  1. LOL! That's a great anecdote! I can just think of how my English teacher would react... I'm sure he already thinks I'm a little weird. That would be the icing on the cake!
  2. My gosh... Yeah, I have a few things to say. First of all, I have to commend you on your strength to not rip this guy to shreds. I know for a fact that my parents would not hold back if something happened to me. It would be a fight to the death. "Who cares about prison?" mentality. I don't know what I would do. I think that I would want to fight, just because I usually carry some rage around with me for other reasons, and if I had a daughter who was being threatened by some jerk, I'd do what Sensei has told us several times: First, try to use words to get your point across. If he keeps advancing on you or her, and there's no other option, then use force. Given the opportunity to defend myself, I think I'd go crazy and just simply turn into an animal, so congratulations on keeping your cool. Although this guy is supposedly getting help for his actions, I don't think it's enough. It's a risk to have him living with you. Just my opinion. I would want him as far away from my family and me as possible. He obviously has a sickness (raping someone for 2 days... ugh.) that won't be cured with a slap on the wrist. God forbid he goes off his rocker again and dares to try something to any one of you. I'd get him the heck out of the house, and fast. I think that what could have happened is the least of your worries. You did a good job of surpressing your anger in my opinion, though you smacked him. Everyone makes mistakes. It could have gone beyond that easily, but it didn't. I wish you and your family good luck. Stay safe, Mr. Mike.

    Chickens

Yummy! I love chicken. In fact, we have some from Swiss Chalet sitting on the table... But that's for my dad's dinner today. I'm having an omelet and bean salad. Has anyone here tried frog legs? People always say it tastes like chicken. How can that be?
  4. No. At my dojo, they only let students grade if they are ready. I think the only way you could fail is if you happen to do everything wrong at the grading.
  5. Hmm... That's a good point. *ponder ponder*
  6. It would be funnier if I could hear the actual tune. Same goes for all those songs.
  7. Oh, really? *put hands on hips* Well, we'll just see about that! Nah, I want to keep going with the Proactiv stuff and see if it gets better at all. It really varies. Some people see results in 4 days, some in 3 weeks, etc.
  8. LOL. What about that famous Lamb Chop song? "This is the song that never ends. Yes, it goes on and on, my friend. Some people started singing it not knowing what it was, and they'll continue singing it forever just because... This is the song that never ends..." And so on! I will never forget that song. It's been years and I haven't! Really, any catchy jingle off a commercial will do.
  9. You know, I've been using the Proactiv system for maybe nearly 2 months now, and I don't see much of a difference. I don't have severe or even moderate acne, just a few pimples, but I was expecting perfect skin, I must admit. Nope! I heard that using the oxy creams works, but you have to be faithful and do it everyday. I don't know about that, as I've tried oxy before...
  10. Wow. I've never heard of it, but it sounds very interesting! I love that name; sounds very Tai Chi.
  11. Yep, that's exactly how things are done at my dojo. Kenpo-Sloth, in response to your questions: -Yes, I would say so. -Sometimes; it depends on the name. -Not that I know of, but we have alternate ways of referring to a name. For example, instead of "maewashi geri," we'd just say, "roundhouse kick." -He he. Probably.
  12. Good idea! Thank you! By the way, for all those who asked, my clothes are fitting pretty well!
  13. LOL! I'd have to agree. In some ways, that might be unfortunate... Do you read any particular passage, seersin?
  14. Alright. Let me be the first to ask... why? No, seriously.
  15. What's boring?
  16. Welcome, Juniper, and may I say what a great intro!
  17. Welcome! Cute name!
  18. *sigh* I always seem to feel this way, aefibird. I try to distract myself, pray, and, of course, go to the dojo. It doesn't work if what happened in the dojo is what made you feel bad, though...
  19. I don't like the cream-filled eggs, but just today, I ate a Caramilk egg and a Wunderbar egg. Yum!
  20. Noooo! Take her to the dojo and prove her wrong!
  21. I would do this kind of thing more often, but we don't at my dojo, and if I were to try and do this at home, I'd constantly smash into things.... Maybe once the weather improves, I could try this on my balcony.
  22. *whew* Thanks for the comments, everyone! I feel much more at ease with my new weight! At least I gained it thanks to karate.
  23. I should get someone to try this on me; it sounds really cool! Have you done it before, cathal?
  24. You don't grade on the forums. Your belt colour corresponds to the number of posts you have. http://www.karateforums.com/faq.php Scroll down until you see the coloured belts. This should clear things up.
  25. I went to the doctor's today and found out how much I really weigh... and I'm still in shock. My height is about 168 cm and I now weigh 137 pounds, as opposed to a few months ago where I steadily weighed 125 pounds. Does this sound unhealthy? Keep in mind that I've gained this weight after starting my karate training, so it might be muscle (I know that muscle weighs more than fat tissue), which I've developed a lot of. Is this okay? I'm just a little freaked because I've never gained this kind of weight so rapidly. 12 pounds in about 5 and 1/2 months...
