  1. It was my index finger
  2. The argueing, the bickering, the condescending attitudes...it's just not professional, and it can ruin an investigation. I also noticed that they ask questions in rapid succession during EVP...this will rarely be enough time to get a response.
  3. Yes, I watch Ghost Hunters...though I do not agree with how they conduct themselves on investigations, it makes the rest of us look bad.
  4. Yep, your height might be the root of the problem there. I guess it's just a matter of practice for you to get your center under a shorter opponent's.
  5. I want to see White Noise for sure...what more could I want in a movie?
  6. Sounds like your friend was being drawn to it...hoprefully she stopped, because she is showing signs of progressive possession...where the entity draws the user in with conversation, and in time will go as far as writing through the user's hands and using the person's body to convey a message (and if the person thinks he or she is talking to a deceased family member or a goodly spirit, the person will be trusting and not fight the presence).
  7. I think of the one inch punch as a method of training, not something to train for particularly. For it to be effective, you must have both proper strinking form and control of your ki.
  8. Aye...I wouldn't set any goals just to show off, things like that only lead to a bloated ego...something that pops with a big bang!
  9. Just curious...why do you HAVE to do 100...is it just a personal goal? I can usually finish 100, and I got 115 once...never tried to go higher really, but it didn't exactly happen overnight. Took a few years of lifting hard and well...doing push-ups every other night.
  10. Gumbie-are you taller than average? If so, your problem with seoi nage could be getting your center underneath the opponents...just wondering.
  11. If the opponent is alone, Uke Otoshi (floating drop throw) would definitely be an option. If not, then Morote Seoi Nage (if I can get a grip on the lapel/shirt...if not, then Ippon Seoi Nage)...simple and effective.
  12. You could always walk in, cut in front of the mob leader on important business, and ask for $200 in buffalo nickels...
  13. Welcome to the boards! Though I'm pretty sure this topic belongs with the rest of the introductions. No matter, a mod will likely take care of it.
  14. I wouldn't call that a mistake...I'd call it a good idea.
  15. You are right...ther don't need a gate or door, but Ouija is a very personal form of contact...I'm sure you've had some good results with it, but the corpereal user is certainly not in control of the situation, and cannot determine if the information given to them is misleading or not I'm not endorsing all of the views of the demonologists...but in spite of miscomings and biase, they have done some good research nonetheless. Do you really think that the average Joe should be dabbling with the Ouija board for a good time? Or that it should be in the hands of children so Parker Bros. can make a quick buck? Yes, I'm sure there have been positive reults with the board, and negative as well. Best that people at least know the dangers before getting involved with it. Biased on what I term paranormal? So you're saying that you yourself can fully explain the intrcacacies of life after death? Of realms unknown? Of the creation of existance? Of aliens and UFOs? Of yetis perhaps? If you can, then by all means I am biased! If not, then I am simply looking for the truth for personal enjoyment; trying not to make too many assumptions without the use of my equipment And I assure you, the latter is quite true. Anyway, we'll just have to agree to disagree in the case of the Ouija board...care to share any of the research you've conducted/ communications made?
  16. I respect your opinion, but I'll take the word of experienced people in the field. In EVP, you ask a question and in rare cases, you will receive an answer, being of various degerees. Tarot cards are merely a way of charting how the person thinks...they read off their own fortune, while the card handler well...handles the cards. A Uoija board however, is a form of divination in which the spirit(if you're lucky) or other worldly entity has you entirely open to it. Many users of the Ouija board have been harassed afterwards; have seen unsettling things. EVP is a form of contact in that, if an evil spirit is not present, it will not appear (unless you are in the presence of a vortex). The board however, seems to open a gateway of sorts. As a side note, pretty much any demonologist will tell you that Ouija boards can open the doors to demonic possession. And what is you use the board in attempt to contact a deceased loved one? There is in this case that a mischevious spirit can answer in your loved one's place, lie or say harsh things, and only harm you emotionally. Anyway, if you choose to use the Ouija board, so be it...at least you've been warned. As I said, nothing in the fields is ultimately proven, we don't know how many unexplained things work. I do know however, that in using a Ouija board you are taking a risk that just isn't worth it.
  17. You're right Gandhi, it is touchy for some, and a lot of people don't want others to know that a paranormal investigation has taken place in their place of residence or workplace. Whoever you are, or how invincible you may feel: STAY AWAY FROM UIJA BOARDS. They open your home to spirits that you do not know, and that you have no control over. I was at one of Rick Fisher's meetings, and one of his members, a Medium (her work is amazing), spoke of how when she was in college her and a group of friends were playing with one of the boards. From then on, they saw a pair of red eyes in the vent from the basement. Out of time for now, will comment later...
  18. Mine varies...it usually sounds like "hai" or "hut" (without the pronunciation of the "t").
  19. Keep in mind that your arm has arteries as well...offer your arm and you just might lose it...
  20. As I said, capable instructor. A capable instructor will train you properly and teach you street application...I don't know what you're tying to get at, you simply reworded what I said in your first paragraph there. As for the Judokais defeating the Ju-Jitsuans in Tournament...that was well...in tournament. The topic is street application. Anyway, those particular Judo practitioners were likely more experienced and simply more skilled than their opponents...their instructors may or may not have been more capable. The way training is carried out is up to the instructor. No matter the style, the sensei's word is law in his own dojo. Judo, BJJ, and JJJ are very diverse, and while their training methods under certain instructors may be carried out similarly, thier techniques, theories, and applications vary greatly.
  21. Your best bet against a big vicious dog: a bigger more vicious dog. Your best bet against an enraged mountain cat: a magnum. Realistically, MA training of any sort can only do so much to phase a physically superior specimen (large dog/mountain cat)...we're only the dominant race because of our minds. Best to have an equalizer handy if you think there is danger of a dog attack...but keep in mind what might work on one dog might not work on another...they have their strengths and weaknesses just like us. Pepper spray or ammonia might stun one dog temporarily...the next might only be enraged further. Blunt attacks might stun a rot, and send your neighbor's Dobberman into a frenzy (a frenzy with sharp teeth mind you). As with people, I'd say avoid conflict if at all possible. And if you're being attacked by a mountain cat...you made a BIG mistake at some point
  22. Forgot to mention good ol' Brut! Cheap and reliable I must be bored...I'm posting in the deoderant topic again
  23. Welcome to the boards; enjoy yourself!
  24. Aye, I'm pretty sure that the majority of Okinawan based MAs incorperate sais. I know that they were originally used as fishing tools, though I'd like to know how much they altered the shape for use in combat.
  25. Ermm...I haven't seen the movie, but I think I saw the advertisement. It appears to be a sharpened sai. I could be wrong, didn't bother to get a good look.
