  1. yeah sounds interesting...To bad there are no books on Kuntao. Fallen milkman do you use low stances like hung gar or high stance like Wing Chun? Does Kuntao use the same thories as wing chun? what are the names of the forms in your system?and how many are there?
  2. Can you tell me about the Mongolian wrestling in your style. What does it looklike? is it fighting on the ground or standup?
  3. your right the feet and hands must work together..
  4. Fallem_milkman can you tell me a little about your style Kuntao..I hear it is a chinese MA that went to the Indonesia and mix with those art?I also heard its comes from the Philippines to? what do you know about it??
  5. what style of shaolin did you study? was it buk sui lum?
  6. Sifu Gary Lam looks like a real touch fighter!!!
  7. deippedappe...What do you base it on that WC was not used or created for the purpose to defeat other Shaolin styles?I'mnot saying it's true, but since WCK is not a very old style,it makes sense if you wanted to create somthing new you have to somehow find a better way to out do what's being used at that time. It's just the evolution of MA.
  8. jedimic yes i heard wing chun was created to defeat the shoalin system but who knows.
  9. I just wanted to mention Wing Chun is a Shoalin Art.Its roots go back to Shoalin.
  10. Ovine King...sounds interesting the story of your family. My family is not as colorful as yours.there no MA in my family.I want to pass my wingChun onto my daughter but she is not interested.I'm hoping she will change her mind.
  11. of course if you have use control when your fighting.Or use some sort of protection, but i perferr notto use any protection that way its more realistic.
  12. hey what styles of MA is in your family? are you continuing the tradition?
  13. Why don't you ask what are the names of the forms. You can find out what style it is my what forms they teach.
  14. Ovine King..sorry,I misunderstood you...that's great you have family members who are into MA.
  15. Ovine King I'm suprised you do so little Chi Sao. Once a week is not enough. How can you improve with so little practice? I'm sure you train very hard in other aspects but you should beef up your chi sao practice.
  16. thanks for the invitation...Yes I like to check out your school some time.I'll call ahead when I do.I hope I could spend a few days there.Rochester NY is very far from me.I hear your lineage is soft compared to other YiP man students. Is that true?I keep hearing different stories. Some say yes some say no.Any way nice meeting you....
  17. I have heard aot of good things about sifu ken Chung.I always wanted to meet him or any of his students.Does he ever come out to new Jersey to do any seminars or NYC?
  18. I guess I'm first. My style is Fut Sao Wing Chun Kuen.Wing Chun is a southern Chinese M.A. It is a close range system using mostly the hand techniqes, although there are many kicks in the system. The hands and feet defend and attack together as a unit. The kicks are mostly low to the waist and below. In Wing Chun we punch high and kick low.We kick low to maintain balance and to pin/jam/uproot the other guy with our legs.We don't use brute force we rely on proper structure to obsorb our opponents energy, and to use his own power agaist him. What attracted me to this style was its simple moves (not flashing)and practical M.A.
  19. I have a lot of respect for tai chi.It was a great art,but it's a lost art or almost lost now.I never met anyone who could really fight with it,and I've try to find some.I gone to many school but I was always disapointed. Some of them can do push hands very well but that 's not fighting. Some realize their tai chi is usless and try to incorpate things like western boxing to cover-up there poor tai chi.
  20. sorry I replied to your post, and my accident I posted it as a new post (circular block)
  21. no that circular blocking was not made up.many styles use it like Hung gar and choy Lee Fut and others.
  22. traditional Fist....oh yeah I agree blind folded Chi Sao should not replace regular Chi Sao practice. How much time to to spend on blind folded Chi sao?
  23. First thing you should do is go to a book store and check out these two styles.Read and find out as much as you can.Maybe after you do some research you'll have your answer. Both styles are good, but very different.I'm not going to tell you what to study thats up to you to decided.Once you know what you want to study then its important to find a good teacher.Ask questions and talk to a few students if you can.If you like both styles then try both for awahile and see which one you like. Good luck!!
