If you're a well rounded martial artist these problems should not occur - as a generalisation, striking "pushes" grappling "pulls". Answer? Do both

Fabio Santos???

Hi Fabio Santos has a very good reputation - BUT, here is my advice to you. If I was in San Diego there is onely ONE man I would seek out- Roy Harris. Roy is awesome - he's a Black Belt in BJJ and also a Full Instructor in JKD under Paul Vunak. I have his instructional tapes, I've spoken to him online - and if you like I can send you a LOT of excellent training material concerning BJJ that I've got from Roy. -
This is where we disagree - it has everything to do with doing the right thing here & now, and nothing to do with "salvation". Looks like we will never agree on this -which is ok too. BTW - I have read the Bible from cover to cover. And the Qur'an. And many other religeous texts. And I will encourage my children to do the same when it comes time for them to find their own truth. _________________ YODA KarateForums Sempai 2nd Degree Black Belt : Doce Pares Eskrima https://www.docepares.co.uk Qualified Instructor : JKD Concepts https://www.jkdc.co.uk Qualified Fitness Instructor (Weights, CV, Circuit, Kinesiology) [ This Message was edited by: YODA on 2002-04-16 02:44 ] [ This Message was edited by: YODA on 2002-04-16 02:50 ]

Sparing
YODA replied to dafabe's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
Great - buy a cup too. I'd rather loose my teeth than lose my "lads" -
Well said Gloi - I agree entirely. If my kids decide they need to go to a building (church) later in life in order to be a better person then they can make that decision themselves. They get taught morality at home and use us, our parents, as role models. My kids know right from wrong & behave in a well adjusted, responsible manner - I don't need a God to teach them this.

OK - Update time, and it's not good news. Since I injured my knee on the 4th I've been unable to run or do my regular cardio workouts. I've gained 4lbs Doh!

Look for "AnonymouseOne" who posts here - he is, I think, about 5th Dan Chidokan - sounds like just the guy you need to speak to

Sure does - glad you like it. If you use it / copy it etc just make sure you include the original source & copyright at the bottom. That was the condition John made when I asked him if I could put it on my site. _________________ YODA KarateForums Sempai 2nd Degree Black Belt : Doce Pares Eskrima https://www.docepares.co.uk Qualified Instructor : JKD Concepts https://www.jkdc.co.uk Qualified Fitness Instructor (Weights, CV, Circuit, Kinesiology) [ This Message was edited by: YODA on 2002-04-15 10:54 ] -
Sparing
YODA replied to dafabe's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
I have some very predictable & simple advice - buy a cup & a mouthpiece. It takes ONE misplaced kick to give you major problems. I once threw a leg kick as my sparring partner was tghrowing a high kick - I impacted hard into his "inner sanctum" - he was pasing blood for weeks & needed hospital treatment. Not good. How you can spar Thai style on a reguar basis without a mouthpiece beats me - you must either be going VERY light or you have lips made from neoprene! -
Hey guys It's yet another virus hoax - it doesn't exist. Take a peek ... http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/wtc.survivor.hoax.html

beginning sparring in BJJ

What you'll probably do is spar within certain limits first - like maybe just trying to escape from a certain position, or just trying to pass or keep the guard. Then you may work up to sparring freestyle but just working for positional dominance. Lastly you would add submissions in. That's the way I teach anyway -
Hey Bon - sure, I know what a licence is

Nah - the chip is MINE, all MINE Actually I didn't know I had it until after I bought the car. A friend who's a bit of a Bimmer expert took her for a spin & said "are you sure this is only a 525?" When we looked - there it was! He keeps promising to take it to a rolling road & have it tested for me.
