  1. There are already hundreds of good videos on the market. Check https://www.yamazatovideos.com
  2. I had a chance to meet Mr. Speakman one time and he seemed to be a nice guy. Not one I would want to cross and one that seemed to know his stuff. He was first a student of Lou Angel and Hanshi Angel then referred Mr. Speakman to Ed Parker.
  3. I have 21in reach and I am 5'7 I always thought I was 5'8 man I knew I was short but I didn't need proof. hehehehe
  4. It is distraction from poor technique sometimes. But to me its just pointless.
  5. Takes a long time and the pain can be unreal I have been there but didn't crack or break mine just very close.
  6. I love fighting taller people with longer reach. I am not tall either 5'8 and don't have a long reach so I use tai sabaki and counter quickly or just be the more agressive fighter.
  7. Good one.
  8. Shotokan was not really a style when it came from Okinawa. I believe Funakoshi Sensei was teaching Shorin Ryu or Shuri Te at the time. I just goggled the Dai Nippon Butokai and found their website but didn't see anything listed on official systems of karate-do.
  9. Sorry I have only heard the name in passing. Don't know anything about him or where to find him.
  10. It depends on how much respect you want to show the person.
  11. Yeah that piece of cloth is cheap its the work thats expensive adn hard.
  12. Temporary lapse of thinking I guess.
  13. I knew there were more "S" systems I was forgetting. Sorry about that.
  14. Yes it does in the Nidan and up ranks mainly. We do some work with grappling for the kyu ranks just on basic movement and defense. The system actually incorporates Trad. Karate, Trad. & Modern Ju Jitsu (more modern), and kobudo kata and training drills mainly unique to us.
  15. True the Ryu is nothing more then the school it is taught in. Yeah there are a lot of spinoffs.
  16. I do that in conversation with Korean or Chinese stylists also.
  17. Let me give you a start Japanese / Okinawan Karate-Do Shuri Ryu Shorei Ryu Shorin Ryu (Kobayashi, Matsubayashi and Shobayashi Ryu, Matsumura Seito) Goju Ryu Goju Kai Shotokan Shotokai Shito Ryu Chito Ryu Wado Ryu Wado Kai Okinawa Te (some still practice it) Kajukenpo or Kajukenbo Ryukyu Kempo Matsumura Kempo Uechi Ryu Seibukan Kyokushinkai Pangai Noon Isshin Ryu Shudokan Gosoku Ryu Plus many more. I didn't list mine but it is under my name.
  18. He may not since he is a korean style practioner.
  19. I like the one with the fart. I have done that actually.
  20. Thanks guys you reminded me of when I used to stand in kiba-dachi and watch tv. I had forgotten about that. Thanks for the nice words about my advice also.
  21. Ok you being a beginner your legs haven't built the strength yet just from regular training. Don't worry about it they will. Squats work well and so do other drills such has carrying someone on your back while do the stances. I don't recomend doing squats with weights but wiht a person on your back seems to work very well. Also look at bushipower.com on the weight training system that has been modernized from the old Okinawan methods. You can do strength training on your arms and legs with that. Also just stand in that position for a long time that will strengthen the legs. Flexibility is important also to keep the muscles in the legs from stiffing and causing a muscle spasam. Hope that helps.
  22. also do hojo undo excercises such on teh nigiri game and Chishi. You can get a modern version of this at https://www.bushipower.com. Works very well.
  23. Do leg strengthening excercises. Force yourself to hold it longer. 2 minutes isn't long enough. How long have you been training? How long have you been working on kiba dachi? This should help me understand the difficulty you are having.
  24. You are a shodan that understands. Keep it up.
