Karateka_latino replied to taezee's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
I don't use the AXE kick... I'm a short guy with short legs, so that kick isn't very usefull.. I've try it.. but don't work well for me. Thanks. -

I've been hearing a ton of stories, diets, crazy things, pills, starving , etc. And we end the same thing. For weight lost.. eat well, and do exercises that's the basic thing.. Now, how to eat.. when to eat, What to eat , where exercise, what exercises , etc, All that depend of the person.. but the basics remain the same.. Good Eating and Exercises. And also patient. why people have to torture themself so much and make it harder??.. Thanks.

Thai Boxing
Karateka_latino replied to babysteffee's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
Hi, In regular kickboxing, you use boxing techniques, and you kick above your waist.. its mostly boxing with high kicks. In Thai boxing.. plus regular boxing and high kickes.. you can kick the legs , side and inner thights... you are allowed to use your elbows.. you can grab your oponent's back of the neck and hit him with your knees on the stomach or face. the Rules allows you to use more weapons of your body and Yes, its more powefull than regular kickboxing.. but i also think that kind of competiton its not for everybody.. not all the people is that tough. lol .. I've heard a lot of people train in Thai boxing, but compete in regular kickboxing rules or modify kickboxing rules that allows leg kicks, but not elbows and knees. Hope this helps... maybe Thaiboxerken will come and explain better. Thanks -
Hi why not?.. all you need is train and sparring experience.. Im not the fastest kicker ever.. In order to do that technique you need more Timing.. timing makes you look faster than you really are. All you need is more training and experience. But first of all.. You need to believe in yourself.. I think with patient and faith combined with a good and serious training you can be able to do whatever you want. That's what martial arts teach us. Please, don't think you won't ever be faster or stronger. All you need you have it between you ears, if you know what i mean. Train Hard , train smart. I know you can do it anything, my friend. Thanks.

Also,,,You can use your side kick with the sole/heel part of your foot as a stop kick.. Example....You are on your guard with your right leg lead.. when your oponent is going to kick you.. you can move your left leg forward as you lift your right leg's knee, and hit your oponent with a stop kick on his stomach or thight while he have his leg up, and he will fall on the floor.. That have worked for me a lot of times. lol I hope i explain myself well. lol Thanks.

I went and watched a class.. They have more contact sparring, Yes... but that was the only thing they were doing diferent from other karate schools i have seen. they did lots of katas.. I was talking with one of the students and he told me they have more than 36 Katas even more Than Shotokan karate... It's just one more Karate style. So, No, its not for me.. But thanks for the information Iron. havoc And Ken .. and good luck Angus at least you have lucky to have all those diferents schools near so you can switch as you please. lol hey, thaiboxerken. why don't you come to Panama and give us a Muay Thai seminar??. lol

Good Luck my friends. I think its good to keep moving until you find a school you like to train in. And even if you are happy on your new school, you must keep curious about the other styles of martial arts. I'm not saying keep jumping from school to school every month... I just say, Stay on your new school but Never stop watching the other styles and all the things you can learn from them... Thanks

hey, I have posted many questions about Thai boxing training because We don't have a gym to train in here in my country. I was reading That many kyokushin karate fighters have done very very well in muay thai rules fights. That the kyokushin fighters have gone toe to toe with muay thai fighter doing very well. So i was think that maybe if i train in kyokushin karate I'll be ready for a future Muay Thai training instead of training by myself. What do you think?.. Thanks.

I spend the whole day watching TV for the News. It's very sad something like this happends. Maybe Panama and U.S.A sometimes don't get along well, ( USA invaded Panama in 1989) But still We have to leave everything behind and support eachother in this terrible tragedy who takes the life of many many inocent people. Panama Goverment is giving entire support to USA and we hope the people behind this get caught and punish for what they did. Its awfull. And Yes, it sick my stomach see all that people celebrating that way. GO USA.

It's OKay as a sport, for fun, and its safe enough for everybody can do it.. We don't have full contact/kickboxing matches here. So if you want to compete on fighting, its point fighting what you need to do. That's the way it is here. Fullcontact/kickboxing/muay thai matches require a lot more preparation and endurance a good coach, and most of the people can prepared themself well to compete. So that's why you can choose to do point fighting. Thanks

Martial Arts From Videos....
Karateka_latino replied to Blade13's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I Know trying to learn from books and videos isn't a good idea.. But sometimes, we don't have another choice.. I understand the Point of Blade 13.. Not all the time we can have the luck to live in a place with so many good schools to train in, specially the people who live on smalls towns or 3rd world cities. So its or either you find a style that you can find anywhere ( karate, taekwondo) and learn the things you like from videos. Or don't do martial arts at all. That's the true for some of us. Thanks -
Thailand's Weapon art.. Krabi Kabrong
Karateka_latino replied to thaiboxerken's topic in Martial Arts Weapons
I've read that the Kabri Kabrong warriors used to wear little knifes hidden between there toes and use it against there enemies for stabbing and cut with each kick they threw. Is that true Ken? -
The use of weapons in TKD depends on the school. TKD don't have oficial weapons that belong only to the style. They can have Korean Weapons ( Kum Do ), Some schools use kobudo weapons ( Bo, Kama, Sai, nunchaku) and even some schools use wu shu weapons ( spear, broadsword,) and even filipino weapons ( sticks and knifes) .. But the sports TKD schools don't train in weapons. I think it depends on the intructor.
