  1. Hang on... I know this doesn't have to do with the topic, but your sensei told you what another student said about you??
  2. *start to creep away slowly* It was okay, I guess. It might offend some people, though. I once saw someone's post asking the previous posters not to refer to Japanese people as "japs." I think someone will always be offended. One should be careful, although I guess you can't always avoid annoying someone.
  3. LOL. Hey, I like it!
  4. Two high blocks and a nikute, KIAI! (taken right from Heian Nidan )
  5. Welcome! Hope you find all the info you need about MA or anything else. (Check out the General Chat section!)
  6. I once had the most awesome dream where I was Xena, Warrior Princess, but with short hair. I had this great sword that I knew how to use and I had to fight these barbarian guys to save a friend. Well... I didn't really fight them... I yelled, "Stop!" and ran away. BUT as I was escaping, I jumped down this small elevator-like shaft to a very long hallway where my friend was being held. All, in all, the feeling I got from being in that dream was just great. This was years ago, before I started MA training.
  7. Hey, James! Welcome! I've seen some of your posts and have to say that they're very interesting. You'll be a great addition to our MA community!
  8. I love the sense of community here and how well people are welcomed into it. I love being here!!!
  9. I really wish that we could meditate longer than 10 seconds and do it more consistently. By the way, Corpand, which sensei did you speak to?
  10. I think we all know someone who reminds us of Napoleon. This is funny because out of my group of four friends, two of us loved it and two of us didn't. The two that loved the movie always try to convince us of its funny qualities, and I understand why it might be really funny, but it just didn't make me laugh. I really liked the Rex Kwon Do scene, though. I guess I appreciate it more now that I practice MA.
  11. I agree 100%! Very true, very true. As for the whole elevated white blood cell count... to me it sounds like it could be leukemia. Let's pray it isn't. My thoughts are with you and your sensei and his family.
  12. Just remember that what goes around, comes around. I think eventually, the universe has a way of balancing itself out. People get what they deserve, good or bad.
  13. Not that many. I can probably do about 40 before collapsing onto my stomach.
  14. Hello! Don't worry, here at Karateforums, you'll develop an online social life! Enjoy!
  15. Hello, there, and welcome! Hope you like it here!
  16. He he. Funny you should mention that... If you ever check the can, printed right on it is a warning that one should not drink more than 2 cans per DAY! As well, if you combine Red Bull with alcohol, it is toxic to your system. I think part of the reason is because Red Bull contains, like, 80 mg of caffeine per can.
  17. Maybe it could be hypertension, or persistant high blood pressure. If you haven't already, maybe you should get yourself checked out for that.
  18. Don't worry, Son Goku the monkeyking, there's hope, I'm sure. My dad smoked quite a few cigs--nearly a pack or more, I think-- for over 40 years, but he quite cold turkey last year for fear of health problems. I guess he began to feel something or he heard his friends talking about people who had had to get their legs amputated, probably due to blood clots. It was extremely hard for him at first. He went through so many mood swings as the nicotine slowly left his body. But I think it was worth it. We're all a bit happier because of it. Hang in there! Talk to your grandparents, and tell them that you're worried about them; that they're important to you and you want them to be with you for a loooooong time. Good luck!
  19. I'm the only one in my classes that runs to the sidelines and gets her water bottle to get a drink. If I didn't, I would gag because of how dry my throat becomes after a little while. The senseis seem to understand my situation. How else would I be able to do things without staying hydrated? I'm always the one zipping past people mumbling, "Sorry, sorry, sorry..."
  20. During karate classes, I drink water. I'd like to drink some gatorade, but the only ones I have right now are coloured (orange and red), and I don't want to spill it on my white gi. I've also had Red Bull before a class and it seems to work. Yummy Red Bull.
  21. I'm so sorry to hear that, KarateChick06! I hope everything's okay with your sensei. As for the card, since you guys seem to be on friendlier terms, I don't think it would be a bad idea to write a little more on it. You could start by telling him something about how you and the dojo hope for a quick recovery and that he return soon. Maybe you could also tell him that you consider him to be a special person and tell him a bit about what you've learned from him, not just technique-wise, but life lessons, if any. I guess my main point is to let him know that he's had an effect on someone, and that he's appreciated and being worried about. Some carefully-placed humour might help lighten things a little as well. I hope I've helped. If you'd like to chat a bit at all, pm me!
  22. LOL. My gi is from Budo World. Based on your comments about sparring gear, I just hope my dojo doesn't get the equipment from there, too!
  23. LOL! I've heard some bad things about Oxyclean, though; mostly that it doesn't work. I don't know how many people would have the patience to soak their clothes in that for so long!
  24. Omigosh! Well... let's hope he doesn't end up regretting it later. *wince* Oh, man... I don't want to judge but that DOES seem reckless. If he really wanted something that showed he practiced MA, perhaps it would have been a bit better to get the actual MA style tattooed, not the club's logo. Who knows? What if the club closes later in the future?
  25. I've got a Siemens phone (dark blue) with the Fido/Rogers wireless company. It's alright, but I'd like to switch the actual phone for something a little funkier sometime in the future.
