It would be about the same.

It does amaze me that many people claim the military made them experts in hand-to-hand combat. I mean, don't they realize that many, many people were in the military and that the person they are trying to * has a good chance of having been in the military themselves? Military training in martial arts is usually really bad, then again, in these times of firearms, hand-to-hand combat isn't a high priority for military traing.

Don't let the Ents see you though.

Yes.. what IS a double level 6? Is that like a +3 sword? -
All you karate guys should be ashamed. Taking out your anger and frusterations on innocent boards is not nice. How would you feel if a tree came up and decided to break you in half?!

http://www.wuweitaichi.com/photo-picnic.php Is the trick anything like to "rooting" and "grand push" tricks shown at this family picnic? -
The TaeBo program there also tells me that it's a McDojo. I bet they pull in alot of cash though!

It's a McDojo.. The word "KravMaga" on the front is a dead giveaway.

How to put weight on but be healthy as well.....
thaiboxerken replied to BritNoob's topic in Health and Fitness
well. you have to eat more calories if you want to gain weight. Calorie rich foods that are healthy are somewhat hard to find. You could try to eat more cheeses along with your meats. Eat more starch as well. That's about all you can really do. -
Ki & Aikido

Here is a way you can test that old man to see if he did really use enough force to knock down 60 people. You can simply have him try the same trick on a car, the car can't be fooled or tricked into believing that it will be knocked over. -
Ki & Aikido

Hardly a fair assessment. You already "know" that ki is real. I doubt that it is anything more than a belief, and no amount of trickery will really change my mind. Even if I experience it myself, I would still want some scientific verification for it. I know that experiences can be decieving and that I can be decieved. Yes, it's a good trick. A good trick leaves those involved fooled for quite a long time. The trick works regardless of how many individuals are in the pushing "line" of people. It is a matter of bodymechanics and convincing the people pushing that they cannot push the one person down. Beliefs can really work a person over. Have you seen the faith-healers on TV knock people out with a touch? It's the same principle. -
2 hours a day overtraining? want your opinion......
thaiboxerken replied to Croy's topic in Health and Fitness
Even in the military, they don't train intensely all of the time. They do have long hours, but they also take breaks. Also, the military doesn't really care about your long-term health, they just want you to get the job done. If you're looking to be able to train for 12 hours at a time, that's ok. If you want to actually get better flexibility, speed and strength, let your body have some recovery time. Let your mind have recovery time if you want to learn more as well. -
Kicks above the waist in a real fight?

That's how I train as well. I try to train to be effective against the faster and stronger person. -
Ki & Aikido

Body mechanics plus the belief of the students that they will be pushed down. 60 people can not effectively coordinate to actually put their force onto the old guy. The first one or two people are effective, the rest are just getting in each other's way. The first couple of people fall, and the rest fall like a domino effect. It is a trick, although an impressive one. -

The psychics, witches, mediums and dowsers say the same thing. Why should I consider your claims over theirs? It's obvious that you don't understand that ki is simply a belief or concept and nothing more. So, you won't describe those feats that only a person that can manipulate ki can accomplish, eh? This is even more of a reason not to entertain the claim that ki is real. -

What styles cross over the belt on the back?
thaiboxerken replied to P.A.L's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I didn't imply that he did. It's only an insult if it actually does insult a person. I doubt your instructor sees it as an insult, even after being "informed" that it is. -

What's the difference between that and Ki/Chi? -
Well, it's kind of hard to do your exercise about the unbendable are since "fluid tension" is an alien term to me. What do you mean by "fluid tension". I think the quality of my posts are excellent. I think you just don't like your beliefs challenged and wish that I go away so you can be happy with them.

Ki & Aikido
thaiboxerken replied to JEM618's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
You're talking about an immeasurable, supernatural energy that permeates a person's body being real. I'm discussing it as logically as I can. However, without actual evidence of such an energy, we are really only discussing a belief, aren't we? -

Such as? The same reason I don't take the advice of the Mormons that come to my front door and check out their church. Not at all, I simply have better things to do with my time. However, if you had a million dollars there, I might find a way to challenge my beliefs. You should talk. You seem to refuse to even entertain the notion that Ki is not real. You refuse it so much that you turn your back on a challenge that could help prove to the world that it is real while making you a millionaire. Your belief in Ki shows me that you don't know much about ki. It's a cult like mentality, you are told to believe something. They convince you to believe it. Now you are unable to deal with challenges to that belief and unwilling to place that belief to the test. Well then, what's the point in training Ki Aikido? -
Kicking: How high will you go?
thaiboxerken replied to Mu Ryuk's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I think it will help a person have more control kicking at the lower lines of attacks if they have practice kicking at the most difficult line of attack. -
