  1. Of course, your ultimate goal is not to get hit at all, however, in a real street fight, no matter how much you train, there is a good possiblity that you'll get hit. This is why it is important to have hard contact sparring so you get conditioned to taking a hit. If you've never been hit hard before, you'll go into a reality shock and lose your mental edge in a fight and once you lose your mental edge, you'll lose physically.
  2. Hi jbw7577 and welcome!
  3. Hi Dean and welcome! Kalama? Are you Hawaiian?
  4. I don't know what he said but he never came back to class!
  5. Hi Ashigeru and welcome!
  6. I just like the old muscle cars because I grew up in that era!
  7. This is the car that I like.......Love those old muscle cars!!!
  8. I just wanted everyone to know that he also asked me to teach the guy a lesson but I refused to get involved. I quit training with this guy years ago. He had a habit of losing his temper in class and he even smoked in class while we trained. For those of you that are curious, he was my Kempo instructor.
  9. Your cars were truly awesome! Ever think about doing it again?
  10. I haven't been sued yet but I've been charge with assault on numerous occasions and I did use minimal force.
  11. I was once a student of an instructor who got offended by another student who disareed with what was being taught. The instructor pulled some of us on the side and told us to teach the guy a lesson. People took turns beating this guy up. They knocked his head gear off of his head and really hit him hard. I felt that this was really wrong for the instructor to do this. Was this justified???
  12. I never heard of any sensei being sued but I guess that I always worry about it because I work in a correctional facility where staff are constantly being sued by inmates for anything and everything.
  13. Hi Carl and welcome!
  14. Sorry, I was just answering your question....
  15. What's the easiest way to reverse the situation when you've "turned turtle" and someone is on your back?
  16. Here in Hawaii, nunchakus can be bought in any martial arts store. There are no laws for obtaining them or making them. I haven't heard of any cases where people used them illegally. Most crimes are committed with guns. I learned using wooden nunchakus and obtained many lumps in the process.
  17. I began teaching because a couple of my friends kept asking me to teach them. I asked my instructor and he told me to do it! There are so many rewards that come with teaching such as seeing the happiness that you can bring to others. The down side that I did not foresee was people leaving the school. I thought that people only left when they were not satisfied however many of my students left due to job schedules, moving, and many left when they encountered personal problems in their life such as wife, husband, girlfriend, boyfriend problems. Some people left after getting hit and they couldn't handle it.
  18. Davison, My being an animal lover, I just want to thank you for doing a great job!

  22. I once owned a 1970 Challenger witha 440 cu engine with 3 2 barrel carbs, 4 speed and a 4-10 rearend. I also owned a 1967 camaro with a 327 cu engine, 4 speed, and a 4-11 rearend. What ride did you or do you have?
  23. I like to see my students rough it up once in a while, however I am always worried about liability. Everyone signs a liability form but this alone does not completely protect oneself from liability if any type of negligence can be proven. My question is how do you provide more contact without worrying about being sued?
  24. You were lucky to have a companion for so long! I love those sausage dogs!
  25. The best students are those that don't miss any classes and are respectful. Everything else can be taught to them.
