  1. Welcome, welcome!
  2. LOL. Oh, Kieran-Lilith... I can't believe you started this thread. Yay! But yes, bunnies... cute, but can be surprisingly temperamental and bite when you least expect it. I had a friend who had one for some time, and when I went over to see it, sitting on her lap, it bit her on the stomach... And I had just been asking if it would bite...
  3. Omigosh. I would LOVE to go to a karate camp. That sounds so great. Think of all you'd learn! I should ask if my dojo knows of one, but I have my doubts...
  4. LOL! No problem!
  5. I've always wondered if it's a problem for those training in several arts, either at the same time, or not. Apparently, there are some instances where confusion arises, but for the most part, it's a good way to gain MA knowledge.
  6. It's interesting, I was thinking about something similar to this a few days ago. I think that budo is like religion, in a way; it seems like you have less followers, but you have to remember that it's a good cause, a good thing we do. Thus far, I've been taught to expect the unexpected with respect to karate, but even though there is a good chance that we karateka will never use our skills, you just never know. Even though it seems harder and harder to teach (and even learn) budo nowadays, keep in mind that dojos are still up and running, and that there are people that are completely faithful to the art. There are also more and more people that are joining. I have a friend who started coming to watch my karate classes, and after 4 or 5 times, decided to join. There's still hope! Hang in there. If it weren't for the people who love the martial arts (and Patrick!), this website wouldn't exist.
  7. Welcome! Glad you're on board!
  8. Welcome! Impressive resume!
  9. Yeah, good luck, Kieran-Lilith!
  10. ^-^ Awww! That sounds cute, yet vicious.
  11. Back flip, land in the splits, punch, KIAI!
  12. Okay! Back on topic, all! Maybe someone should start another post about these furry creatures in General Chat. I, as well as others, I assume, really want to hear about funny things while doing kata!
  13. I have a friend working at Baskin Robbins (ice cream shop) right now. She says it's hard on the wrist at first, though... You could also try movie theatres or other places like that.
  14. I think that if a person truly possesses the maturity to understand what it means to have second dan, much less a black belt, as well as the skill, then, it's alright. It's very debatable to many people, though.
  15. Welcome!
  16. He he. Yes, you're normal!
  17. Wow! That looked awesome! Glad you all had fun! I hope more members can find a way to get together!
  18. I think we all go through a bit of a posting spree, especially when one first discovers the site and finds that there is much to say. It happened to me! Granted, I didn't post that much, but I was on here daily. I think the most I may have posted was 20 a day. It tapered off, of course, and now I try to average 5 or so either daily or every other day. Glad you have much to say, Sam! If you feel like you need a break, though, take one. We don't want you to burn out!
  19. *bow* Arigato! (Thank you!) Glad to see someone with a bit more humility, especially with what we martial artists do.
  20. Sofas?? For fun?
  21. Welcome to the forums!
  22. Hope you enjoy the forums!
  23. Yes, you have, shotochem. In my opinion, the moment in which an instructor lets you know that you will be testing is the moment that you have your black belt in spirit. Congratulations! It's great that you enjoyed the journey, and didn't worry about the destination. That's exactly what my sensei told me, and I think it's great advice. Good luck on your test! I'm sure everything will go well. Please let us know how things went!!
  24. This is a fairly touchy topic, and should be approached very carefully. Men and women have different talents, and lose to each other all the time. Sex shouldn't be a factor in martial arts; skill should.
