  1. Yea, he shouldn't hit that girl. He should shake the hell out of her.
  2. Alot of Japanese culture was influenced by China. The Japanese written language is taken from China's written language.
  3. He assigned a position to me that I did not state or imply. The wink at the end gives it away. I guess I can't, but then again.. I really don't care. If he's offended, then it's his own fault for taking it as an offense. Nonsense means.. makes no sense. It's hardly an insult.
  4. When people assign strawmen to me, I'll say that such strawmen arguments are nonsense. When someone is smug with a comment like I'll call it nonsense. I highly doubt that Sasori is really offended all that much anyway.
  5. Nonsense is nonsense, I'm not worried about being PC about it.
  6. JEM.. you are rather vague with your definition of Ki. It seems like you are evasive.
  7. And CO2, as well as H2O. There are also sulfides in the air, becaue of pollution. Most people are wrong. It's in the magazine, I'll see if I can find it (if I haven't trashed it) and maybe post some of the bibliography.
  8. Yes, the article is in the current issue of "Skeptic" magazine. https://www.skeptic.com Red Blood cells carry oxygen, not air.
  9. Swords aren't really practical in this day and age. They are still fun to train with though.
  10. I think you are wrong about the origin of "ki" concept. The Japanese got the term from the Chinese term of "Qi". The history of the Qi concept is riddled with mythology and quackery. The Chinese used to (and some still do) think that air was the substance of all life and the source of all disease. Bad "Qi" came from dark places and caves, good "Qi" came from the daylight sky and sun. It was believed that we breathe in the Qi and that the Qi flows through our bodies. They even thought that instead of blood in our veins, that they carred air. Over time, the definition of Qi kept chaning, and it still is. Now, there are different definitions of what Qi is according to different people and instructors. It seems to me that you try to define Ki as the sum of all physics that encorporate what our bodies can do. Others actually believe there is a special energy that permeates the body. Some think that it is an energy that connects all living things to each other. Now, my heart is not below my navel, what does "keep one point" really mean? Relax is simple and straight forward. #3 simply tells me to keep a low center of gravity. #4 loses me.
  11. It's usually easier to just grapple with the untrained person, because strike-sparring doesn't really do much. You punch them in the face lightly and they don't understand how you could've really hurt them.
  12. There are many, many systems of Chinese martial arts. Too many to even try to list, and many that people here, including myself, have probaby never heard of.
  13. Well, if you have a very good imagination, you can train those techniques without a partner. I think Eric Paulson sells a grappling dummy as well. However, without a partner, you can only do so much.
  14. It's Kenneth. I don't have a japanese name.
  15. This is false, science cannot determine what I'm thinking, for example. At least, not yet. As of now, what I'm thinking is untestable. However, the claims made by Ki/Chi people can be tested. Some Ki guys claim to be able to extinguish candles by thought alone, for example. This is also false. Science makes determinations from testing, it doesn't matter what it has already "proven" to itself. If science only built upon it's own knowledge, quantum physics wouldn't even be researched. No, science is interested in results. I think this is just an outright lie. Care to site any science sources to back up your claim here? I agree. This is true as well. I'm open to evidence. Have any? Science can't test your claims unless you actually cooperate.
  16. Hey, perhaps we I can practice Japanese with you. My mother is Okinawan, but I forgot it when we moved to the USA. I'm trying to learn again. Wakari masu ka?
  17. Ok, where about do you live? Maybe we can collaborate our efforts to find you something worthy to train in.
  18. It seems to me that the unbendable arm exercise has more to do with flexing only those muscles necessary to keep your arm from bending. It's simple body mechanics and has nothing to do with Ki. I can do this trick easy.
  19. Doing My Part To Piss Off the Religious Right Don't Pray In Our School & I Won't Think In Your Church Sticker
  20. Somewhere in Texas, a villiage is missing an idiot.
  21. You last post was nonsense, that's why.
  22. I like it when hot chicks stare me down.
  23. Learn how to sprawl, this really bothers alot of Jujitsu guys who aren't very good at takedowns. You sprawl, then knee or punch them as you back out. Of course, if he's good at take-downs, you better be better at sprawling. Of course, if you have a knife...
  24. You might be in a McDojo if: They teach TaeBo there.
  25. I think it works like BenGay or IcyHot.
