  1. If you can, do both. However, as far as the slippery issue, that will be good for you to learn to deal with; what if the drunkard spilled his beer? It's also good because you're training to do holds that are really hard when they're slippery. Imagine how much easier it will be when they're dry. But if you can, train in both. You'll get a different experience from each one that you wont get from the other.
  2. Toyo, not sure the weight, this is my training gi. Also wear a Busho for teaching, testing, tournaments, etc.
  3. http://www.kicktech.net/ Try here.
  4. Backflip and ushiro geri with kiai
  5. But could he have stood still? Was the roll voluntary? Was he just trying to move?
  6. Well it's actually a school club, but we're a branch of my dojo. The school reimburses clubs when they buy equipment and stuff like that. I'm going to ask the school to reimburse the members because I don't want the cost (came to $60 for insurance, a gi, gloves last year) to scare away potential students.
  7. My sensei is a 6th dan, the assistant instructors are 2nd and 3rd dan.
  8. I don't charge them. They just have to buy their own equipment (and the school reimburses them).
  9. If it's self defense, groin kick, or to the knee.
  10. Nice palmstrike, good job sticking up for a friend.
  11. http://www.karateforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=26365 http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6317897528868535161&q=judo+armbar&pl=true Why did the guy in blue roll? Was it the other judo-ka's weight or was it an attempt to escape? Can someone explain this armbar to me?
  12. I have been learning grappling with a friend, but I also watch stuff online. Usually what I do when I don't have a partner is take a wooden kitchen stool and practice the technique. As pineapple said, it's not the same but it gives you some of a feel for the technique.
  13. LOL UFC 60 was in LA. I didn't know MMA was illegal in CA. When did it become legal?
  14. Yup... I've seen so many fights where the guy jumps on the other guys chest and pounds his face. UFC is great entertainment- I just got into watching it when UFC 60 came. I'm pretty sure if someone attacked a UFC fighter, it wouldn't go well for them.
  15. I don't know... I wouldn't try those flips if I were drunk (wouldn't try them anyway, lol) And the stuff at the end...
  16. LOL, that reminds me, I saw last night the "99 worst self-inflicted injuries". Ouch
  17. I only use wooden, but here's the durattan test I was talking about http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4525669811454423207&q=durattan.
  18. I opened up a branch of my dojo at my school and I just barely had enough students for the school to allow it. I need more students... two of them are leaving the school, one of the dropped out, so I need a way of getting more people to join. Here's what I will be doing: Promotional Video and flyers What else should I do to get the word out and get more students for next year? Any advice on what the promotional video should focus on and what the flyers should say?
  19. Congratulations to your sister, and the family!
