  1. The dojo bunny in my school just got promoted again. Meanwhile the popularity of the dojo is going to suffer because she should not be where she is. Oh well not my business. Im going to get my black belt then move on to another style or another teacher.
  2. Welcome and hope you stay.
  3. Welcome to Karateforums
  4. Thanks everyone. I think im going out this weekend to celebrate my birthday. Might want to stock up on the asprin... Send me your websites kickchick so I can put them on my page. That is if you want them on there. Dont know if you have been to it lately. Have changed and added some things to it.
  5. Ya once hitting the heavy bag I found out the purpose of bag gloves and wrist wraps. Also starting punching without hyper extending my elbow. The heavy bag made me a much better puncher. Still have trouble with speed bag. I stretch and make sure im warmed up before class. Even when we do calastenics there. (although now I go to the side and do my own, one brown belt privelage if given permission) I have lingering injuries in my shoulder and knee. Ever since i dislocated my shoulder it has not been correct. It was exrayed and nothing was found. So is there anything I can do to strengthen my shoulder without injuring it? Not very knowlegable on the shoulder and shoulder injuries.
  6. Drinking a small amount of water and eatings something small can help you sleep. If you eat and drink about 4 oz to 6 oz of water you may sleep better. Also if you breathe through your nose you have a better chance of not waking up because of a dry mouth. (of course you might snore) Keeping a glass of water close to your bed may help. If you have a cold keep medicine and water by your bedside. Most colds and flus will have you feeling the worst when you first wake up. Having fluids and keeping your mouth wet can minimize the effects in the morning of the cold. Dont drink to much water though because then you will have to get up to go to the bathroom.
  7. Yep today was labor day. It was also my 21st birthday and my grandparents anniversary. Im 21 today. Didnt get to do anything. Maybe next weekend. Just didnt have any money and had other things to do. (two papers due on thursday for college) Well happy birthday to me.
  8. For those interested Unix and Linux are working on new OS that they hope will compete with Windows. User friendly in other words. Mac has come out with another OS 10.2. It is nicknamed Jaguar. It is the fastes selling OS for Mac. It hasnt been out all that long.
  9. I know what you mean. The same thing is happening to the art I study. His main base is E-budo. No matter what proof you give it gets turned around and falsified. Oh well. I know what is right. People offen will discredit things. I dont discredit any art. Many of the old masters have any proof they are masters but I believe they are because of their art and what they could do. Just ignore people like that he go with what you know and have researched.
  10. Caffine can make a head ache better and it can also cause a headache. I will explain if you want just reply.
  11. Nothing now but someday i will get back to my regiment.
  12. Gracies are getting to much into there no loss thing. Rickson I think is the only one who truly won all his fights. Royce was good but its possible for him to lose.
  13. The good thing about my art is that we allow more contact as you progress in rank. Of course this would not go at most tournaments. We also every once in awhile will have a full contact sparring session. The lower ranks of course where lots of pads but the higher ranks choose if they want to where them. One thing with my school is that we use ki. Higher ranks are suppose to know how to recieve a strike better than the lower ranks and in our school if the instructor doesnt think you can take a hit you are likely not to get to the brown belt rank until you can. I think that every style should have full contact classes. It is more life like. Not the exact thing but it is definatly preparing you more than point fighting. Of course the choice to participate would be up to the student.
  14. If you have dialup and your computer is taking forever to log on then go and uncheck the log on to network in the dialer. 1. Click on My computer 2. Click on Dial Up Networking 3. Click on the name of your dialer once and then right click. 4. Go down to properties and click on it 5. Click on the tab at the top that says Server Types. 6. Uncheck Log on to network. NetBEUI and IPX/SPX (should only have TCP/IP and Enable software compression checked) 7. Turn Computer off and turn back On. There you go it should log in quicker. (not for faster connection, I mean if it seems like it takes forever to verify username and password and log on to network.)
