  1. but no one mentioned aliens or whatever. i just asked why it couldn't be that time has indeed warped? your only answer is because you say the clocks have been broken, but when i ask how, you can't answer. so really, you have no answers that substantiate your statement that the results were wrong.
  2. no. he studied wing chun under yip man (well, wong shun leung and william cheung...) jun fan kung fu is what he called the thing that he was teaching that later evolved into jkd. essentially, what he called jun fan kung fu was the wing chun that he had learnt while in hk.
  3. but that doesn't answer why it can't be just entertainment. long kiss goodnight is an entertaining film. it didn't set out to have any deep meaning. true lies is an entertaining film that didn't have a deep meaning. the usual suspects is an entertaining film that doesn't have any deep meaning. the matrix is an entertaining film that doesn't have any real deep meaning. there is sometimes an idea behind the film but then that's just a device with which the film is spun around. the idea is just the tool with which the director holds his film together with, his desire to make it entertaining.
  4. in moderation. just cos you're logged on doesn't mean you can't be doing anything else at the same time. i mean, right now, i'm halfway between doing a cad model and a 3d max animation, on icq and this message board. multi-task. prove to them women that we men can do more than one thing at the same time!
  5. i think if you were going to try to teach yourself to fight, you would have to go about it with a completely blank slate. otherwise, you might attempt to copy a move without understanding it and get it wrong. with a totally blank slate you will be doing things that you know will wotk for you, not moves that someone says will work.
  6. so why can't it be that time has indeed warped? because you say so?
  7. something came up in another thread. i'll just ask it properly here cos i seem to get sensible replies here. can anyone tell me more about something that has been refered to here on this site as shaolin kenpo/kempo karate. firstly, what is the difference between the spellings of kenpo/kempo? (i'm guessing it's just that, a spelling thing) and what about the name. ive always been confused about it because it seems to be a mix of various names from various languages. my biggest "problem", if you can call it that, is the use of shaolin AND karate in the name. as you probably know, the countries have a bad history and there is no way that either country would use each others arts' names like that. no chinese martial art would refer to karate and no karate would use the word shaolin (for a start they have their equivilant in the form of shorin). so, what can you tell me about this?
  8. i could've sworn that the virtua fighter games came out before they started holding pro tournaments. sano, what you are saying is why some gamers prefer the virtua fighter controls, not the reason for the way they are.
  9. that is still assuming that an inaccuracy has developed. and so the short answer to my question of whether you could inform us what has broken, would be "no".
  10. strange, i could've sworn i was just stating that i was confused about the name. and then i added a reason why my cofusion bothers me. see that question mark? it means a question was asked. as to yours, the answer is yes someone should explain to me as that was kinda what i was asking for.
  11. but you still haven't said anything about how it is caused to be broken. all you have said is what broken means. i asked HOW the clocks have been broken. you say that the readings were inaccurate but you don't say why they are inaccurate. the fact remains that they might not inaccurate. so once again i ask my question that remains unanswered. how have the clocks been broken?
  12. but why can't it be pure entertainment? the matrix tries to be more than just a cool film with it's fake philosophy and it's turning into a parody of itself already. and c'mon, was there really a deep meaning the james bond films? to die hard? to good ol' doctor jones? their meaning was to entertain. anything else YOU (the viewer) probably attached yourself. i go back to the matrix as a prime example. it is almost a religion now with too many people discussing the supposed messages of the film. yes the film uses lots of religious and philosophical references but why discuss the references from the film when you could be discussing the actual sources instead?
  13. what do you mean "same class"? i was refereing that the name seems to be a mix of languages. shaolin is a chinese name. the japanese equivilant is shorin. kempo, as far as i know is the romanisation of the chinese for "fist manual/book/set". karate is well, a japanese name... that is where my confusion lies. if the name is a mish mash of lanugauges, what does that say about the style? just out of interest, has anyone heard the story of "sampan style kung-fu"?
  14. even if your beliefs are wrong or unjust?
  15. to be honest i wasn't that impressed with that one. too much hype. maybe if i saw it when it was released it would've meant more to me. as it is, it's just another old horror flick. has it's moments though. anyone know suspiria?
  16. you didn't give a direct answer. you just said that the guys MIGHT have read it wrong or that the results of the experiment MIGHT not be a true indication of the reality. so can you actually tell me how the clocks have been broken instead of just saying that they have?
  17. erm, guys. just what did you expect from the film? it doesn't pretend to be anything more than entertainment. it was meant to be fun. no crouching metaphors or hidden meanings. no pretentious psuedo philosophy. there is only the one question: did you enjoy the film?
  18. i still don't get the name... how can it be "shaolin kempo karate"? that's like a "burger bolognase on rice"....
  19. and there i thought everyone knew what this meant... guess this means you should do some more reading!
  20. not good. that feckin front kick is keeping me from getting close where i want to be... and the old wing chun instinct to fling an elbow is getting me in trouble when i do get in range. i 'll get used to it soon enough.
  21. well, i still hear that no "chi master" has passed the glass of water test...
  22. the sound might be different but that isn;t how cesium clocks work. they don't monitor the waves. they monitor the cesium atoms. and all the guys have to do, is take a "count" of the clocks. how can they get this wrong?
  23. sorry mate.... but c'mon, saying that someone, let alone a pro boxer "stole" his idea was just asking for some abuse.
  24. but knees and elbows might be flying about unchecked at that range.
