  1. Injuries can be upon your opponent, but the more of them (situations) that one is in, the greater the chance of you substaining an injury-physically and mentally. Don't ever think that you will come out unscathed.
  2. I don't know. I seem a lot of "big guys" in many other systems do well. But if you like to "grab hold", start with those arts. Although I would practice others (per striking) as well.
  3. What is the most useful martial arts in a streetfight? FTD......... or EFLAM
  4. that's actually not true. There are several teachers out there, particularly in the CMA world who change the forms when they put them on video. They do this on purpose so they can distinguish people who actually learned from those who learned by video. I know someone that has done that!!!
  5. Been there many times. Hope to never be there again. Some were very scary.....andrealine rushing, mental anxiety. To not fear certain situations is almost inhuman.
  6. How does any of this apply to someone with a "leg" handicap?
  7. "Shadow box-dont hit back" If it does-you're in deep trouble...
  8. I thought Bruce had more than one instructor? Did he not workout and "learn" from multiple of people/systems? Perhaps, "needing no instructor in JKD" means to learn from as many systems (that have instructors) As far as not needing a instructor, somewhere, somehow, something has to be taught/learned. Even fundamentals. Take the development of the Bai He system. In some tales, it was developed by a female. She had formal martial training. Or the developer of Tohng Lohng, he too, was a fighter before its development. Of course such tales are shrouded and remain challenged through time. But the point, is that somewhere, something has to be learned from another somehow. Rather that something learned needed improvement or has improved is another consideration.
  9. Never had any belt "blues", per mental state. When I had trained, the "next belt" was hardly a concern.
  10. Cool. What is Dan Zan Ryu Zenyo Bujutsu? Does any of these have a link/website?
  11. Its all good...... BTW, I am interested on how WC got to Brazil.....
  12. I can't help but marvel at how, for instance, did JJ get to Brazil. Or how, did Kenpo get to Hawaii. Or how was Karate formulated. And discover the vastness, richness, and uniques of every system and their practitioners. I had many years to practice physical methods (any many more hopefully), but for the past couple of decades, the history, origin, lineage, and people of these other systems continue to intrique me. A "lineage freak". Hmnn
  13. Thanks for the name/research thing......
  14. Yes, thats what I was saying: Never known it to happen in my rough part of town on the "second" Not to say it doesn't happen anywhere else. I was just making a statement. Not an arguement. Soory for the mis-conveyance.
  15. Very very good..... Have you heard on Tunnel Hill, Ga?
  16. Yes, a little. One of my Chinese Shifus, had a Shifu that taught it. The problem is, my Shifu, like many others, cross trained and developed their own "family" system. Theirs, which only goes back a mere 125 or so years. So of course, I am excited to see someone else in discussion of it. Of course I am going to ask many questions. Of course, I came across many whom claimed, but were not. And yes, again you are COMPLETELY right to say: See my point is even if a teacher was not legit he could still have a lot of knowledge about lineages and such. If I were a newcomer how could i tell? Even if I researched it on the web, that wouldn't help. I'd have to learn proper Xingyi in order to spot the fake. People can fill your head with great theory all they want but if they can't do it then they can't teach it. Very grand indeed.
  17. Yeah, how about putting on foot wear demonstrating balance ability?
  18. So, one has to have studied GoJu to become a member?
  19. JKD, Per If I'm attacked, and a hand touches me ever so lightly, that hand and surrounding limbs are then forfeit. Worry about the law after you're safe... Yes, this is where different levels of communication, via writing context and conveyance, can cause hardships. BTW, anyone that cross trains, actually are training the "philosophy" of JKD (not you-per name), I mean the system. (not style because it really isnt) Hmmnnn
  20. Yes, I agree on the first. Never known it to happen in my rough part of town on the "second"
  21. That quite alright JKD, I seen many people whom want to degrade someone, or their style/system, or another. This snare gets everyone. There many people with opinions. And they are just that-OPINIONS. Not a right, nor a wrong. If reading the guidelines, there is lot explained. I think this site, per Patrick, have done a good job in maintaing that people do not get "carried away with their opinions" I too, am at fault for offending someone, which per as a martial artist, I do not intend to. Too ways I will agrue my opinion: 1.) If I have a different understanding and direly want to understand someone elses. 2.) If someone uses theirs to degrade me or the styles/systems that I practice or even admire.
  22. Yeah, but Rick, do not take me wrong, I just didn't know kickboxing had a ranking system. I just thought that in order to kick box, one had to be able to kick and box, provided with a good trainer. And in the past, per US, one had to be a black belt of a martial art. Kind of a forced, somewhat silly, standardization. What is Goju Kai, Zen Do Kai, Zen Go Shu? Do you have any links?
  23. Yeah, sorry to imply as though I was "testing your knowledge". But when you didn't respond, it kinda had me confused. Please accept my humble apology for any misconceptions that I have conveyed or recieved. I sincerely mean this.
  24. I have to agree, the LESS a opponent learns or discovers about you, the better advantage one could have.
  25. Yeah, I usually see WC stylists "cut him down"
