  1. Though, there was a known, funny I cant temeber, large blakc dude that can do "finger rolls and demo this well. he was a large fellow and studied Aikido. i believe he is in Who's Who in the martial Arts. I have this article somehwere, if I can locate it.............
  2. To each their own....
  3. Not just that. The whole thing for tourist dollars. Other people using the name for their benefit. I can go on about this, but it may disturb some people.
  4. There are many many other ways.
  5. Isn't it strange, we practice certain things that become so natural from inherent repetition?
  6. Money, the almighty "sell-out" Which is why I loathe the present "Shaolin" thing.
  7. I guess that is the key: Cardiovascular endurance. But htere are other drills that can be done for this. Some that I have will alsi buld power and strength. Again, this "shadow-boxing" time could be spent on another workout.
  8. But how beneficial is shadow boxing, where as doing pushups or etc., will probably be most time used?
  9. Yeah, politics, the ruin of many martial art schools.
  10. A book or video want increased reflexive skills as a instructor would.
  11. The devil was a tree..... Snyway, I guess shadow boxing will be OK. But for training, I'll spend the time on something else.
  12. So which one are you currently studyng?
  13. Its funny people are ready to bash Bruce Lee and JKD since he his gone. The same goes with other art founders I guess.
  14. Yeah, saw that too. Guy had to re-learn a lot. Thus he had to break old habits.
  15. Unless of course the guy is a Kali/Eskrima knife fighter - cos they'll cut u ten times before u even notice it. In my area, the chances of such ecounter are...well I have a better chance getting hit by horse and buggy.
  16. Agree. Practicing does make perfect.
  17. Yeah, throughout some of my training, I had smashed into a wall-literally.
  18. Number one tip: Keep practicing. Number two tip: Keep practicing. Number three tip: Not effective in streetfighting. Number four tip: Not effective in streetfighting. Last tip: What goes up, must come down, sometimes down, is not the way it was planned.
  19. I thought TKD might be "dropped" from the Olympics? If so, try Judo, Wrestling, or Fencing.
  20. You have been in a martial art for 8 years and the instructor isn't fond if it? Or is he not fond of you in doing this particular phase? Perhaps, he may have a fear that you may hurt someone? this sounds a bit strange. If you lived near me, I'll hook you up with more sparring than you can handle. Better than a book or video.
  21. I broke one with my nose-once.
  22. Get a sparring partner. At least some with pads.
