  1. I would have stayed in school (got my G.E.D), attended college when I had the chance (for free ... I worked for the college itself), and .... well I won't go there ... for now. My youth wasn't all it was "supposed to be."
  2. Ok all. I need more advice. My decision to leave the main school is backfiring. Anyways, I talked to the manager of the school again about my situation. This time, it is truely a financial situation. I told him about my lack of funds (which is true. I have 27 cents in my bank account). And I told him that I didn't want to stop training, and I wanted to stay in the system, so I wanted to attend a sister school. Which would be easier on my budget. And I can get my BB, ect. Even after all that, he still wants me to buy out my contract (I have two years left on a three year contract), which would cost me $1,000. Either payments or staight up. Where am I going to get that kind of money? I truely can't afford the tuition, let alone something like that. I told my boyfriend and he thinks somehow the last manager screwed me by charging me $145 a month for tuition when every one else (he knows, he asked around) is paying $125 or something. And he thinks that the $1000 is wrong, too. I don't know what to do. I don't have a dime to my name, and I really wanted to train again. There is ONE way out of it, but it's kind of drastic. I can call the billing company myself and stop the payments. (My boyfriend did this before. He called them to stop payments on a credit card to switch to other, and they didn't charge him when the school wanted $25 fee for the change if they had to do it). Then change my bank account. But if I do this, I won't be able to set foot in that dojang again, therefore never see my boyfriend train/test again. And I would still be able to train with Heidi, but never test. Help?!?!?!?!
  3. I aslo like to know what forms you know. Are you ITF TKD or WTF TKD? Try Tang Soo Do forms, or the earlier versions of them (Shotokan versions and Shorin Ryu and earlier) and the bunkai. You won't be bored
  4. I would mix styles, but I wouldn't call it something it's not. I would give credit where credit is dew. Like if I openned a TKD school and added jujitsu, I'd say this came from Jujitsu. I wouldn't give it (both styles combined) a new name and say this is it. It's not. I'm sure all styles were new at one time, but it's just not me to do that.
  5. I forgot to mention Wally Jay in my last post, and my old TSD instructor Mr. B (I haven't seen him in a year or two).
  6. I have lots of favorites (I'm a kicker in general, so I like a lot of them). For power: side kick, back kick, Thai roundhouse, and front push kick. For height: Spinning hook, regular roundhouse, front snap kick, and cresent kick. I do favor my lead leg (any kick) when sparring, though. But other than that, the above can be on either leg.
  7. Ok, I'm an old fart, so I like the older NES and playstation games. Tetris Sonic the Hedgehog Super Mario Bros (any of them) Frogger Crash Bandacute (sp?) (ect) We bought a Gameboy SP a year or so ago, and there is versions of the games above for SP. I bought them all, and I still play them (dang I feel old LOL). I also play a few puzzle type of games on the PC when I'm bored.
  8. If I ever hit the lotto, maybe I'll do the same. Is surfing similar to snowboarding? If so, I'll pick it up quick Anyways, back on topic: KarateK, I agree. Graig (ghenisch) was very helpful to me when I was on staff here at KF. I can just think how he would be with MA. It would be cool to train with him.
  9. Hey! LOL It's more like I need the luck. She'll work me hard hehehehehe
  10. Lightning on a boat ... Heidi, if there's lightning on a boat outing, just get me in the house, will ya Thanks in advance.
  11. A good friend of mine in NJ is afraid of clowns, too. So you're not alone.
  12. Oh I forgot Red J, niel, Graig (the staff past and present, specially the ones I worked with for three years), ShoreiSmurf because he has such a cool name and avatar (and his advice helped), JWLuiza, and there's a few others that I can't think of off hand right now.
  13. atalaya, I will still be with the same system, just a different school. I still have to come here (the main dojang) to test and my boyfriend trains here, so I will still be around. Just not training here (starting next month).
  14. Ninjanurse! Wait. I know her already. She is a great technical person. I love forms and she can turn me into a forms champ (and snowboard champ hehehehehe). She is already my snowboarding instructor and she will be my MA instructor starting next month (eventhough we trained together in the past).
  15. I've only seen one person for real do it. One of my instructors. He's a big guy naturally. But he does it now so it LOOKS like he's doing a spear finger break. He touches the boards with the spear finger, then at the last second, turns his spear finger into a fist. It looks like he does the spear finger all the way through, but he showed us that he didn't. It was totally cool.
  16. You got your answer about Albany. I pass through it when I travel, but like jnpnshr411, it's very "concrete." I also did a search for a BBJ school there. I couldn't find a link, but I'm sure there is a BBJ school there.
  17. I pretty much like anything between classic rock to metal. When I play drums, I play the good ol' classics (CCR, Zepplin, Hendrix, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, ect). When I'm driving, working out, or cleaning house, I listen to stuff like old skool Metallica, SOD, Disturbed, ect. I like just about any "rock/metal" type stuff. Even a few top 40 songs on those hit stations (the ones that play just the hits).
  18. I'm about three hours west of Albany (closer to Buffulo). I live in the Rochester area, but I may be of some help. What would you like to know?
  19. I agree, fish. I failed my 1st gup/kyu test the first time around (I had a major brain freeze LOL). And like you, I worked on the areas I needed to, and I improved a lot. I passed with flying colors the second time around. And that test is the one that I'm most proud of. Not because I passed, but the experience in the whole situation, and what I had to do to get there. So, I know you will pass this time around and be proud. Good luck.
  20. Thanks Red J. Heidi is a good person, too. I can't wait to start training with her (regularly, that is. We trained together in the past).
  21. Hey all. Update on that instructor. She did get a talking to. She tried to blame it on my boyfriend saying he was in the wrong, but others defended him (that were there). So I don't know what will happen now. Anyways, update on me also. I am leaving this school. Not the system, just the school. I am going to a sister school run by Ninjanurse. She will be my new instructor. It will be much cheaper there, no politics, and I will be taught by a really good instructor. I had a long talk with her last night, and I have decided that this is the right thing to do. I will still have to go to this school to test, but other than that, it will be totally her school (training-wise).
  22. Good point, NothingsShadow. My instructor has been doing MA for about 40 years (maybe slightly less), but he has a BA in business. I don't know if that means anything. He is definitely business minded, it seems.
  23. I will Smurf. She wasn't in BB class last night, so nothing happened. But I shall know something on saturday (I'm sick with a cold, so I'll be playing hookie from class tonight LOL).
