  1. Awww! Happy Birthday!!! I'd bake a cake, but I don't know how...
  2. You got cut on the tongue? I'm almost afraid to ask how that happened...
  3. Hmm... I don't get what's funny, really. Can you explain the humour in this, please?
  4. Welcome! I love that reference to Austin Powers! (Allow myself to introduce... myself.)
  5. I have a friend who does this occasionally does this. I think I did this once, but I've never really concentrated on it. I have, however, made myself think about something before falling asleep to ensure that I dreamt about it. It worked! Has anyone here seen the movie, Waking Life? There's a very interesting, philosophical, and creepy discussion about lucid dreaming. I saw this movie in philosophy class.
  6. No, but I loved the movie (musical). Ooooooooooooklahoma, where the wind comes sweeping down the plains...
  7. Dear God... I got my orange belt yesterday AND my sparring gear. I haven't sparred yet, but I have class tomorrow, so I might. With everything I've been hearing (and seeing) with regard to sparring, I can't help but be a little freaked out. *tremble*
  8. He he. That's sad.
  9. Wow, what an idea! That sounds like a good way to increase knowledge and awareness about your art. I have, in the past, mentioned to Sensei that I would love to concentrate more on the spiritual aspects of karate. 5 seconds of meditation doesn't always cut it for me. However, I don't think any of the stuff I'd like to do is in the curriculum. I'm on my own!
  10. If you tell your friend that you have a black belt and his reply is, "So? I have one too!" and he points to the belt he is wearing (Ya know... the one that's actual clothing? Yeah, this one isn't so good. ). By the way, Mr. Mike, I don't think I could have held my tongue. I would want to tell him soooooo much!
  11. Heh. Tell me about it. The only problem I've had occur with regard to long nails is when I make a tight fist. I don't feel a thing until I relax my hand and look down... nice, deep marks from where my nails have dug in. Normally, though, I just cut my nails and everything is fine. *looks down at fingernails* Uh oh...
  12. My gi top is always fine, but the pants are a teeny bit too long, so I just roll it up once at the waist. Problem solved.
  13. Heh. Reminds me of... well, me. Nowadays, during strenuous classes, I usually think things like, "Oh, God, I'm tired! I want water!" Or during running drills, it's more like, "Gaaaaaah! Come on! Enough!" Yeah, it's depressing, but all the work is worth it in the end.
  14. Welcome home!
  15. LOL. Interesting!!! LOL. Awww! "Fudgefiddle." That's cute, I like that.
  16. Welcome! Nice name!
  17. Cadbury (I think) minieggs for sure! Once you get past the shell, they're melt-in-your-mouth!
  18. CrippledFingers, those are great!! Since starting MA, I find myself doodling in my school agenda little stick people doing kata. I've drawn Heian Shodan and Nidan out completely. Kinda cute, but it might just be me.
  19. Would Mandarin be one of those buffets?
  20. Geez, I hate when I get those days. It just throws the rest of my day off completely. I'll get all sad and mopey. Gah. It's amazing how much karate affects me. I'm thrilled, though, that today was a total "on" day. Me happy! Don't want to jinx my other classes, though. Knock on wood!
  21. Where in the forum did you get the feeling that people want to get back at their senseis, martialman101?
  22. Yeah, I also have "bacne." It sucks!!! I always think people are looking at it when I change before and after karate. I'm thinking of calling Proactiv and ordering their body wash.
  23. This is going to sound really random, but just knowing that, as you said, Mr. Mike, we martial artists (I love that term!) tend to think the same way and become alert and have preconceived movements and scenarios in our head, kind of makes me feel closer to you all and like I belong in this worldwide community of karatekas and the like. I've had that happen to me more and more frequently. Glad we all share this natural occurence.
