Hi welcome to the forums Why does everyone want to do shotokan?

Thanks. Now that I hook it with my shins that sting has gone. Funny how your body tells you how to perfect a technique through pain. Everythin else is fine. I of course use hand wraps as without them I would brake or at least damege my wrists. But apart from that thats it. I also hit train hardcore, become hardcore. I also hit my dads palm tree that doesn't break, I got that from the fil Kick Boxer when Jean Claude Van Damme hits the palm tree till it breaks when he trtains in Muay Thai. Train Hardcore, become hardcore. Pads and mittens are for the softees.

I have to use gloves for now as I have so many scabs on my fists from continually bashing the bag I don't let it heal. When I perform a round house kick I make contact with my foot so the knukle bit of the toes and the rest of the foot smack into it witch hurts like hell ,especially in the cold. Should you make contact with the bottom of your shin and the start of your foot so it is like a hook? Thanks for your replys

Does anyone hear punch tough material punch bags (leather) with bare fists and feet. I have been doing this for about 2 weeks since I bought mine and although I am one to take pain I can't stand the stinging sensation when I wack the tough leather with a round house kick. My skin on the edge of my fingers and a few of my toes were bleeding I just carried on hitting with all my power. Should I start using pads or should I just take that awful sting. I wouldn't mind if I kept on braking something but I really find it hard to take tiny little sharp sting. THX for your replys

Don't you have any restrictions.Your classes must look pretty scruffy with karatekas alll wearing what ever colour they want. We have to wear white gis which are handed out to us. You cant use any of your own equipment, not even pads.

Also one of the reasons why I decided to stop doing heavy weights was that as my bones and muscles are still growing puting heavy weights on them is not good for my growth development. Do you think its okay to do heavy weights. 15 kg dumbells?

There seems to be two ways to train for muscular endurance. Slow movements with a lot of stress on them like lying on your back and holding your feet 6 inches of the groung for a minute, these exercises are generally Pilates method. Others is quicker movements such as using light weights with large number of reps and swinging your arms and legs for a long period. What do you get out of these 2 different methods of training. Slow movements and using light weights normally with loads of reps. Wich one is more effective if there is one. THX in return

BULKING IS KRAP!!!!!!
-
This does seem to be the case with strengh. I do plyometrics now and they are exercise that last a maximum of 6 seconds and give me a huge amount of strengh. Endurance gives me a huge amount of strengh as well and makes my balance a lot better especially good endurance for martial arts is where I strap on some wrist and ankle weights and perform strikes and kicks very slowly, this kills but makes me incredibly strong. P.S. Bulking up sucks, I've been doing that for a year and the only real results in that is that my muscles get larger, not really stronger. I am a lot stronger than a lot of people that have big muscle mass.

Luck is something that you definately shouldn't reliy on. Hard work, training and the determination to kick his ass is what makes a good fighter. If your looking for an effective martial art you have to be a bit more precise like for example do you want to learn a really effective grappling art, but theb again all martial arts are good in their own way. Oh welcome to the forums!

My style uses a lot of grappling as it has a lot of jututsu in it so I would probobly use strikes a few kicks and get them in a hold and then ask them if they would want to run away or get their legs broken.
