1st Steroids in the UFC
marie curie replied to marie curie's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Totally agreed. -
Yeh, I agree. When Chuck Norris starts kicking Death Eaters and they keep breaking in half- classic literature!
-
Why thank you!

I disagree, me and my girlfriends are always proud of our bruises. We show them off like tattoos I don't know why, exactly, but I do know that if I'm covered in bruises and happy about it, I look tough and hardcore, so that is probably a big reason.

1st Steroids in the UFC
marie curie replied to marie curie's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I just found out that though Royce wasn't in the UFC, actually Stephan Bonnar tested positive before (hence he hasn't been fighting) and got a 9 month month suspension. I think that it was inevitable, but sad nonetheless. -
I was only not in line because I couldn't afford it, but my fiance bought it for me that morning and I finnished it yesterday Awesome.

want to know if kids and adult that are fat can they do?
marie curie replied to matbla's topic in Health and Fitness
I agree, I think that wanting to kick higher or fight longer is good motivation for wanting to loose weight, too. -
Sean Sherk and Hermes Franka (who faught each other in UFC 73) both tested positive for steroids that night. So far Sherk is staying quiet and has filed an appeal, and Hermes released a statement saying that he hadn't had a fight in a while and that was the way he paid his bills, and that he was injured, so the only way he could be ready was to take something. They are getting fined plus 1-year suspensions. As for the belt, well my guess is that there will be Kenny Florian/BJ Penn/Jens Pulver-ish fight for it. Dana White must be all kinds of angry at these guys. http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=news.detail&gid=6848 http://www.nbcsports.com/ufc/1798504/detail.html

I feel the same amount of workout from both, but I get dizzy doing sit-ups (almost motion sickness) Crunches have me traveling less so I'm less likely to feel like I'm on a back-and-forthy carnival ride

I have an atama- nice gi! not great warm-weather clothing, but it's a monster to grip fight against!

I think that books are a great way to supplement one's learning, and at times, when training is interrupted for some reason, learning from books may enrich and keep the mind in the MA thought processes. I don't think that never having done MA's before, picking up a book is the best way to start.
-
My answer is no, simply because the gi-using MA's that I practice are for fun/sport, my self-defense MA's don't really utilize the gi, so it doesn't make a difference.

Great! PLease keep us posted.

is UFC just a fad
marie curie replied to masterintraining's topic in Pro Fighting Matches and Leagues
I think that like any sport it will have periods of popularity and abandonment, but a fad? Nah. It'll be around. -
Yeh, I like blue for BJJ/Judo

I prefer black, because it hides blood, dirt, anything but dust, which is easily brushed off. Also, if you are doing knife training, chalk shows up well.

7 hrs is best. which hour you start and stop depends on where you feel most comfortable, but keep in mind that you sleep best while its dark... So you are having problems with your quality of sleep, try going to bed earlier and getting up earlier. I know, right now, in Pittsburgh, sunrise is at 6pm, so I go to bed around 12 and get up around 7 feeling pretty rested. Also- something that is really bad for your sleep quality that people don't always think of- do you have cats or dogs that sleep in your bed with you? Their sleep periods aren't as long as ours, so they get up and move around a bit, pulling you out of deep sleep, so find pets comfy bed in an another room

If you broke a metacarple (in the hand just behind the knuckle) it could have healed wrong. Also, there are little tendons and ligaments that can get messed up. There are diff fixes for each of these, too, no one cure-all. Even if it doesn't hurt, you should see a dr, because a simple x-ray may let you know what's wrong and what to do to fix it.

New self-defense laws cause confusion

Interesting. Yeh, I try not to kill people when I shoot them after they attack me, just in case- ya know?
