New Jet Li Movie!!!
Karateka_latino replied to Kickbutt's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
Okay, i was checking a couple of reviews about the movie. They said its much better than Romeo Must Die, that the fighting scenes are good and Jet Li isn't using any wires of this one. So i guess that's great. -
Sorry, i don't have a picture available now. As soon as i have one, I'll post .. And by the way, Kickbutt (Lori) you look great

Hey. I wanted to know if at 29 years old its a too old age to start muay thai. I know you can learn martial arts at any age.. But i don't really know if its a good idea start in that particular art at this age, because i watched a TV documental in which they said that Muay Thai Training MUST beging at young age so the body can get use to the punishment.. Isn't the training too tough for a not so young body?

Karateka_latino replied to Sissy's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
Well, i think everything has been said. No single martial arts is enough for self defense, its the combination and how you use it. -
Now you are talking about it.. Which are the best Low Kicks Blocks??

Hey. I have been watching several Web pages and reading a lot of articles on magazines about Jeetkunedo/kali/muay thai, etc.. Im a bit curious.. Why all those arts seems to be teach together.. I mean.. The Schools i watched that offer JKD lessons.. they also offer Muaythai and Kali and sometimes, wing chun and BJJ.. So what's the connection between those arts?

I think those type of school in which the intructor Yell at everyone and makes them do thousands of push up and hit thems with a bamboo stick on there back aren't earning respect.. they are just causing fear on there students.. But that's not respect... Students don't respect they fear.. you can have all the techniques on the world and beat the hell out of everyone and still Not be respected. Respect comes from been a role model, teach people something usefull for there lifes.. If you want to be respect as a MA instructor as a human being, You must Respect your students back. If you don't respect them they won't respect you no matter how much you yell and how much you punish them. I think All those schools who punish there student unfairly and treat little kids as boot camp soldiers are totally wrong. Thanks. -
With all the respect. But i'm agree with thaiboxerken.. sizes DO matter specially if the two oponents have the same techniques and conditioning. If sizes do not matter.. then why we have weight categories on tournaments?? Size do matter but as i said. its not a guarantee.. If you really know how to fight you can defend yourself, but fighting some bigger AND skilled its a risk for small people even if you know lots of techniques and have a "brain". maybe thaiboxerken and I are agree because we both are small guys and we know what are we talking about.
-
Sizes DO matter.. Specially if the bigger guy knows how to use his weight as a weapon.. But, That just an advantage.. Not a guarantee that just because you are big you will always win. You need to learn how to fight diferent people with diferent sizes..

Oh yes,.. I have seen a lot of crazy people.. but i think MA classes have to be fun.. we aren't in Feudal Japan anymore or in a Shaolin temple. Also i think the people who always show off, are the one's who doesn't know anything and need an attitude to cover his lack of knowlege. -
Besides the rounhouse kick to the legs. A good front kick to the groin is pretty effective.. Also a quick side kick to the side of the knee is also pretty efective. The simple basic kicks are pretty good for self defense.. Its not only matter of the kick itself but where you throw it. peace.

I've heard that the Clases in schools , seminars and videos of BJJ are overpriced. How much it cost that Seminar??. -
Which striking Styles do you think are the best for small people? And please don't say. " all the styles are good for everyone". I've heard that before, i want other opinions about it, okay? lol Thanks,
