Of course but do you do that in everyday life. Does your Sensei dictrate to you what you will give in your life ie: family and friends or work for him? -
Kyokushin belt testing

Congrats on your promotion. -
Only way I would award my belt to someone is comemorate 25 years with me.
-
Let me know if I can help you.
-
I agree totally with Sohan. However if need be Karate can be very effective given the way it is applied and how it has been taught to you. Breaking is useful in building focus of technique don't under estimate its usefulness.
-
Yes washing the belts will make them fade quicker.

If You Created Your Own Martial Art Style....

The mistranslations are why I have taken such great care in making sure I got them professionally done and double and triple checked. -
I will see if I can shoot a video of it on Tuesday.
-
No worries it happens to the best of us. I should have blown up the picture more.
-
Ok I blew up one of the pictures I got it now. Its a hook kick or whats also known as kake geri. Thats why I didn't relate to it was because of the term used. Now I feel stupid.
-
Ok so not using the front leg in your kamae but your rear leg to attack with?
-
So I am correct in the throwing it like a outside cresent kick?
-
It depends on the way you apply the karate style strike. You can still use your hip without chambering the strike.
-
I think I know what you are talking about now. Like a outside crescent kick but much closer to the target and still using the bridge of your foot instead of the edge like the outside cresent kick. Sorry the pictures didn't help much. Or are you striking with your knee? If its with your knee its what I always knew as a Mawashi Hiza Geri.
-
I have never heard of a Ura Mawashi Geri what exactly is it?

a question for all

Thank you all. I have been away from my instructor since February and we are a month away from opening my first store front dojo. I knew what was right but given the situation it was really ripping on me because these people have now ganged up on me to try to trash my name. Well I guess thats their choice but they said they would not attend a tournament hosted by a mutual friend in Pittsburgh if I was there. The directors of the tournament decided they would still invite both of us and it was up to them if they chose not to come. They felt it was their loss. Besides that one top ranking of the 3 directors who is the mutual friend slept on his couch last night because his wife said he shouldn't have even had to think about it. I appreciate the compliments and hope one day I can meet some of you. I throughly enjoy this forum among a couple others and wish I had found them sooner. -
I have a question for everyone. If you have an instructor whether they are asian or not and no matter how loyal or how long you have been with them. Do you do whatever and I mean whatever they say without question? Do you allow them to beat you to the point your body is black from the severe buising and then get up in the morning and thank them for it? If you have an instructor who is not sensitive to a health problem even if it was something you have had since birth and they tell you to do something but you physically can’t do you ask them for help? Things have happened in the past 24 hours that made me think about this and wonder what others thought.

Kyokushin belt testing

Best of luck!! -
Hangetsu is the vesion I learned however I would love to compare it to Seasan has P.A.L. mentioned. I am taking my kata back to its roots since I was taught the Pinan and Naihanchi Kata I have started practicing those and Passai and Kusanku versions of the katas. Hangetsu is a great kata and I view it as a true study there is some good bunkai but it takes a study of the kata to realize it. Keep up the good work on it.

I look at the student and don't generalize it. Some 9 year olds can simply out perform some 15 year olds but not not all the time.
-
Are you sure he understands how to perform the stances?
-
Meditation works well for me.

When I was training in Shorinkan the Shodan test fee with Kyoshi Bethea was $300 but that included certification from Okinawa direct from Nakazato Sensei.

Very well said. I love teaching kids but pushing the stances and all to the point where its not fun for them will not keep them involved. My stances and technique came together when I was about 15 or 16 and I had a great role model I was training under. He didn't drill us he just sit the example. All the drills and kata practice he did with us.