  15. This is just something I thought some of you would like to read. It comes off of http://www.gracieacademy.com/index.shtml Helios fight Vs. Masahiko Kimura on October 23, 1951 It was October 23, 1951. The fight day between Helio Gracie and Masahiko Kimura had finally arrived and the sold out crowd at Maracana Stadium was thundering. The fight began and the two men immediately went to a clinch. Helio felt Kimura begin to launch his patented shoulder throw, and Helio went limp, relaxing his body completely. He knew he would never be able to resist the throw. Kimura had perfected the move by wrapping his belt around a tree and trying to throw it, slammimg his hips and back against the tree until they were raw from the countless repetitions. Helio knew that he would be a lot easier to throw than that tree had been, especially since he weighed only 140 pounds. Helio hoped that as Kimura put everything he had into the throw, he would be knocked off balance when Helio offered no resistance. His strategy worked. As Kimura threw Helio to the ground, he stumbled and fell to the mat from the force of his own throw. He landed on top of Helio and the fight was on. At one point, Kimura clamped Helio into a dojime (waist vice), scissoring Helio's chest with his legs and pinning one of Helio's arms to his side as he pulled hard on Helio's collar. The move was effective. As Helio worked to escape, he passed out from the pressure on his chest. He woke up seconds later to find Kimura sitting on his chest, wiping the sweat off his forehead and complimenting Helio for being able to resist the move -- Helio had passed out with his eyes open, and Kimura had not realized he had rendered Helio unconscious! As the fight passed the three minute mark, the spectators began to chant "It's over, it's over.." in response to Kimura's statement that Helio should consider himself the winner if the fight lasted longer than three minutes, since no one outside of Japan ever lasted that long. Late in the first round, Kimura clamped a crunching headlock on Helio so hard that a blood vessel in Helio's ear burst and blood ran out onto Kimura's sleeve. Kimura released the hold a little to see if Helio was all right. Helio signaled that he was, and Kimura clamped the hold back on and the fight continued. The first round ended and, after a short rest, both men went at it again. Three minutes into the second round, Kimura caught Helio in an arm lock. Helio was struggling to get free when his brother and cornerman, Carlos, threw in the towel. Carlos said he was concerned that Helio may not tap, and wanted to save his arm. Helio Gracie's fight with Kimura was a testament to the effectiveness of the techniques he had improvised and developed since the Gracie family learned Jiu-Jitsi from Esai Maeda. Kimura was so impressed with Helio's fighting technique that he invited him to teach at the Imperial Academy of Japan. Helio declined this invitation, but was honored by the gesture. Helio Gracie, a living example of the benefits of an active and healthy lifestyle, celebrated his 89th birthday on October 1, 2001. He continues to travel frequently to the Gracie Academy in Torrance, California where he loves to spend his time teaching and training his students here.
  16. The FBI field usually likes you to have a BA degree in Law or Criminal Justice. It can be any four year degree however. Like if it was computer science and you decided you wanted to be a cop then you would take your civil service test. Hope you score high. They take people who score high. Also they like their agents to either have been in the Police force or the Military for at least a small amout of time. So the route you take is up to you. But know that it is going to be a lot of work.
  17. Kickers advice is nice to know. It wont work though if you deleted your temp files and cookies before you remembered to look... . I have done that before. Since I delete them frequently.
  18. Microsoft is easy to use....dont hate the company because Gates used the right time to market his stuff. I like some Microsoft product and dont like others. Linux is suppose to be coming out with a windows type OS and Unix is also releasing new things. I would like to get into those. AOL is the biggest rippoff in my mind. Netscape is getting worse with its browser. It graphics are cool but 6.0 netscape has screwed up some systems. I dont really like Microsoft but it is the easiest to use. I have to explain to people now how to use things with Microsoft. Just imagine explaining Linux.....ohh that would be a treat. Specially if they had and old OS of linux. Windows XP is not a good upgrade for microsoft in my opinion. Specially since you have to register. If you have to reformat then you have to call them and get your key unlocked. You have to register also or it will not work correctly. MSN also isnt very good in my opinion. Remember these are my opinions. Here are some help sites: http://www.supportmechanic.com http://www.iinet.net.au/support/index.html I have more if you want them. These deal with both Mac and Windows. I dont have a great one for Linux and Unix yet. Linux and Unix by the way for you people who dont know offer more security levels but they dont have a really good Operating system yet (OS). Also your internet servers probably use Linux or Unix because of the securtiy. Unix still has a lot of coding like DOS. Linux is trying to make a good OS. Red Hat is suppose to be a good upgrade from there others. Linux and Unix also tend to cost a lot less or may even be free. The Mac OS 10.2 Jaguar is selling pretty fast with Mac users but I have never seen it. Things too look for when purchacing a computer: Do not buy anything that is intergrated if you plan on upgrades in the future (HP and Compaq and Gateway are bad for intergrating items. Dell only intergrates lower end pcs.) Get lowest proccessor speed you can if customizing (with dell its 1.6 ghz) Get higher RAM. 256 or 512. 128 at the lowest. Dont get any software you dont think you will use. It comes preloaded and will bog down your system. (if you dont use office dont get it.) Recommended things are either a cd burner or a zip drive. (Zip drives really arent to popular with home pc users but are nice. They have 100 mg storage and 250 mg., Much better than 1.44 mg) Get at least 32 mg video Ram. Recommend 64 mg Here is the order I recommend for brands: Dell, HP, Compaq, Gateway. (if you know how build your own.)
  19. I think I like the college level better although more challenging. I didn't like the high school level as much but I have always enjoyed learning things. I learned more on my own out of school (during high school) than I did in school. I dont know much about aerospace engineering. One thing I do know about the engineering field in General is that you need a lot of math. You need all of it Calculas, Trig, Algebra, Geometry. So make sure you take as much of the advanced math you can in high school if you want to go into eningeering.
