No I mean are you allowed to take them out on the street.
-
In shotokan karate are you allowed to use weapons outside of karate such as numsticks or something like that?
-
look on a seach engine like yahoo.com
-
I agree. Its not the martial art thats important its the person but the persone who does it. I was being a bit ignorant there. I prefere the Japanese style of karate as it is a more stable karate than the English style one.
-
ok I see what you mean. All I wanted to know what do you think is the most effective martial art in a street fight. If not out of them selves.

when your threatend your body produces adrenaline to either help you fight like hell or run. Inj this case you fight and adrenaline pumps all the blood to your arms and legs that help you fight and no blood goes to your skin or stomach, or something like that. Or it could be fear. Hope it helps

kickboxing definately toughens but the self defence is quite practical seen as you only ever hit the oppenant with your fist or foot. I have just incooperated Karate with my kickboxing. Karate helps me with my self defence and then kickboxing toughens me up and improves areas that karate could not do as well, such as power and strengh. if your just interested in toughening yourself and lokking for a simple way to defend your self e.g. a day to day confrontation. But if you also want to learn how to defend your self thurther I would recommend the older styles of East Asia such as Karate, e.g. knife attack, or a number of people at once. hope this helps

I think doing Shotokan karate and Kickboxing is an excellent combination. You learn how to defend your self in karate from vertially any attack and then you can use kicboxing to increase the power of your punches and kicks and also have a really good sport. I don't think someone should do 2 Martial arts if they are struggling with one. I have already started karate coz I love fighting and its the only sport that I actually like and I am brilliant at. Some people are multi talented and are good at lots of things. I am just interested in fifgting, I am not very multi talented so thats why I love martial arts so much.

ECKA=English Contact Karte Association is a Karate style that I guess was made in England. It has a kicboxing stance with your feet and fists close together. Whereas shotokan karate has its feet wide apart. I was always told that you could always sweep a shotokan feet. and because their feet were so far apart they would fall over. Who do you think could win. The new style of karate or shotokan Karate. Also take in mind ECKA is a practical full contact karate. Shotokan karate, Karate whats the difference?
Eye of the Tiger replied to Eye of the Tiger's topic in Karate
I thought kickboxing was devoloped in America. When American GI's returned from Japan after ww2 and brought with them Karate and they made it into their own style. Kickboxing. -
you can also get paddles that you can fix to a wall. Take note, that after you strenghen your arm you should always do flexibility stretches before you start swinging cox when you strenghen your arm, say in weights you crunch up the muscle so when you punch, it hurts because your tearing it. Stretching lenghthens the muscle so you can then swing out as fast as you like.

HI I do kickboxing and there is a karate class that is also part of the same organisation(SAMA Organisation). Do you think I would benefit from vdoing this karate and kickboxing or shall I just stick with what I got. Take in mind I love to fight and it is my favourate sport and hobbie. THX IN RETURN

Shotokan karate, Karate whats the difference?
Eye of the Tiger replied to Eye of the Tiger's topic in Karate
OK I understand. The reasen I wanted to know was because I do kickboxing at the SAMA Organisation and I was thinking of doing karate there to, coz its just before my kickboxing. It doesn't say shotokan karate so I wondered what was the difference between them. -
Shotokan karate, Karate whats the difference?
Eye of the Tiger replied to Eye of the Tiger's topic in Karate
Ok no one seems to be awnsering so I'll be more pecific. Difference between Shotokan karate and NORMAL karate. What I mean is the karate where you look in the sports directory, you find martial arts and find a club that sais 'karate'. Not kenpo or some of the other millions of styles just the average karate. If this doesn't help then I guess you can say the most popular type of karate there is.and compare that to shotokan karate. [ This Message was edited by: Eye of the Tiger on 2002-05-20 14:26 ] -
Hi I'm a kickboxer and I really want to know the difference between Shotokan karate and normal karate. I know theres all this kenpo and other styles but just normal karate and shotokan karate. Thanks in return

I do kickboxing a smany of you know by now. I love kickboxing, well fighting in general, it gives me such a rush. I am from england and everyone loves football, thats soccer to you Americans. I am probobly the only boy in England that finds it boring. But I love fighting the same way a football supporter does. But its only once a week. Should I start another martial art. I am obseesed with getting myself as phsically hard as possible, I go crazy with working out and practice kickboxing every day, even in school, in lessons I get up and start kickboxing. ILOVE IT. Well then, do you think I should do another martial art. Oh yeah the club I go to has Karate for an hour then staright after Its my kickboxing so do you thinks I should go to karate then get changed for my kickboxing staright after?

I always wanted to see what would happen if there was some big avent where all the martial arts come together or maybe just some. e.g karate vs Judo, Tai Kwn Do vs Kickboxing. Could someone please tell if there has ever been an event apart from on films, where this has actually happend or if at all. Thanks a lot in return

Hi I do kickboxing and I'm a right hard nut Yes it would be excellent for you since kickboxing is all about power and strengh. The best martial self defence in a street fight is the one that you are most suited to and enjoy. There is no point in doing something like Ju Jitsu (a very famous self defence martial art) if you don;t enjoy. Hey if your a big build kickboxing will be excellent for you, but so will a lot of other martial arts such as Judo- coz you need a lot of strengh to throw the oppenant. Make a list of all the martial arts that interest you, narrow them down and try those select few and see which one you are more suited to

new to kick boxing
Eye of the Tiger replied to ZeRo's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
I have recently started kickboxing and I have also done about 2 years of karate. I am 14 and the best tips I can give you is to do circuit raing at the gym to build up strengh, fitness(cardio vascular) and enduranece. The other is to be tough. I'll be honest with you kickboxing is not for *****s, If you want to do i you have to be pretty hard otherwise your not goona like when you get really hard with kicks and punches flighing at your face, also go with your own partner that is similar size to you, I got put with this massive adult and that hurt!!
