  1. You mentioned karate as one style , karate is over 200 styles .. Best martial art is the art that you belive in !!!
  2. They are not supposed to kill anyone , they are preachers , remeber ??? They must have started martial arts when they were young . Sometimes old people are not even allowed to do any type of hard sports .
  3. Hehe , like they will ever be able to perform those "matrix" move
  4. You can't test for shodan unless you are 13 in our dojo , 18 is the minimum for nidan . Is it fair to become nidan at age 15 after 5 years for training ???????? HE^L NO . It took me 6 years to become shodan !
  5. In my dojo , green belts ( plus ) are never allowed to do them regular , however , it depends on sensei's mood . Sometimes we do them with knuckles , 5 fingers , 3 fingers or even 1 finger .
  6. Hey all . I live in Lebanon , 22 years old . I am training in kyokushin for 8 years now ( IKO3 ) and i am nidan . thats me , what about you ivette ??
  7. Then kyokushin is Iron Body .
  8. That kick is not hard to learn and impractical . And it was taken from a low place ( the photographer was sitting .. ) therefore it seems to be very high I tried to use that kick once and what my opponent did is simply step back , I felt to the ground . Lucky for me it wasn't a real situation
  9. Lol.. i always figured the karate kid as " shotokan - wado ryu " karateka , and the cobra kai dude as " kyokushin " karateka
  10. That made me laugh for an hour I presented my first written test at my shodan grading
  11. I disagree , loosing a fight is better than loosing self respect
  12. Some of those preachers might be old and week , they can't train in a full martial art system .
  13. i kind of knew that ur gonna be the member of the month
  14. And in striking weight plays a big role , it's very hard to beat an opponent who weighs more than you , wither you are going to strike , throw or takedown !!!
  15. Been there , done so , and I don't claim it's useless , it's just that SOME moves are flashy and useless in real situation .. Plus , TKD is not the exact same thing as karate , and what karate style are we talking about ?? is it hard karate or soft karate ??? shotokan , goju ryu or kyokushinkai ( or whatever ) . Must specify . For instance TKD's roundhouse is slightly different than shotokan's roundhouse which is different than kyokushinkai's roundhouse .
  16. Lol........ so thats why !!!!! My mistake , sorry . I ment shin
  17. And why is he attacking me
  18. Why not ??? maybee he went there cause thats what his style lacks , maybe he wants to create his own pholosiphy
  19. Congratulations ... tests will get harder but you will get better
  20. I watched "The rundown" tonight ( i have the DVD ) and i got confused , the fight seemed like capoiera most of the times , however , what made me suspect it was vovinam in the first place is a move that was used frenquently in the two vovinam presentations that i have watched on TV . the move is , when he locks the head with his feets and takes him down to the ground ( does it have a name ???? )
  21. I am talking about the scene where the rebels trap the rock and start kicking the hell out of him , i assumed that was Viet Vo Dao cause of the high flying moves they did . it is similar to kung fu in lots of stances , hand techniques , foot techniques and some of the high flying moves , also china is the only neighbouring country of viet nam ( Vietnam history is characterized by the fightings against the Chinese invasions ) so the chinese martial arts have definatly influenced Viet Vo Dao
  22. Welcome to the world of martial arts
  23. Welcome .. Enjoy
  24. 22 , born in 16/3/1983 . Been in martial arts for 8 years
