Best for UFC/MMA?
y2_sub replied to MMACHAMP's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
A modern martial artist MUST train in two (or more ) fighting styles if he is to compete in UFC . BJJ alone is not effective all the times and Muay thai alone don't cover ground fighting so a combination of both would be perfect . In the other hand a combination of a good traditional striking art with a good traditional grappling art works perfectly as well , say kyokushin and judo , isn't that a perfect mix ?? What made the biggest impact in UFC is BJJ , whats good for the future of UFC/MMA is Muay thai I would like to c how a daidu juku guy would do in UFC !!!!!!!! -
A traditional guy would like to watch the WKF world tournament more than watching a K-1 or UFC match
-
Nothing wrong with that , it's just not traditional , traditional martial artists are .. well ................ traditional

soft vs. hard
y2_sub replied to BKJ1216's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
Is it shudokan or shidokan ???? If shidokan then it's a hard style , extra hard in fact -
soft vs. hard
y2_sub replied to BKJ1216's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
Almost all karate is mostly Hard. But remember there is no go without ju, or ju without go. (go is hard, and ju is soft). And that is the beauty of Goju Ryu.....Hard AND Soft, BUT....and this is the key....Goju is about being BOTH AT THE SAME TIME Can you tell me were is the ju(soft) in GoJu ryu ????? from the way i c it , it's 90% hard -
True . I don't think it's overrated , however I think it's missused .

I navigated thorough the site and i came up with 2 conclusions : 1- World Oyama karate seems to be 99% yokushin 2- That dojo doesn’t look like a McDojo , fees are reasonable (79 unlimited), and from the photo gallery , they seem to have some good fighters , if a dojo is going to make me a good fighter then i don't care wither it was McDojo or not

Ignorance of Western Martial Arts
y2_sub replied to UseoForce's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I agree , western martial arts are ignored . However , you listed a group of armed fighting styles (knife , dagger , sword etc , etc .. ) generally , when speaking of eastern martial arts , we are referring to unarmed combat , for instance karate = empty hand , jujitsu was developed for the samurai warriors who lost their arms . When speaking of unarmed fighting styles , Chinese , Okinawan and Japanese system seam to be far more effective adn popular than western styles Savate is French kickboxing right ?? -
SHotokan guys are all over the place Kyokushin here
-
I disagree , k-1 is sport oriented just like UFC .

Hard , i don't think we have soft techniques in our style (No Yang here ).

y2_sub replied to Jane_Doe's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I have always been better in sparring , it's in my blood -
Which do you think is better ? which has more influence on martial arts ( modern and traditional ) ? which has the best fighters ? k-1 top fighters vs UFC's top fighters , who will win the day ?? UFC : Ultimate GROUND Fighting championship . K-1 : Best kickboxers around , some of the best MMA fighters .

Also wearing ankle and wrist weights while practicing your basics is usefull if you want to gain power and speed .
-
I would go with that , the only one that could really help you is your instructor and Runing is great for loosing weight . Also weight training can be usefull

Looking to restart my martial arts study.
y2_sub replied to Enviroman's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
If you want to get fit then TKD is going to help alot . Regarding the fees , TSD is the best TKD as a martial art ?? i would go with that -
why everyone hates Taekwondo
y2_sub replied to white belt's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
When I first wanted to join the martial arts world , I was impressed by TKD , so I signed in a WTF TKD dojo and I loved training there . When my parents moved to another city(8 years ago ) , I joined a kyokushin dojo but I still constantly visit TKD dojos and I STILL love the art . No one here says that TKD is useless or ineffective , what we say is , compared to other martial arts ,"WTF" TKD can prove to be flashy and sport oriented -
