  1. Hmm..I don't think al of us said all street fights end up on the ground, but if you've ever watched a bunch of real fights...you'd know that about 70% of all street fights do end up in some type of ground fighting, whether it be ground and pound or throw down and get back up.
  2. yep I'd have to agree.
  3. Quite honestly the only prejudice I've seen in the MA is at tournaments and belt ranks.
  4. A mere one rank isn't just "mere" it is a rank, that means you have that much more knowledge...your sensei asked you to instruct them for a reason, because he apparently trusts yo have the knowledge to do so..so have confidence and show them that you are not timid, if a kid misbehaves, sit him out for a 5 minute or so, or tell sensei...have fun too...don't be afraid to teach, it helps you learn as well
  5. Hmm...sounds like a lie...but Idunno...
  6. I normally go by 6 hours of sleep..which sucks...
  7. UFC is real...however the smack-talk makes it all soap-opera like...I hate that..but it's all good..still fun as heck to watch.
  8. The horse stance is a great stance for offense/defense. The weight is 50/50, allowing you to transition into any other stance easily, and also is a great way to generate power if you do a step punch while using hips.
  9. karate should never be watered down, nor the origins..some people just aren't cut out for it, or just don't like it. The origins of karate are important to be passed down to know the history, and reasoning behind what you are learning and why/how it's done that way
  10. 15 years is a good time to aquire a black belt...a black belt shouldn't be a thing you get, it should be the concept of the meaning behind it. A belt is to hold your pants up. At our dojo it normally takes 8-9 years..but no worries, black belts will come with time, and time only.
  11. Don't know much about kyokushin except that it's full-contact..but that doesn't sound too bad to me.
  12. We train to hit when we have to hit and when being hit at don't get hit..haha simple enough.
  13. Jujitsu is awesome on the ground, but if more than 1 person attacks you, you also need to have standup skills..so kenpo is good..All arts have strong and weak points, hard to tell which one is "best"..to be honest I think the one that fits you best, is best for you.
  14. Surprisingly I've never been in a fight, either I've talked my way out of it and became friends or we just parted our own ways..why fight when it's so unnecessary.
  15. As for effectiveness I think judo throws are great, but not all of them work ALL of the time, but that goes for any martial art.
  16. All 4 you shoudl train hard in, each has their own benefits.
  17. I agree with pride....as long as you're on good terms you should be golden..but if not...order your casket now...I heard the gray ones look quite nice.
  18. I study jujitsu and karate, but both out of the same style. I know that a few martial arts are good to crosstrain in, but there is a limit sometimes on people I believe where they can't focus..for me it would be about 3-4. I like to get good at just a couple things, than to vary at a lot of things and not be so good at all of them.
  19. Can I get some fries with that bullsh...uh...I mean front kick?
  20. I have a full-blooded German Shepherd named Jazzy- 6 years old, and a small 11 year old mut (ankle biter) with lots of terrier in her named crackers (yeah, we hate the name too..but we got her from one of my mom's customers)..haha
  21. I have a weird story about a dream. I don't know what it was about or what it signified, but here it is: I was riding in a car with somebody, I didn't know who, when we passed these two barns side by side. One was a white barn the other was a tan barn. Well there was a fence dividing the two, and on one side was a farmer leaning on the fence sucking on a wheathstraw wearing blue jeans and overalls, and on the other side a farmer sitting on a tractor talking to the other farmer wearing overalls and a red shirt. About a year later, I was riding in the car with my mom, and we passed the exact same thing, same barns, same people, same clothes, same details...one of the freakiest moments of my life.
  22. c'mmmmooooonnnnnn...you know you love it
