  1. I wholeheartedly agree. Luckily, I'm like that. A couple of friends came to watch me in a karate class, and said that I am so serious and focused while practicing, it scared them. I don't think I've ever been more devoted to something.
  2. Hey, Sutiivu! No, not from Saskatchewan (sorry), but I'm a native Ontarian.
  3. Evil, Mr. Mike! Evil, I say!
  4. Yes! Good luck, and I'm sure we'd love to see the finished product when it's ready! You could post it in the articles section here.
  5. I prefer solid colours like white and black. I once saw a gi that had gross-looking stars and stripes all over it. I think it was made out of a silky material. Not for me. With the way I sweat, I need cotton!!!
  6. I guess if you can withstand these kind of jolts, you're brave on that level.
  7. You could add some tips as well, if you wish!
  8. LOL! Really?? Uh oh... I've been living a lie, then!
  9. Ewwwwwwwwwwwww! (But true.)
  10. Doubt it. Chewing gum can give you headaches, though, because of the repetitive chewing motion.
  11. Bonjour, kataman!!! J'habite dans l'Ontario, mais j'apprends le français dans l'école. J'espère que je pourrai parler parfaitement un jour... Si mon français est très mal, je suis désolé! A bientôt!
  12. I second that, krunchyfrogg. Use my philosophy, dtstiachi: "Accept, don't expect." Essentially, what that means is accept when your instructor tells you that you are ready, don't expect to be told every time you walk into class, like I used to. You'll feel much better, and when you ARE ready, it will come as a pleasant surprise.
  13. Heh. Reminds me of the rule in England where no one (especially Catholics (grr)) can be queen or king if not of the Protestant religion.
  14. If by fighting you mean sparring, then kata, although I haven't really learned how to spar. Right now, though, kata is my absolute favourite thing to work on in the dojo.
  15. LOL! I should make a mental not to not do that.
  16. isshinryu5toforever, who is the founder of your style, just so I get the funny part of that?
  17. Arrrrrrrrgggggghhhhh! I fell for most of them...
  18. I love them!! I think I would have to say Evanescence, though. Jakalope is making its way up my favourites list as well.
  19. This has been posted already. http://www.karateforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=12199
  20. Yes. You use pads to protect your head, hands, and feet, as well as a mouthguard to protect your teeth. There are several types of sparring that I've heard of such as full contact or point sparring. You generally use techniques on your partner or the person you are sparring to score points. It is like fighting. Sorry I can't explain any further, but as a yellow belt, I still have not learned how to spar.
  21. oooooooovine king!
  22. Hello, Yabyahoo, and welcome to karateforums! Be sure to post a little something in the Introductions forum. Oh, wait! You already did. Oh, well. Have fun here!
