would be effective. "There is always someone worse but remember there is also always somebody better. Always keep yourself striving for the best" That is a quote by me. I used it once and now it is popular in the dojo I attend.....or at least it was at one point.

Depends on who is in control if it suffers the same fate. I think it is a good idea to put it in the olympics. At least one year. OF course that means they will have to take out others because the commission wants to keep the number of events down. At least that is what I read the other day.

welcome

Yep the more you install the slower it will get. Unless you know how to disable things on startup ect. Their are ways to make things only run when you ask them. That is something I'm still learning.

No problem. I like helping. Sorry I couldn't get it fixed. That is the problem sometimes with not seeing it. Thats why techs get payed so much to come to the house and fix things.

I'm not saying that contracts are the devil. I just say go for ones with many different levels and also to be sure you want to make the committment.

Students' lives
BlueDragon1981 replied to three60roundhouse's topic in Instructors and School Owners
That is cool kickchick. I not only teach my students martial arts. I tell them they can ask me anything. Being a person who always looks into new things and learns new things on my own. (i research items just for the heck of it.) If I don't know the answer I will find it for them. Not only going beyond the martial arts school but making someone elses knowledge increase. I believe a true master is someone who goes beyond what is required and has a quest for knowledge. I don't care if I ever become a master because the fun is in the journey to get that status. A master is a teacher, leader, and scholar all roled into one. -
So what is everyone asking for for xmas/hanukah/kwanzaa
BlueDragon1981 replied to Phantasmatic's topic in General Chat
That is a good unique idea Kickchick. I would like the band of brothers dvd set too. Not something I need though so I dont care all to much. I also have a list of books and dvds I would like. I'm usually more concerned about what I get people. Not what I get. (something I learned from being a martial artist i guess) -
Contracts can keep people coming to a class. However if you are not sure you are going to like the class don't sign a contract. If the school has a single class rate then pay that until you are sure you want to sign. I can see both sides of the contract issue. If the school offers different types of contracts that is good. I know in my dojo we have a single class rate and monthly rates. The monthly rate depends on how many classes you attend that month. You pay more for the single class but you don't lose your money if you dont come to class on your determined day (or days). Yearly contracts I don't like unless you plan to stay there the whole year. Of course this type of contract can make it assure that the instructor gets paid and keep the person coming to class. If your not into it never sign a contract.

why dont martial artists like to lift weights?
BlueDragon1981 replied to Sid Vicious's topic in Health and Fitness
Sometimes lifting can injure your ligaments and other parts of your body if not done correctly. I believe some martial artist dont see the need because they get strength by the other exercise such as push ups. I myself do lift. So I get both types of exercise. -
Yep Kempo has a lot of stregths. Incorporated with a ground art you will be very well rounded. Cross Training has many benefits I think. Learn all you can from one style first however. That way it is easier to apply when you learn another.

BlueDragon1981 replied to Phantasmatic's topic in General Chat
Nothing really, just a nice safe holiday season with my family and friends. I could use money to pay off some of the bills that are piling up though. -
Belts are just a scam !!!!!
BlueDragon1981 replied to Mo_Tseu's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I believe in some ways they are and is some other ways they are not. It gives some people something to work and strive for. Some people do need that goal to try to achieve. For those who do not care about the belt and just want to learn it can be. In some Japanese style they only have two belts. (at least in the old times they did) White and Black. White was the student. Black ment you mastered the system or could become an instructor. So I can see this argument both ways. -
I saw "Pain is nothing but weakness leaving the body" on this thread. That is actually originally a quote from Vince Lombardi too.

Defrag probably won't delete anything. Just orders data on your hard drive better. May realize that you have removed that program so it won't come up anymore. Probably won't work though. The file really can only be deleted by finding it.

What has martial arts taught you????
BlueDragon1981 replied to karatekid1975's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion

Defragmenting puts bits of datat back in the correct place. That is the easies way to expain it. You should do this after installing or removing programs. (not every one but maybe after 3 or 4 installs or removals)

Makes you think about the grander sceme of things. This stuff gets me thinking to much.......

Leaf, I dont know of any way for it to automadically load to Dos. If you hit F8 at the splash screen. (windows load up screen) you get some options. Choose Command Prompt or MS -DOS. THat is the only way I can think of now. I will look it up. What OS do you have? That helps since they are all different.

A thourough scan disk may help with corruption. Along with defragmenting. Of course this will probably take all day to do. A thourough scan disk takes 7 hours on my computer and defrag takes 3. (This depends on your hard drive size and your processor speed, and RAM)
